Man, I have been loving these lately. They come out super crispy and tasty and are the perfect thing for keeping me eating raw. A photo can be seen at my blog (http://28cooks.blogspot.com/2010/11/sweet-and-spicy-sweet-potato-chips-this.html).
Sweet and Spicy Sweet Potato Chips
2 sweet potatoes
Olive oil
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp raw sugar
Peel sweet potatoes. Slice thinly, using either a mandoline or vegetable peeler. Place in small bowl and drizzle a small amount of olive oil over, tossing well to coat. Add seasonings and mix well. Place onto dehydrator shelves and dehydrate at 105 degrees for 24 hours, until crispy and dry.
Enjoy!

Mine got very very crispy. I used a vegetable peeler to make the strips.

Ok... so they are tasty! :)
a) the peeler certainly made crispier chips.
b) it took much longer to dehydrate. Granted I live in FL so everything takes longer to dehydrate.
happy uncooking!

Christian,
Did you use the exact coating recipe? Were they good enough to make again?
Thanks!

These are DELICIOUS!!! I used a veggie peeler, they came out nice and crisp.
I didnt have garlic powder so i used onion powder and i have ran out of crushed pepper so i used cayenne. I will definitely be making these again...probably ALL the time. I love them!!!
Thanks SOOO much for this recipe!

I'm glad you like them! I, too, was really surprised by how crispy they come out, but they are quite delicious and the perfect thing for those salty snack cravings!

no.. i must confess I don't touch sugar anymore so I subbed some agave.
Yes i will make them again.. my only complaint is that my 9 tray doesn't make enough of them. :)
Christmas wish: Excalibur, please design 100 tray dehydrator. Thank you.

Had a look at the pic on your blog, they look so delicious!
My dehydrator is in the mail.. so excited, looking in my postbox every day, checking for that yellow card for large item collection... I can't wait to use it and your chips are going to be no 1 on the list of things to make!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the recipe. They sound delicious. Can't wait to try em. I didn't follow the recipe exactly cus it just didn't seem like enough spice for me. LOL
And I don't have a dehydrator so I just put em in the stove at the lowest setting, 170f, and then wedged a wooden spoon in the door. House is smelling like garlic at the moment. :D

I have checked your blog and I must say they look great, I'm just into raw and do not have yet a dehydrator but once I have one for sure I will start to make them first.
