I like to exercise first thing in the morning, but I wake up famished. Any suggestions what I can eat before exercising? Something that would just take away the hunger without feeling too full to exercise.

Whatever makes you feel good. Some folk can eat before movement, I rarely do. Maybe what you're needing is fluid. Not drinking for 8+ hours, one is very often dehydrated. I'd begin with that.

Since I am juice feasting, I might just consume a teaspoon of flaxseed oil. Eating before I exercise makes me sick, but having an empty stomach before exercising makes me sick as well.

I am hoping that flaxseed oil will add something to my belly without making me ill.

Green Smoothie with lots of fruits, your body needs fast energy, your reservoir needs to be filled with sugar and a GS is not stressing your body.

It's a fine line for many people, to eat something, but at the same time not overload their tummies. I'm one of those who has to be really careful about what and how much I eat in the 2-hour time frame before working out. However, I've found that getting in something fast-acting and light is a piece or two like oranges or a banana. Easy and usually always available! Either that or part of a green smoothie, plus the latter has the greens to slow up the sugar release so one can keep going - that part is important too. Both fast-acting, and slow-acting sugar release, because one's muscles need it for energy. For me, anything with too much fat isn't a good idea before exercise.

Good ideas...that helps. Thanks!

cara4art, you're right about "part" of a smoothie. If I drink a full smoothie...forget the exercising as I feel too full.

I keep physically active every day and notice my own habits with how I eat before/after...
Typically, I always try and remember to drink tons of water right when I wake up. I usually do some stretching or light cardio movements like jump rope just to get a little more awake.
On most days, depending on what I feel I need I'll usually make a big veggie/fruit juice with like 3-5 different food items (mixture of brocolli, kale, apple, celery, carrot, cucumber, ginger, grapefruit, orange, spinach, etc etc) which tends to help me with swimming especially.
On other days I'll make a wholesome smoothie (something like banana, spinach, goji berry, squeezed orange juice or pressed almond/sunflower seed milk, cacao, whatever nutrient dense foods I have around)

I tend to save my nuts, seeds, dense protein/fat sources for afterward.

Plus I like to take some local bee pollen before workout and spirulina afterward.

I have started making my own, completely raw version of Larabars at home. I keep them frozen and I just put one in my bag to eat after work just before I hit the gym. By the time work is out I'm hungry enough for a quick snack anyway, and they hold me over very well until time to make dinner. The batch I have now is made of dried cherries, walnuts, dates, and cinnamon. Delicious!

I can't do green smoothies before exercise because they go right through me!

I love this pre-workout:

Banana or two, sliced
Almond butter
Honey

Place banana slices in a bowl and drizzle almond butter over them and then drizzle honey over them!

At the moment I have a fruit smoothie before to give me fuel and then a huge green salad afterward to repair the damge as soon as possible.
