Yes, I'm in and looking forward to this. I am new to the site but have been lurking for quite a while.
I am currently about 75-80% raw now. My intuition has been telling me for a while now that I need to move to the next step. I know of all the wonderful benefits of eating raw. My main goal with this challenge is to lose some of the extra weight that seems to be hard to melt off.

I'll be here too. I'm at mom and dad's for another week, but I've been raw here. I haven't had much chance to get online, so I haven't posted, but all is well.
Merry Christmas, everyone. :)

I'm taking the 30 day challenge because I really want to live a raw lifestyle and I know I'll need accountability and support to be fully successful. I hope to get healthier and prove to myself that I can do this. If I can do 30 days, then I can do 60, then 90, and so on. Trying to do this one step at a time. :)

I'm in too! I have a newborn of 2 months and I'm breastfeeding and I know that I have to eat more greens for his health. I'll allow soaked integral oatmeal, still, because I'll need it in my milk and don't want to be too drastic in the diet changes. It won't be raw oatmeal because I'm in Nicaragua and I can't find it here, neither can't order it... anyway maybe I can order, I'll see!
I have 25 pounds to loose still too.. so I'll check how I am going while january goes by!

Hello,
I'm going to get the whole rawfood starting in me !
How? Feasting during 5 days (while I'm at school and the food isn't so raw :/)
and then eating lots of greens during the weekend.
I will try to start now already with eating more greens and no sugar or milk anymore so that my body is prepared for the feasting.
I'm hoping to let go all of those toxins in my body.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site, and this is exactly what I've been looking for. I've done a 7 day raw food cleanse before, and something inside of me knows that if I can do that, I'm ready for the next step. I'm excited to have these boards for help, support, and most importantly for me- accountability ;) I'm 28 yo, living in the bay area in cali, and looking forward to this challenge

I have been thinking of this for sometime after I have read a book from Marcus Rothkranz and all what was in there I feel was correct and because my life style was not all that I decided to go with his advise.
I have plan to at least go for a 40 days fast, I have diabets type 1 and I'm trying to get it better under control or even the best is to completly of the insuline, but not sure if this is possible.
I would like to get response from people that have diabets like me and what are there results so that it least I know where I stand.
I do not have much overweight and this is not the reason I do this but just try to change my life style, I wish everybody around here all the best and hope what they get where they are hoping for.
Regards,
Marcus

Count me in - as one of flag-flyers this side of the water!
I lost 60lbs in 2009 on raw, then let it all slide and put it on again - plus more - in 2010. So cross with myself but now determined to get healthy again in 2011.
Happy New Year to everyone and good luck for the 30 day challenge.

Count me in - one of Alissa's fans from the other side of the pond!
I lost 60lbs on raw in 2009, then put it on - plus more - in 2010 when I let things slide. So cross with myself but bad habits over 40 years are hard to crack!!
I want to get healthy again in 2011 so my motivation is very high especially after reading Alissa's latest book. Yum!
Happy New Year to everyone and good luck for the first 30 day challenge.

Are you going to join us for a raw challenge in January 2011? Share about it here!
Why are you going to do it?
What do you hope to get from it?
Share share share!
Hi, Aleesha & Everyone!
I've been researching and doing 3, 7, and 14 day 100% raw challenges over the past year, and have seen the amazing results to my health and vitality, and I've structured my life for the next month and waited for the perfect time to hopefully go 100% raw vegan in a way that creates a continuous LIFE STYLE.
Health Conditions I'm trying to improve:
1) Weight. I am obese. I've tried every diet change in the book, and the only eating plan that doesn't leave me feeling like crap is [at least, "high raw"] veganism.
2) Cysts. My family members (skinny and large, alike) are prone to deep skin cysts/boils. Doctors always want to surgically remove and give antibiotics, and this doesn't even help heal completely. BUT, I'm successfully healed many cysts before on my short-term raw feasts.
3) Vitality. My adrenals are totally shot at this point. I need caffeine every 4 hours to function. I wake up not even wanting to move.
4) Moods/Bipolar. I have found that curbing negative thinking and managing moods is much easier, to the point of near effortlessness, while raw.
What I hope to get out of this:
I'm hoping that being a part of the community here will keep me focused on the goal and to see it as a LIFESTYLE. I know that to make it part of life, and not just some diet, I need to constantly have the perspective of a raw foodie. I feel like I'm just about there. The past year's mini-raw challenges, and the tons of documentary and youtube watching I've done has truly changed the way I perceive and feel about food. I can honestly say that I've reached a point where I look at processed and heavy foods and I FEEL "that's dead!" That's been a crucial point for me, to not just THINK the true things, but to be able to FEEL/deeply KNOW the truth about the food choices we have. Now I just need to make the push to completely align my lifestyle with my awareness.
Added bonus I'm looking for:
I would love to meet another raw foodie who gets online a lot on either AIM, Yahoo!, or MSN. I do a lot of work at home, and I would love an instant message buddy to be close by for moments of conversation here and there, to make my world feel like a RAW WORLD. Please Private Message me here with your screen names, if you're interested.
PAX et LUX!

Happy to start the new year with all of you, and January with the 30 day challenge. Just from reading the postings, I realize there is alot of support.
I need to do this for health reasons (IBS/constipation mostly, other stuff, too)
As of today I'd say I'm 90& there, so what's another 10%.
Although Jan 1st is a few days away, I'll start tomorrow with a goal of 100&. I'm good all day, it was when I cook for my husband or he cooks something.
So, Tuesday, he is having pesto on a cooked food, and I will have it with my zuchinni strips and a great big salad.
Is there some particular way we are to do this - report in, or.....????

I am in too!:)
two wks ago dd asked me if we could go raw again so 1-1-11 we are going raw and she said she wants to try for 365 days.
for me- i want the energy level back, no hipjoint pain, more weightloss.
for her- she wants to have clear skin, lose wgt (but she's slimming up naturally loosing all her baby fat-waaaaaaahhhhhhhhh she's growing up) and to eat healthier. I dont have problem with her eating raw as she was already mostly a nomeatasaurus. I've been collecting a variety of recipes that I can keep onhand of things that I can get from my local supermarket. last challenge we did we stayed raw from 8-15-11-21.

Okay kids, Stina is in the party. I want to be more pure than high raw. A mostly raw diet has been great, but I'm wondering what kind of detoxing I'm covering up with stuff like bottled salad dressings and dubious toppings on salads and.......okay, I ate crap at Christmas time. Did I enjoy the holidays more for consuming baked goods? No, my energy was really diminished and my hands hurt. I've put a lot of thought into going 100%. I'm really framing this as a spiritual journey.
I look forward to getting to know you all on this journey!

I'm telling people in my life that I'm going all raw. That way I don't get any surprise food gifts and it gives me some accountability. Plus I want them tho see me be transformed and know why.
Right now I keep mono eating oranges, it wasnt a plan, they taste so good I just keep eating them.
Note to people suffering detoxing, eat lots of fruit! Its very restorative!! Nothing wrong with cruising on calories from fruit, we are biologically designed for it.

I am in!!! I did a raw diet post master cleanse for about 2 weeks about 2 years ago and felt great.
I am transitioning to getting my body back in shape ( physically, mentally, emotionally). I think a raw diet is the cleanse I need for at least a month maybe more to get my hormones balanced and give my digestive system a much need break. I have 80lbs to shed in addition to Compulsive and Bipolar Disorder. I have the later under control, but I need to operate on a higher vibration again, my body is calling for balance.
I plan to KISS, mostly eating whole foods. Using my NINJA blender and regular kitchen tools to make salads, veggie mixes, and smoothies.
For the 31st, I plan to water/tea fast to get my body ready. Then to eat as I please as much as I want of alkaline producing raw foods. I will also take do some cleansing teas/supplements. I will schedule a colonic in mid january to help release some of these toxins too.
Looking forward to sharing this 30 day journey with you.

Finished my 2 day fast and am ready to go. I made Alissa's Italian wraps yesterday and Angel Food cake this morning along with almond-hazelnut milk and started with the burdock tea recipe in Alissa's new book. I also made a heavenly green smoothie and will have some Calzone that took out of the freezer this morning for dinner. I had a headache the entire fast, but it is gone now :) I am sure it was the caffeine withdrawal. Looking forward to this. Plan to make lasagna tomorrow and eggplant bacon Monday along with "Cashew Shrimp" from Alissa's new book. If the name sounds cooked don't worry I am only talking about raw food recipes. I am also going to dehydrate some Buckwheat for raw granola. The Burdock tea isn't all raw but I am thinking that if I get the recipe from Alissa's new book, I am going to call it OK for "my" challenge.
I am thinking this should get me through the week along with salads and smoothies.

I have been dreaming about fruits and vegetables every night for a week, I swear. :D
I told myself I would allow my Body to guide me through this pregnancy and when it began sending me signals, I would be ready to go back to 100% Raw.
I'm thinking these dreams, coupled with extreme cravings for NOTHING but fruit and veg and greens, is my signal. ;) I love that it all landed right on time for the New Year... the first month of every year is a very empowering time for me, energetically, and especially since this is 2011 AND the year my son is coming, finally, to live with me in the flesh!!!!!!

Hi everyone. I am doing my first raw month challenge, starting today! (So I'm a little off on the dates, but the important thing is that I'm doing it.)
I've been to this board on and off in the past, usually when I was doing a brief juice fast. Sadly, those days seem far behind me as my eating habits have become increasingly unhealthy and taken over by sugar and flour. I'm vegan, but I'm sure you can all imagine just how unhealthy and SAD a vegan diet can be if you do it like I have been!
My goal for this 30 days of only raw food is to hopefully "reset" my eating and living habits. To be entirely honest, yes, I want to lose weight -- very much so -- but I know I can't treat this as a diet because once the 30 days are up, if I go back to my old habits, I'll be right back where I started (if not worse). But I remember the time from my life about 5 years ago when I was so healthy, eating a lot of raw foods, happy and healthy, etc., and I miss it. Yet it's so hard to get back there!
I don't have any plans to ever go 100% raw, but I do want to seriously up my raw food intake and decrease all that bad stuff.
Since today is my first day, I don't have much to share yet (beyond how fun it was to go out and buy all these fruits and veggies -- raw foods really are beautiful and abundant, aren't they?). I don't plan to count calories or anything beyond trying not to consume an entire container of raw cashews in one sitting, but I'm already wondering if my food will be "too good" for me to lose weight. (Raw peanut butter and fruit smoothies? Raw cashew sauce over broccoli? Yes please!) But we will see how it all pans out.
Oh, and I did buy some packaged raw bars (RAW Revolution? And another brand) but I haven't had any yet and I can't help but feel it's cheating, somehow. What do you think?
Good luck, everyone!
