Hello,
My name is Sophie, I am 40 and live in NY. I started raw one month ago...for the second time. I tried it for about three weeks, 100%, three years ago. I used Sazzie's book " Detox your word" but gave up. I remember eating a lot of nuts and oil because of the recipes and it did not agree with my digestive system at all. It was too expensive and complicated and I just gave up.
I decided to start again one month ago when I finally realised I was so toxic. I can't explain it, I just feel "toxic". I feel like so much toxins have accumulated in y body for the past 8 years. I have also gained an extra 15 pounds since my pregnancies that would not budge no matter how "healthy" I eat. I am not 100% , not even close. This time I decided to go slowly and keep it simple and so far it's working well.
I cut all refined sugars and junk food, grains, beans and dairy. I still eat cooked eggs once in a while and some cooked chicken and may be tuna fish once a week. I drink green smoothies for breakfast or a fruit salad and my two other meals are usually salads or raw veggies. I eat bananas and figs and sometimes a handful of seeds or nuts when I am hungry between meals for now. I also have a little raw chocolate as a snack everyday.
The first week was very hard, I had very strong craving for wine, breads and pastas. I don't really have a sweet tooth so giving up sugar was not a big deal. I was hooked on diet coke and surprisingly I have not had cravings for it, not even the first day I started to change my diet. I have been trying to give that up for years and would never go 2 or 3 days without a diet coke!
So here I am, feeling good, better sleep, better mood, lost a little weight. The only weird thing so far is now I've got bags under my eyes and they are kinda of redish and I am losing my hair a little more. May be I am detoxing something? I feel so much better though. I think this time it is it and I will stick with it (c: I am looking forward into moving closer and closer to 100%, one step at a time.
Thanks you
Sophie
