Welcome welcome welcome!!!

Welcome to the 30 day challenge.

If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!

Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!

We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!

WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.

We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!

In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.

Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,

Cherie

Hey everyone! Day 10. Yayyyyy!!! I am so glad I made this commitment to 30days and that I am not alone on the journey. You guys keep me going. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

It’s 10.30am here and it’s thawing. Out of the freezer!

EscapeArtist...Fantastic that you found yourself a blender. I don’t drink GSs everyday but I know I feel better on those days I do. Vivid dreaming seems to be an indication of psychological health, that spiritual intuitive connection that comes to people on raw. You are obviously moving in the right direction. I never remember my dreams so when I do, it’ll be a raw milestone. I am really looking forward to it. I am not depressed (as I was when I stared this raw commitment) but I have yet to feel that euphoria. Lucky you!

GreenT...I see you’ve started Water Therapy. I don’t know whether it’s psychological or not but I feel as if all the cells in my body are bathed every morning!

Mindful mama... I never have a problem sleeping. I look forward to the day when I can wake up! As to eating a lot, I don’t feel that (compared with what I ate before!) but, like EscapeArtist, I don’t really feel hungry. After spending hours making disappointing substitutes, I’ve given up trying and just eat little bits throughout the day. What I feel restless about is not having that full feeling that I regarded as normal - desirable, the goal - in all those decades on a cooked carnivorous diet. I now know that that feeling was actually my poor body saying, “PLEASE PLEASE STOP STUFFING ME. I CAN’T COPE WITH ANY MORE.”!!! I think my brain has to be re-programmed to NOT aim for full or even think in terms of mealtimes. In the meantime it creates feelings of boredom, dissatisfaction that keep me thinking, “What can I eat?” to alleviate these emotional feelings. Long-termers talk of a freedom from thinking about what to eat.

In another thread someone mentioned the grief involved in giving up cooked food (might have been Alissa herself). I really related to that. All my friends and family, everyone I know in fact, eats cooked. Most of them are meat-eaters. For thousands of years we human beings have shared meals as a form of bonding and an expression of love. Actually, thinking about it, every species on Earth shares the eating experience. Until everyone I know goes raw, I can’t share that loving, happy experience with them anymore. (It’s a solution, but not a fully shared experience if you take your own food.) This is a lonely path out of cyberspace. Whoops. Have I just broken the rules for this thread??? I know the benefits of being positive but I also know the dangers of denial. There are great gains to be had from raw, but there are losses too. I guess that’s always been the way for radicals and pioneers. Yes, that’s what we are. So let’s be brave! Let’s not give up! We know what we are doing is right!!!

Golly healthywealthy... You really are on a rollercoaster aren’t you?!

9.09am
woke up with great energy
3.52pm
I am low on fruit, but have no energy to go out
Not to mention all those awful detox symptoms. Poor you. I notice that you are also posting on the December fasting thread. Are you including fast days in with your 30 day raw commitment? Brave girl! I have enough on my plate (!) with eating 100% raw. I do hope to fast one day though. I see Aleesha’s been doing it for 6 months. Wow! Anybody looked at her before and after shots? Now that’s inspiration!!!

About potatoes...I’d always been told they should never be eaten raw, even if they don’t have green skin, so I looked it up and found this:

All potatoes contain substances known as glycoalkaloids. The most common in potatoes are solanine and chaconine. Light reacts with these substances to turn potato flesh green. The green parts of a potato are a guide to where these substances tend to accumulate which is just below the potato skin. Ingested in large quantities these toxic compounds could lead to coma or even death. In smaller quantities the most likely effects are diarrhoea, headaches and stomach cramps. Fortunately these toxic substances are eliminated by thorough cooking. Solanine is the toxic substance found in deadly nightshade which indicates the potential seriousness of eating uncooked potatoes which are, in any case, hard to digest and unpleasantly flavoured.

Checking in before bed. Today I ate: ginger bread, tahini, a GS, coleslaw, tomato & 2 ½ Chocolate Fruit Balls. They were very satisfying. Not feeling at all hungry, very few moments of desiring non-raw (no craving) and no detox symptoms. Just put some cookies in the dehydrator for overnight and wheat berries in soak. So, I’m doing good. So good that I sometimes think I must be doing something wrong! That old self-doubt rearing it’s ugly head again! (Released 6lbs as well although that’s a side-benefit for me.)

GreenT... Glad you are finding benefits from Water Therapy too.

Tvillemom... Glad you have started WT. It can only be beneficial for us, especially for getting rid of those toxins. And it’s free! Love your positive vibe!

Mindful mama...50 days raw! Go you!!! Much appreciation and love to you too. xoxo

Hi to healthywealthy, Zuri, blizzardfrisbee and anyone else posting after this today. We are the champions!!!

HW: glad to hear your day has gone so well! And your sleep :)

GreenT: Sounds like it's really helping you :) That's wonderful! I think i'm going to begin with water therapy tomorrow too..

Mindfulmama, 50 days raw! *Applaud* Yeah, go you! That's amazing :)

I had a lot of energy today, I still do, but chose not to do anything anyways. I had a very weird mid-day emotional detox breakdown where I just started crying. The thing is, crying when you're raw feels VERY different. I don't have any bloated eyelids to squeeze out loads of tears.. As weird as it sounds it was like a whole new experience. It felt like my face couldn't comprehend how to cry, because nothing in my face swelled up or went red or leaky... Anyways

Trying to cut out fruit now, i'm trying to get to a very low fruit/fat diet to rid any candida I feel I have. So today started lowering fruit intake

B: honeydew melon mint kale smothie
S: carrots, collard greens
L: Salad w/ avocado dressing.
D:??
Another day of not being hungry. But my taste buds are beginning to appreciate vegetables :) They taste beautiful today

Oh, I feel my eyes are beginning to go hazel.. Very slightly , definitely not as dark as they were

Had TWO huge GSs yesterday, and one today with kale (yum), a humongous bush of it. :) Had some dehydrated sunflower "burgers" in the fridge, so I ate a bunch of those with a large salad with cucumber dressing tonight. Not hungry at all, and I'm sleeping like a log. Lots of energy.

It also helps to rub lavender oil on the bottom of the feet each night. I used therapeutic grade oils only.
