I just need to vent a little! I live in a house with two children who are 5 and 3 and a husband and they all eat SAD. I just got a dehydrator and I have been trying to make stuff in it for the past week, but everytime I try to prepare something one of my children need me, and then when I look to see what time it is, and I count the hours, I realize that some of the stuff that I want to cook will be down at 3am, and I am sleeping at that time! My DH works all the time. I keep buying the foods that I need to use to make some of the recipe that I want to try and it ends up going bad because I don't get around to making it! Raw food and this lifestyle is the ONLY thing that I do for myself and I can't even do this! Today, my children were eating their lunches and i was drinking a GS(which was delicious by the way), and doing dishes and I was crying because I want to make the crepes and I am going to have to wait until later tonight to start the batter and the dehydrator. I did make the grawnola, and it was good.
Thank you for letting me vent! I am just so frustrated!
Most foods going in the D will be just fine if they go on for longer. Its way more forgiving than say, baking something in the oven. Just drop the temperature slightly or a lot, and let it run until its convenient for you to get to it.
Hope everything turns out alright.

I always remembered that whenever my mom needed to make a phone call, have me time, want to read a book, or whatever. She would set me and my sister at a table where she could keep a close eye on us with crayons and construction papers in front of us. I would just draw. My sister and I were pretty content doing that. It allowed her some free time to do what she wanted to do, Hope this will give you an idea of what you can do to free up your time.

Women used to run farms and raise many children. Maybe the children are developmentally ready for mommy to say that shell be with them in just a little bit.

So sorry, i understand the busy mum issue. Anyone in your family, that could come watch out the children while you are doing some "Me" time.
At my child school, they are teaching them at a very young age to do dishes, to iron, to polish shoes etc.... Children love to help around the house. If you are willing to decrease your standard, you can get them involve in the food preparation (house tours as well) while you are making some of your raw food. Many recipes takes less then 10 minutes to do.
My daughter who is 4 was doing dishes. She also absolutely love making raw cookies etc... Yes, it is extra work to do this with your child, but it boost their confidence and it is also inspire them to eat the raw dish. It does make a mess on the floor but once you do 100% raw food, you will have so much energy, you won't know what to do with it, lol...
Don't give up and i so hear you. You will find a creative way until then i pray for you to be charged up with vitality and to get all the help that you need.

RawAngelMom,
Thank you so much!! I have gone 100% raw and I am still waiting for that energy...I am not sure where it is? I do have a thyroid issue, and I am on natural meds for it. But that is a whole other issue!! LOL! I want to lower my standards and let them help me, but I always get a little stressed. It is mostly my sons, he has so much energy, you would think he ate raw! LOL! But it is a good thing, and he just loves to play, and sometimes he plays a little to rought. My daughter would love to do the dishes or even help. She does like to sit and watch me, which is great. Thank you for the prayer, it is always nice to know that someone is praying for you. I think that is the other problem, I have gotten away from church, and God, and I am trying to find my way back! Thank you so much!!

Thank you, I will try to lower the temp for a while, and then when I am home or up I can turn up the D.

I usually have to leave my food in the dehydrator a little longer--they are usually fine

If you don't have energy just now, just hang in there. Sometime while we are doing detox, we feel tired. It is a way that our body wants us to rest to do some major repair. Greens, seem to be a booster of energy for me.
I big hug to you

I unxerstand completely....Can you block out an hour when they are in bed or an hour (in blocks of time) in the AM and prep for the next day? Then, even if you don't get to it you have something already made and there is no time constraint. SOme dehydrators have timers. Maybe put it in at night/when you sleep??

May I encourage you in two things:
1) I'd take "trying" out of your username. Whenever we "try" we always have a plan B that says we can fail. This is a hypnosis tool (I teach hypnosis for childbirth) and quite powerful.
2) This is a season. :) I have 6 children (15, 12, 10, 7, 5, & 3) While I have a 5 & 3 like you do, mine are easier to manage because I have older kids. One trick tho is to get them involved or simply wake up earlier than them or have a regular bedtime. When I only had two that age they were in bed by 7:30 and I had "me time" then.
*hugs*

I will change my user name, I like that idea! WOW 6 kids, that is great! They do have a regular bed time and that is 8pm, so I am trying to use that time to prepare some things. I also get up early at 5:00am and that is when I run. I think what I have to do is figure out my time and what I have to do. I am also doing college on line, and right now I am in a math class that is really kicking my butt! So that has been taking up a lot of my time. I have written out a list of things that I want to do for the whole year of 2011. Thank you for all of the advice.

well you can buy a power timer too. its an adapter that shuts down electrical current from a device after a set period of time, kind of what some excaliburs have built in.
