View Full Version : Treating recurring yeast infection

What do you do?

I've read several natural approaches to treating (vaginal) yeast infections.

(I have never had these things until these year. Or maybe I was asymtomatic!)

Now I have had 3 in 2 months..actually I need to edit: I don't think it ever really went away, but the symptoms did. I also have a case of candida as well, so maybe its all connected.

But I do realize that OTC drugs are not going to treat this.

Here's what I am doing:

Renew life
Yeast cleanse
Garlic insert
ACV
Coconut oil (to lubricate so that when I walk...you get it)

I haven't tried the borac acid (sp?) yet but will if its helpful.

Basically I'd love to know your opinions on treating a recurring yeastie.

I don't believe I am diabetic, but I am going to have that checked this coming monday as well as some other blood work.

Thank you for your help!

Here's what I have been doing. The itchy burning horrible symptoms have been retreating.

I read about this in various places and I was a little hesitant to try it, but I am glad I did. I found relief by stringing a needle and then poking it through 2 cloves of garlic (garlic poked and nicked and shaved) and then inserting it inside overnight. Apparently there is a down-there and mouth connection so its possible to actualy taste the garlic. I can't tell if I've tasted it.

ACV (apple cider vinegar) dabbing for itching. I have found a great deal of relief from this part. The relief lasts about 4 to 5 hours. Ok, here is where I'm going to get kinda intimate I guess...after urinating, I wash with cool water and then apply ACV. I have found a lot of relief doing this!

In the meantime, started taking Renew probiotics for made for female support. I don't mean to ignore men here btw.

After reading a few reports about taking Monistat and how the yeast infection can actually become immune and then subsequently even more impervious to treatment, I decided bite the bullet and to do this naturally. I am very happy and surprised by how well things have been going.

EDIT: Tea tree oil used on occasion by taking a cotton swab and dabbing 100% solution directly on itch areas. Experienced a little itching from this, but after washing area and reapplying at 75% itching subsided. Great cooling effect. I guess at this point I am using my poor little nether region as my own ginuea pig. Will report how effective tea tree oil is.

Anyway, thought I would update in case someone else is suffering from this thing too.

Hi all

I hope this info can help others. That's the only reason I'm going to the trouble.

This morning I saw an MD who practices holistic medicine.

Here's what she told me (info in no particular order of importance)

1) Smoking cigs supresses candida. When a person quits smoking, the candida may begin to grow rapidly (in my case this explains a lot)

2) Candida is linked to heavy metals, also. Mercury fillings can prevent candida from being entirely cleared up (eek)

3) Recurring yeast infections...no brainer

4) Candida and parasites more than often go hand in hand

**********

Ugh, obviously this explains my own problem, which is systemic.

I was put on a colon detox and candida diet and told I must have the teeth issue fixed, that my issues will not fully resolve until this happens. (Opinions wanted, experiences wanted if you have them)

**********

Symptoms still being held at bay by home remedy treatment. No worsening, getting better.

Anyway, thanks for giving me a place to share.

I don't know how you feel about taking supplements. But, I kept getting yeast infections. I ended up taking acidophilus, within a week the infection was gone and it hasn't come back; it's been about a month now. And as added bonus it go rid of my sugar cravings.

I'm with you on fixing a systemic candida problem. Using other ways to clear out potential mercury problem; cilantrol, chlorella. Adya Clarity (see thread by same name) is reported to be good for candida and heavy metal cleansing. At this point getting the fillings replaced is way to high. Upwards of $20,000.

I'm not opposed to supplements. I eat my share daily. Whatever it takes to get this thing cleared up!

I'm going in for a dental consultation. We'll see what they say. I do have some other dental issues that I know need to be taken care of that have nothing to do with mercury; I know getting them cleared up can only help. Thanks for the tips on cilantrol and chlorella and Adya.

20K? What......Dayum.

I had all of my filling removed. If you do them one at a time with a good dentist that would be great for your health.
I do not remember what I paid. Several thousand I am sure but I had a MOUTH FULL of mercury.
Try the Adya too. I have been using a few months now and really like it. I think it swept some candida out of me!

It really is a process isn't it. "I think it swept some candida out of me!" What a visual. ;)

Look up Donna Gates I believe she has some good information on candida.

For me the few times that I had a yeast infection all I did was:
Stop eating fat except for raw organic extra virgin coconut oil -I would add a teaspoon into my green smoothies
Took acidophilus once at night, once in the AM
Injected acidophilus vaginally before i went to bed.
Stopped using the soap I was using - could have been the cause.

2 days later it was gone.

Gotta bring the healthy bacteria back in control!

I hear you.
But at this point the signs of candida-gone-wild can't be ignored. White coated tongue, disgestive, etc etc etc. Hopefully the symptoms won't be back but I have a feeling during major detox...they'll come back. Gonna try the acidophilus injection thing. Sounds dangerous.

Not dangerous :)
I emptied one capsule and mixed with a little room temperature water. Used a plastic syringe to inject it. Very easy. Not sure which part you think is dangerous ?

I meant that it sounds like a dangerous weapon against yeast. :D

Yup, probiotics are a Huge part of fixing the problem.....the other stuff helps as the "bandaide".....everyone who isn't getting probiotics through their diet should be supplementing with them.....they make up 80% of our immune system :)
Hope you are feeling better!!

I just started with probiotics about 3 weeks ago. Does it take some time? I guess I figure that it took me a long time to get sick, so it might take a long time to recover. I hear 4 months to 2 years on clearning up candida.

Also, been researching the gut/immunue connection. Holy cow, I had no idea of this just a month ago. It's easy to see how most people can live their lives eating whatever and never really make the connection.

Thank you, am feeling better yeastie wise. I realize the treatment is just a bandaide, so I'm also cleaning up on a deeper level. As they say, 1 day at a time.

Yes, it can take months to get everything back in balance & that's also dependant on your dietary intake - whether it feeds the candida, or not....

Sounds like you have the right idea with cleaning up on a "deeper level" :)

Best of luck to you & keep us posted on your progress - it could really help others with the same issue!!

Take out sugar entirely right, like processed sugar?! I have yeast too sometimes but also I think my entire body might have some mild candida.
What about fruit is that OK? Or is that too much sugar?

Even a bite of fruit is too much while on a diet specifically to get rid of candida. So they say. I tend to agree only because I know myself, and I can't stop at 1 bite of anything sweet. Processed sugar: no no and no.

But in general, yeah, no sugar of any kind and that includes fruits. But candida can be a complex creature to treat, often requires other steps, such as parasite detox or heavy metal detox.

Every body is different. I had my levels checked. High in heavy metals, moderate to high blood sugar - and of course the candida. I'm pretty serious about getting rid of this junk and being my old happy healthy self again. But it's hard.

I disagree with fruit being an issue if you're completely or mostly raw. This is more something to worry about when eating a SAD diet. If you focus on being as raw as possible and just don't overdo it on high sugar fruits, dried fruit or fats (which you shouldn't overeat anyhow) and take a high quality probiotic such as Garden Of Life Primal Defense, you should be able to eventually get rid of candida issues. Taking supershots of Adya Clarity has helped many too, as it's been mentioned.

I totally forgot about the Adya Clarity - adding that to my list of to get.

Yeah, you know I feel the same way about the fruit. I don't eat a lot and wouldn't intend on it..but I like some pineapple in my morning smoothie. Not a ton, just a few chunks. I hear different things from different medical and natural practictioners about the fruit/candida issue. I'm thinking, let my body show me by practicing on myself, trial and error.
