What does the term 'high raw' diet mean? Someone was using it the other day but I could not get closed enough to them to ask.
Thanks

High percentage of what you eat is raw. Now, the question remains what that percentage is and how to figure it.

It means to do like Revvell does....climb a tree, act like a nut, be a squirrel and eat raw acorns....hahahaha

Climb a tree n eat a banana.....

Naw...high raw is yes...HIGH ON RAW and eating as much raw food in a day as is possible.

Some say high raw because there really is no way to figure (if you are into percentages (i think that is such a hootle toot) because some things people add to recipes are not raw.
~i think theres an echo in here~

There isn't any 'official' definition. As Revvell says, the percentage determines the 'high raw' status, but what percentage?

Although it's open to debate, the generally accepted percentage is around 75% or higher. Which basically means most of your meals would centre around raw foods.

High Raw should just be called Raw. You refuse to sprinkle a dash of Smoked Paprika on your otherwise 100% Raw salad? I call that Anal Raw.

Me, I say, call it nothing, just eat raw.

Nah, the high raw defintion is very helpful. It means I can avoid things I don't eat like nutritional yeast, maple syrup, miso, and other transitional foods I don't eat.

Guess I'm one of those anal raw foodies. ;)

It also means people have an arbitrary aim for the amount of raw they want in their lives, great for people who have difficualties with cold turkey.

I was happily high raw for 4 years, then easily trasnitioned into 100% after that as I was already well trained.

I agree. I also think it helps people to feel better about where they are with whatever strides they are able to make, if they can't go 100% overnight. And with an average of more than half your daily food raw, you will see benefits. So in my book, it's positive!

Very true rawlight. :)

And without an all or nothing approach, people can make steps that are realistic and acheivable for them, maybe they can go from 20-30%, etc, then onwards and upwards.

If breaking things down into manageable chunks is someone's thing, this makes it easier. Plus this way people can identify more with raw while not being 100%. Like many things in life, adopting a raw lifestyle is both a choice and an evolution. No need to feel guilty, or depressed at your 'non achievement' of not reaching 100% or whatever, just a concentration on the little wins and an evolution at your own pace towards where you want to be. :)
