The general guide for protein is 50g RDA. Should I be aiming for that on a raw food diet? Should I worry if I am regularly only eating half of that? Thanks in advance.

My daughter who was 3 at the time got tested for the protein level because she was a raw vegan. All of her protein level were above average.
You will never hear about someone being protein deficient. A protein is an amino acid and you need 8 type to make sure that you are cover.
With animal protein, you get too much protein and your body needs to utilize calcium to flush it out. On top of being cook and cripple (sulfur brake down when expose to heat).
I recommend that you get RawSome by Brigitt Mars (very inexpensive and so informative). She explain about protein and how to find the essential amino acid.
If you eat a simple tomato or a simple apple, you will have all the essential amino acid.
Elephant, cows and some big animals eat only plant food and look how huge they are.
Leafy greens are a great source of protein. You will find protein in all plant food basically.
Be concern about the nutrient more then the protein. Meaning, make sure to eat as much variety of plant food and different color.
I am not a doctor, please do your research

Thank you. What you are saying is helpful. I am achieving a lot of what you say but I did notice my protein total is only ranking in at around 25g daily and wondered if I need to make a concerted effort to up it even though I FEEL like I am getting the right balance. Nutrition wise it appears I am hitting the mark. Bit short on calcium but I am working on that.

I have set my target at 30 but that is on a 2000 calorie a day diet and I always go a little over.

Ok, so when the health agencies recommend 50g are they saying 'no more than' to reach optimum health or 'at least 50g but no more' to reach optimum health? The interpretation of this will make all the difference to me.

They are saying recomended mininmum but that is based on a SAD diet. The protein that you eat is more bioavailable than that so you need less.

Thank you, that makes sense. I don't think I need to worry.
