Hello everyone! I am new to this site and have been doing a great deal of research on fasting and the raw food diet (thank you Aleesha for all the links!). My experience of fasting is minimal, I have done a 10 day Master cleanse many years ago and had violent symptoms (frequent black outs, tremors, dizziness, extreme weakness, nausea, shortness of breath...etc). I feel like I am ready to try a M/C or Water fast again, (followed by a juice feast to load up on nutrients) to help me transition into a cleaner high raw lifestyle as well as heal my body and underlying conditions. Some studies have stated that there is a high risk of becoming deficient in nutrients when fasting if you are a vegetarian/vegan....I was wondering if this is a true concern and how long is a good time to fast for? (if required I am 123 lbs @ 5"4)
I am also very open to advice or knowledge regarding my past symptoms (I thought I was developing epilepsy! lol)
AND...I intend to start a fast After Christmas if anyone wishes to join me! Probably ease into it and start Dec 28 or 29. What a great way to bring in the New Year! ;)

feel free to come join us in the fasting thread... it's great support.

water fasting... yup you definitely go down and can become deficient... my protein levels dropped doing a 9 day water fast. continuing to juice for 2 months hasn't brought them back up to where they were yet... but they are in a totally safe zone so my doctor isn't at all concerned. just something to know and ponder when thinking about water fasting for the long term.

i do release weight while juice fasting... but only at the beginning... then i maintain my weight... as long as you drink lots of juice you'll maintain. if you don't drink enough calories as to what you are burning... obviously you'll release.

anyway, i hope you'll come on over and join us... we are a supportive group of fasters!
