Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge.

If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!

Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!

We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.

We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!

In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.

Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,

Cherie

Mindful Mama, thank you for being grateful :) You have reminded me to be more so!. Yay!! Your very own vitamix! I'm so excited for you :D Early day 70 congratulations to you!!!

GreenT glad to see that you're still doing well :) Running around busily seems to be key to keeping at it through all doesn't it?

I hate to say that I seem to have cut off the challenge a day short. I don't want to solely put blame on one reason, but I'm pointing the finger at two reasons, the fact that it's my time of the month and my cravings for certain things seemed unbearable, and....
I have been having nerve shock in my hip for around 2 months, even before raw (that was one of the reasons I wanted to go raw, to see if it went away). Along with that, I had chronic fatigue, depression, lack of interest. Today I began to get muscle spasms, and I realized that the white moons on my fingers and thumbs have complete gone. And finally today I put all the symptoms together and realized that these are symptoms of B12 deficiency! Especially because, raw has made 0 difference on them (except the depression). But because I am so low on money. My mother, whom I told about my symtoms, was angry with me that I was making things 'complicated' by 'not eating a piece of meat every once in awhile'. I let it get to me, and I made the conscious decision to eat a piece of *shivers* animal flesh, rather than buy supplements... Well you can imagine how that went...
1. INSTANT gas seemed to flood my system after first bite, my body trying to rush the toxins out ASAP
2. Stomach pain, lasting for arond 10 minutes..followed by
4. Eyes suddenly feeling dull, less open and aware
3. Instant irritability, uninterest, suddenly refuse to speak... The sudden lack of unenthusiasm with the simplicity of the world around me shut me up.
4. Inability to focus, things seem less real...
5. My anxiety and over analyzing returned slightly once I was less absorbed in the present world around me! Amazing.

Well, this led me to what neared on a binge of cooked foods, which I am ashamed of, and grateful for.... I am grateful because I feel horrible. My fingers are beginning to swell up again along with my face, my stomach feels like I put a tower of rocks in it, my face is unusually hot and my brain feels like it's tightening? Or as if the veins in my head are constricting?? (That can't be good). Also keep in mind I am gluten/lactose/soy free, so these food items caused none of these symtoms...

The reason I am grateful for this experience, is because I let myself do it knowing that I would feel horrible, and that it would illuminate the contrast... Because I trusted that I would return to raw, I know that to be true. This is the same way I went about eliminating gluten/lactose from my diet when it was difficult.. I kept needing to eat it to remind myself until I was ready to let it go from my life permanently

I also know that... I very badly need vitamin D supplements and B12 in order to feel much of an energy/depression difference on raw, as I am low in both....

I feel now that I am ready to let it go :) Am going to pick up B12 supplements tomorrow, order D3, and I'm hopping back on the raw wagon to see if I can go another 70 days 100%
