Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge.

If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!

Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!

We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.

We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!

In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.

Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,

Cherie

CONGRATS on making it halfway through!!!! :D

Been up since 4:30 am for Yoga and Pilates... Oh yeahhhhhhh! Feeling a little tired lately - energy has definitely decreased a little. Not sure why since I am getting plenty of sleep - maybe not restful sleep so I'll sleep in the guest room tonight. Strange dreams lately. Not bad dreams, but just strange. LOL! It may be time for fasting so I'm going to start reading up on it. I know there is a lot of good information on here so we'll start with that. Has anyone done a juice fast this month?

Hope that you all are well and that your day is off to a good start. Had a smoothie last night along with a Kale Salad.

Today's Plan:

Meal 1: Green Juice (pomegranites, kale, spinach, celery, parsley, mustard greens (almost done with those - pheeew!), ginger, 1 lemon.)
Meal 2: Salad
Meal 3: 2 Super food cookies
Meal 4: Light salad - busy night. Today is my nephew/godson's bday. He turns 11 and is going into his "pre-teens" Eeeeeeeeeeeeek. We will take him bowling today.

Water & lots of Tea (it's so cold over here! Brrrrrrrrr)

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

*Much love & hugs*

Heya Rawbies :)

I hear that Delise. I am going to sit down and figure out when I'm going to do either a 5 day or week long juice fast soon, but not around Christmas. Last time I did one was back in November or October...I can't remember..for two weeks. It may be sometime in January this time around. Happy bowling Delise and my baby nephew is just turning 2 and the kid is a riot. I can't imagine him as a pre-teen just yet. It's going to be something even when his voice begins to change, he sounds so sweet and yummy right now. :)

So, today I have had a few mugs of herbal tea, and I have some eats:
guac w/ raw crackers
raw ginger snaps
golden delicious apple
orange
green smoothie
Lara bar

I have school today so it's going to be a long one. My appetite has definitely decreased. Talk to you all later and have a great day! :)

Zuri: Thank you, Thank you. Awww he is 2? That's the best age, I think from 1-5. So adorable and cute. (I have 4 nephews and 3 nieces - yes Latin family LOL). I was asked for Skinny jeans in a grey wash this year. :p I was just changing his dirty diapers yesterday?!?! :o I swear. LOL!

I agree on a 5 day fast after the holidays. Maybe the 1st or 2nd week of the new year? I've never done it so some research is needed. :o I'll do it with you when you do it! Moral support is a must on that.

*hugs*

I can't believe its already half way through the challenge. This was actually a lot easier then i thought it would be. Im absolutely loving it and feeling great. They didnt have a raw eatery there but that have a nice salad bar so i put a little of everything in it, it was delicious!

Zuri, i might also be in for the fast too, i will see more when the time comes. I have never done a juice fast so this would be the first. Sounds like fun.....Are you including smoothies too? Or just juices?

Blizzard, I might be able to do a smoothie fast with you - I have never had too much luck with juice fasting, as I find it takes much too much time to do all of the juicing, and I just don't have that kind of time.

Thankyou delise for the reply yesterday. It's a hard thing to go through and you reminded me of why i'm doing this; taking care of ME for once. Thanks!

Man I was really abnormally gassy today.. Could that be detox or would that be what i'm eating? It seems a little bit late to be detox? Then again I am still overheating and getting sore throats, so it very well could be...

Today decided to make the switch to 80/10/10. My first 2 weeks have contained a high amount of fat, which was around 60%. Stopped feeling the benefits of raw; the sensitivity of touch, sound, eyesight, the happiness and appreciation, and etc. So today I ate a lot more fruit than normal and no avocados or nuts, could fruit be causing gas? Guess i'll see if it goes away in the next week and then decide whether or not it's detox...

And today I was significantly COLD!! It felt like I was cold in my very bones... Then again, I woke up and our heater had broken over night :p That could have been it too!

By excluding fats my appetite came back though, which is good
I'm hoping to eventually reach mono-mealing, but I'm not ready for that yet.

B: 6 cactus pears
S: cucumber
L: 3 bananas + bokchoy= smoothie
S: 1 head romaine
D: fruit salad: 2 bananas, 2 persimmons, 2 apples.

:) Halfway, friends! Keep on chuggin' along

You might be one of the people who needs to consider food combining, if you're struggling with a lot of gas. I can pretty much eat things in any combination and do fine with them, but some people can't. Celery is very good for gas too, by the way, so if you're uncomfortable, you might try that.

Hi All!

Seems like you are all doing well!

Escape- ((hugs)) to you! I feel your frustration with your Mom. Didn't she express interest is changing her diet, because of your experience? Continue to take care of yourself. Use yes and no freely warrior.

January fasters- I'm in!! My last fast was 10 days in November. I love fasting. All of my fasting experiences have been so different, can't wait to do it again.

Today I was FREEZING! Outside temp about 9*. At one point this afternoon, inside my home, all fingers on both hands totally numb, no sensation, no circulation. It felt like my fingers were ice cubes growing off my hands.

Yesterday I also tried the apple, raisin, walnut, cinnamon combo. Stellar combo!!

Today;
lots of water
B- 1/2 small watermelon
sweet thai delight tea
s- apple
L- GS ( drank maybe 2/3 of what I usually do)
s- apple
more tea
D- big salad- 1/2 head red leaf, 1/3 cucumber, mung bean sprouts, alfa alfa sprouts, pomegranate seeds, avo, hemp seeds, juice of 1/2 orange (this is a great salad!!)

Love to you ALL!!

I have been feeling the same way. We made cookies and I have been having some of them. I feel bloated and not as light as before. I discovered in the past that nuts are not my thing and that my body doesn't really like them. Dandelion Greens in my juices are a little too much so we're cutting back on that too. I do eat prepared meals with nuts but can't eat too much so I'm trying to go nut-free for the next week or so to see how I feel. Right there with you on that. We have to experiment and try different things out and listen to our bodies. I didn't end up having cookies yesterday and felt so much better. I have a lot more energy today but woke up with a kinda sore throat (It is FREEZING up in here!) So, going on Ginger & Garlic for the next two days. That should take care of it. It worked really well last time. :)

GreenT Ahhh so wonderful to hear and we're so happy for you! You must feel amazing! Congrats and things are gonna get even better. :D

January Fasters: LET'S DO THIS! January 15th marked in calendar. So excited!!! I don't have a blender so I would have to do a juice fast. I'm so happy that we're all doing this together!

Morning everybody!

Green, and to address blizzards' question....it's up to you what you'd like to do as far as fasting. Myself, I'm doing just juices (maybe even lemon water mixed with herbal teas at some point) because I love the lightness I feel with juicing and I'm looking forward to my digestive functions shutting down for a few days.

Personally in doing just smoothies it stirs up my digestive juices too much and I always feel like I need more with them. Now, others are different..not everybody is the same. I know people that have done smoothie detoxification protocols for months with no issues. I don't think doing a smoothie detox is a a form of fasting but it is definitely a form of detoxification...due to the amount of fiber that's in the smoothie. I also strain my juices so everything digestive-wise is quieted. This is a short fast so it won't be that intense for me...of course, everybody is different.

Have a GREAT day all! :)
