fuzzy rye berries

So, I just successfully sprouted my first Rye Berries!! :)

But, they seem to have some kind of fuzz on them. Is this normal? Did I sprout them too long? I think it's been about three days that they've been sprouting (not counting the soaking time).

Any ideas?

Congratulations, but I think you sprouted them a little too long. I sprout them until the tails are 1/4 inch long or the tails are as long as the seed. They get kind of hairy looking after that. I usually sprout mine for only a day and a half. Your sprouts may still be good, but I'm not sure.

Oops!!!

They still smell fine, so I might try using them for bread and see what happens.
