Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge.

If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!

Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!

We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.

We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!

In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.

Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,

Cherie

Hello all!!! It seems everyone is busy....I hope that is the case and everyone is doing well on RAW!!

My kids and I got on the wii fit today and I haven't been on there since earlier this year, my weight has gone up according to them...but it's been stable for the last few months.....I am on the obese scale, which I hate, but I KNOW IT'S GOING TO GET BETTER!!! I want to show my children that eating right and exercising will make a difference, they will see my BMI go DOWN, this hurt emotionally to let them see how heavy I really am...to see the TV screen show me on the Obese area of the scale, it hurt emotionally, but it will make a difference to them in the future!! I hope I can be an inspiration to them!!

Today's food:
apple/walnut/raisin/cinnamon/sea salt and chai tea

GS w/ spinach, romaine, barleymax, flax seeds, hemp seeds, banana, mango. It's ok, but I think I put in too many hemp seeds and it made the taste a little funky.

Dinner will be a LARGE salad w/ romaine, spinach, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, celery, onion, marinated mushrooms, olives, balsamic vinegar!! I KNOW this will be good!!!

Peace to you all...make it a great RAW day!!

What does that mean exactly...the obese scale??? I don't know much about Wii. Why do the creators of Wii even have to put that on there? I don't understand. I'm sorry you had to go through that Wendi. I can see that it really hurt you. How does one talk to their children about something like that? Weight is such a big deal ...it really can suck sometimes. Keep up what you're doing and those pounds will melt off and yes, you'll be teaching your kids how to care for themselves and that their mommy made a huge accomplishment! What's more important it would seem to me is the quality of someone's heart and the fact of the matter is yes, obese people stand a greater chance of being sick and suffering from illnesses/symptoms, but that doesn't mean smaller folks can skate by either. I think it's important for kids to know that as well. You go Wendi!

Whew! I'm still in it to win it. Wait a minute...what am I talking about? I'm winning already! Sheesh...gotta poke myself on that one. :) Anyway, the past few days I still haven't eaten much. Today I haven't had anything but water and it wasn't on purpose, I swear!!! I got a late start, then went to the gym, ran some errands afterward and now it's after 6 pm so on that note, I'm off to uncook something yummy!

Happy day 14! :)

I apologize for being incognito lately - it's been an insane two weeks. I've been lurking as much as I'm able though, and I've been intrigued by all this talk of apples/cinnamon/walnuts, so today when I needed something to eat and nothing sounded good, I chopped up an apple, sliced two bananas, threw in some raisins and a few roughly chopped pecans, sprinkled it all with cinnamon, then drizzled a tiny bit of honey over it, stirred it all up, and holy schnikeys, it was amazing. I might finally have something substantial to eat for breakfast when I don't feel like smoothies.

So whoever came up with that - thank you! I can't wait to try it with figs...and blueberries... LOL

Hey guys!!

Today i was so busy at work! I didn't have time to eat  I brought food with me but just didnt have time so i filled up on water lol.

Water
B- Oat groat porridge with raisins and bananas
L- A couple quick caraway flax crackers (I really love these)
D- Salad that was supposed to be my lunch lol. Romaine, swiss chard, carrots, mango, zucchini, red bell, broccoli, radishes, cauliflower, celery, olive oil, italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, thai chili peppers, sea salt
Desert- Ginger cookie
Orange juice

I brought with me the famous Apple/raisins/cinnamon/pecans (im out of walnuts)/ and coconut oil for lunch. I saved it and will have that tomorrow for breakfast...YUMMY!

Wendi, my heart goes out to you! I feel so bad that you had to experience that. Every day, you are that much closer to your goal and tomorrow, today will be a memory. You will be able to look back at this day and smile. You are setting a great example and that is awesome!! Big hugs to you :)

Have a great night !!!

I'm in need of some support
My mother keeps taking me to doctor after doctor after doctor because of this raw food diet. She once even took me to the emergency room for a blood test (which came back perfectly). It's driving me insane. I am now seeing a counselor who thinks I am doing this to "Control my life when the rest of it I cannot". Kept telling her, no, it's just because I feel so much better! But she is persuaded, and I am seeing a traditional (not naturopathic) nutritionist next week...
Being looked at like some kind of freak, I have not even told them that I am raw! I have just told them that I eat a fruit and vegetable, nuts + seeds diet. Sigh!

So much pressure, it is hard to swim upstream, even when you know there is beauty up there... My mom is driving me insane, and I am wondering whether moving away to live with my dad in the US will be of help if that's what it comes to.. My dad may not believe in the raw food thing, but he supports what I believe in, and last time he was up here he actually took me to the farmers market, bought me all that I needed, and said that he was proud of me. Because raw food has single-handedly reversed my depression, anxiety, and all of my physical symptoms... I mean I am able to go to school now! I was out of school because of anxiety, and as soon as I went raw I was able to go back!

Blah.

Glad to have all of you who understand, in such lengths that I cannot even comprehend!

tvillemom: Your strength is admirable! You're doing the right thing in your heart and will show your children the right path to health. There is no better gift you can give them. Keep it up and hang strong! *hugs*

EscapeArtist: Have you sat down with her and explained to her what going Raw is truly about? I found that helpful with some of my family members (they think I'm crazy but still let me do what I do). You would think that seeing the wonderful changes you're already experiencing would be enough to change her mind. You have taken this big step to better yourself and are doing wonderfully. Do what your heart is telling you to do, it will only lead you to where you need to be. Maybe the move with your father will help for the time being and it will be a nice break. This is about YOU, your body and spirit. You will show your mom that you made the decision with results. Best wishes and many hugs! :)

maisielou1 Right there with you! Hang in there, it will all be over soon. *hugs*
