Today is day 5 of eating raw. I have lost 5 pounds. I am concerned I am not getting enough calories.

My mother in law has voiced her negativity about my choice. She told me in two weeks when I am sick from eating raw she will not feel sorry for me.
She tells me I do not need to lose weight. Has anyone else had family members be so negative?

I am doing this more for a lifestyle change, because there are so many benefits of eating raw!

I have enjoyed the raw lifestyle and plan on continuing it despite family members. Alissa has some awesome recipes.

I have had no headaches since going raw. I feel kinda light headed today, but I feel great overall.

I would avoid talking with her about raw food as much you can. I recommend 12 steps to raw food, she gave great advice on how to deal with the family. She isn't the one to be convinced but you. People will notice at some point how radiant you look and they will ask questions.

Congratulations on your five days. I did lose a lot of weight too but it will settle down. Eat, eat and eat as much you want. Our body store the extra toxin in the fat tissue, so losing that fat isn't bad at all.

Thank you for the pep talk! I read on another post on this board where they were struggling with certain food. One of the posters suggested maybe one day a week they do not eat raw...I do not know how I feel on this. Wouldn't it make your body store all the bad stuff, that week? I like the idea that Fridays maybe I can go out to dinner and eat not 100% raw.

RAM is right. Sometimes it's better not to talk about what you are doing to people who are so negative. Not only because it wears on your resolve, but those kinds of people, if they are to be convinced that this lifestyle is good and healthy, will only be convinced as they watch you live your life. In other words, let them see how you live, not how you talk. If that makes sense.

The other thing is, the only correct way to do raw is the way that's correct for you. And trying different ways of doing it is part of all of our raw journey. If you show to people like your mil your confusion or frustration, they will use that against you, instead of seeing your adjustments and experiments in a positive light.

Thank you. I am so excited to be eating RAW! I have been nothing but positive about it, because I truly believe in it! I will not talk to MIL about it.

Good for you on eating raw!! I have been raw for a month now, and I have dealt tiwth some negativity with my inlaws as well. My parents don't know yet, because they live in Florida, we are going there in April and I am sure they will say something when they see me eat. I agree with rawlight. You have to do whatever works for you. This is my first winter eating raw, so I have been a little chilly in the morning, so I eat raw oats heated my water that comes out of my sink. I also have eaten some warmed soup, that I made that were vegan. Most of the time I am 100% raw, but again I do what is right for me on that day. It is always different.

Stay connected to this forum, it is great! I love it!! :)

If you can do 100% raw this is so much better and you will absorb also more nutrient this way. There is a great difference from 100% and 98%. If you are compulsive eater, you won't be able to do 1 day cook food.

The most important thing in this journey is to get your mind comfortable with this life style, if it means eating cook food once a week so be it, but i would give a try of 100% raw and eat everything you wish for without limit. This way, it will train your mind that this is easy to do raw food.

You will figure out down the road what works for you. Everyone is unique.

You will do great! I love preparring raw food far more then the cook one, especially when it comes to desert. You will see your creativety will be enhance, your energy will get a boost and you will have fun with this journey.

I say a huge congratulations on being headache FREE these past 5 days! I've suffered from headaches and wow, they can be so painful.

Isn't it odd that if you were changing your diet, say, because you were diabetic - then it would be all hunky dory?

I like the advice about not engaging in discussion with your MIL - you sure don't need that kind of negativity ~ Best wishes! Here's to 5 more days, then 5 weeks, then.... (you get the idea!) *Ü*

Cool! Glad you've been raw for 5 days. You sound excited and that is great!! I've been raw for 3 months and said have come across some negative folks--my mother in law and a friend. I really don't talk raw with these people unless they ask questions. They are the ones that just start the negative stuff. I love being raw and feel great!!

Keep being excited.
