Hi All,

Well I have decided, as my post title indicates, I REALLY have to go from peaking (through rawfood sites, books, groups, etc) and dive into the raw lifestyle. I am a 32 year old female/educator and one who for at least almost 11 years been truly health conscious. Many people who know me consider me to be above average in being health conscious thanks to my parents, etc who exposed me to healthy living. I am always saying that I could stand to be more disciplined with healthy eating. That said, since my mother suffered 4 unexpected strokes during the summer of '09 I decided I needed to become more regimented with maintaining my own health. I made a vow to myself that for every year I am here on my birthday I need to do a greater investment in my health. So '09 I bought an Omega 8003 Juicer, this year I bought a Excalibur Dehydrator and next year I am eyeballing a Water Ionizer.

I am putting myself amidst the forum of various of other people on the rawlife path in order to get and give support, advice, and encouragement. Given that my semester is just about done with close to 5 weeks until I am back into the classroom, I decided this was the ultimate time to make it happen!!! I just ordered 5 more raw books (including Alissa's new book) and am slowly ridding my house of anything that remotely looks processed (which I am happy to say is virtually non-existent). I look forward to connecting with other raw foodist as I find that having a group or even a partner can help guide you further, which is what I need!!!

Peace and Progress,

soulfullyraw

Welcome! I want an ionizer! I think that's going to be my first (and possibly only) major "health-conscious" purchase.

What do you teach?

Welcome soulfullyraw

Glad you've decided to enter the land of the in-divers! :)

PS: Screw the water ionizer... Do you have a high speed blender...??????? Gotta get one! :)

It's great to have you here.....sorry to hear about your mother's strokes, that's rough. I don't have Alissa's new book yet....yet, being the key word. I do have her first book and DVD's, which are incredible. They really are still my favorite and I have quite a few rawfood books. As far as appliances, I don't have an ionizer but my favorite/can't live without appliance would be my vitamix....basically it gets used every day. Next would be my cuisinart food processor and then the excalibur dehydrator. I did just fine with my 40.00 blender and food processor but when I got the nicer ones I realized just how nice they really are. So I guess I'm just saying you can get along fine without them but they REALLY are nice. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome vegetize, laura-jane, and jacsam!

It will be a true test of faith and discipline that is for darn sure but little by little I will get there. The water ionizer is still a maybe but seeing all the youtube clips and articles about the need for "good water" I have begun to do research so we will see. I do have the food processor and blender (2 in fact...had to be an extra since my vitamix is lost amidst the pile of the basement storage for now). So I am in good shape. Today in fact I put it to use by making a huge green smoothie and putting the extras in a bottle in the fridge to drink later. Been busy cleaning and clearing out the kitchen of things not essential to the direction I am heading. All my books came in yesterday and I am frantically trying to do some meal planning. Going raw really makes you prepare and with me being a constantly planner that works - just have to stick with it when school resumes next month. By the way I teach history...

Thanks for the energizing support!!!
