Hi everyone!
Yesterday while I was sitting at my desk at work, I got to thinking about how difficult it has been not knowing anyone else that eats raw foods where I live. It has been a real challenge living with my partner who is a meat enthusiast that doesn't like raw vegetables (because of texture reasons - he's weird! :p ). So I am pretty much doing this all on my own. But this has not deterred me from eating raw foods. I am really excited about this and I know that eating raw foods is a wonderful way to help me with my overall health.
I have decided to eat raw foods for several reasons: I'm quitting smoking, I'm trying to help my acne, I suffer from a heredity condition called lymphedema (although its extremely mild in my case but trying to prevent it from getting worse). I am also trying to go without any meat or dairy (I consume minimal amounts now and hate eggs, gross!)
Anyway - more about me:
I've been raw since the middle of October 2010. I'll be 24 in January. I am currently in my second year of my graduate program. I'm studying to get my Master of Science in Professional Counseling. My expected graduation is May 2012! Yay!
I have been involved with a sexual and domestic violence organization since 2007 as a crisis intervention counselor (volunteer) and have been working as a substitute shelter counselor since September 2008. Along with doing that 1-2 Sundays a month, I work full time at a community residential rehab for adults with dual diagnoses in mental illness and addiction. It is rewarding and I love my job, although it can be very stressful at times!
I love to read, I love animals, and I love biology. Neuropsychology is a huge interest of mine, and I am hoping to get my doctorate in clinical psychology after I receive my MS.
Wow, I hope this wasn't too wordy! I look forward to meeting all of you!
