View Full Version : Quinoa in Smoothies?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this, since quinoa is great in protein. If so, did it make your smoothies gritty, thickened, or taste weird?
There's only two ways I enjoy sprouted Quinoa: In some kind of curry, or in a smoothie / shake.
Especially one made from:
Banana, dates, cocoa, vanilla, lucuma, some green powders / young spinach and the Quinoa. The Quinoa seems to make a really nice froth on top, almost like a regular milk shake.
As for weird tastes: When sprouted Quinoa starts to turn very pink; that's where our relationship ends :)

Yeah Sprouted Quinoa does taste a little "weird" once it turns pink... just try to focus on the pinkness instead of the taste... you're rewarded with something very nourishing to your body.
By the way my healthfood store just started stocking Black Quinoa... so now it has white, black, and red... very awesome!

Seem like a good idea. I use it in my raw tabolli recipe (Raw sprouted), it is yummy this way too.
