I just talked with a friend who has a huge organic garden and she told me to google companion plants. Instead of spraying her garden, she plants basil by certian plants and geraniums by others, garlic by others....to keep the bugs away etc. Anyway, I've heard of this before but not to the extent that she uses it and thought you'd like to hear about it also. I'm going to do this more this coming spring.:)

yes! basil with tomatoes, dill with corn, garlic, mint, there are lots of things you can use. I did it a little last year...but I found out this info a little too late and my herbs were started too late. but the basil and tomatoes worked well.

I planted basil with my tomatoes ... and even tho it wasn't a very good tomato year because of the rain, there were no bugs. I'm going to google companion plants for some hints for next year's garden! Thanks for the post!!
