Welcome welcome welcome!!!
Welcome to the 30 day challenge.
If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!
Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!
We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!
WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.
We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!
In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.
Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,
Cherie

Hi all.
Blizzardfrisbee and shooflygirl...Thanks for sharing re: pain relief. It really encourages me to keep going.
EscapeArtist...Emotional detox is just as hard as hard as physical. Think of the bliss to come when it’s all out!!! That’s another thing that’s keeping me going. I started with depression and anxiety issues and in just a week I notice that they have reduced to almost nothing. The medical fraternity really need to grasp this mind/body connection. Glad you are noticing a difference too. Here’s to Life!
Mindful mama... Lost posts? Been there. Done that!!! Glad you’re here. I started drinking 1.5L of water on waking after reading about Water Therapy. It definitely makes a difference to my health. It doesn’t come easily to me though. I have never liked anything healthy except fruit!
AllergyGirl...The recipe for Banana Bread is from LOLF. It does call for sprouted wheat though:
3 cups sprouted wheat berries
3 bananas
½ cup dates, pitted and soaked
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Blend all ingredients well in a food processor. Place on a teflex sheet on top of mesh dehydrator screen. Form dough into a loaf and dehydrate at 105 degrees for 18-24 hours. Turn loaf after 10 hours.
It does take a long time but is very easy. The wheat berries have to be really well processed – absolutely no whole grains left in the mixture. The bread falls apart if you don’t. (I broke a filling on one when I tried to make slices in the dehydrator!) It took about 6 goes in my FP. That’s the most effort required! This bread is very moist. It’s very like the date malt loaf we get here in the UK. I’m going to try a ginger one today.
Have a great day everyone. Thinking of you particularly AllergyGirl as you sit your finals.

Hello~:)
It's been a couple of very hectic days but I am doing okay. Still haven't made time to dehydrate anything but really need to do that so I have some more choices. I don't like a lot of recipes but have found some standbys that really help and are so good.
My favorites-
Granola
Kale Chips
Flax crackers
Mango/Peach Flat Bread (my recipe)
Candied Nuts
Marinated Kale Salad
Guacamole
Avo/Cacao pudding
Avocado Chutney
Pesto Mushrooms
Cranberry Almond Slaw
Moonie Pies
Between the daily green smoothies, fruit, juices, salads & cacao/maca almond milk smoothies that's pretty much what I eat.
Sometimes I feel deprived because I can't eat the junk I might crave...but when you really look at it...raw is about abundance.......and there are so many beautiful, life-giving foods to choose from...and the color...wow!!!!
Ok..I'm jazzed!!!! *doing happy dance*

Good Morning Everyone!
I love the way everyone is making it work during this challenge! It gives me the incouragement to know that even if things don't go as scheduled, I can "hang in there" and make it work...maybe sacrifice for a moment to feel the results of sticking to the 100% plan later!!!
Today's plan:
barleymax
apple/walnuts/raisins w/ cinnamon and coconut oil
GS w/ barleymax, romaine, spinach, carrot, celery, avo, stevia, hemp seeds, sundried tomatoes (no fresh ones left, so I'm using what I have!!)
Dinner will be a salad at a Christmas dinner party.....
That's it.
Ya'll have a GREAT DAY!!! I will try to check in later!!

Hope everyone is having a good day and keeping warm~

The energy here is amazing!! I am so glad that people are HERE during this challenge, I needed the support!!!
I can't wait to get my "d" back. It has been broken now for well over a year, maybe about 2 years....I need new parts that I can't afford, but hopefully "Santa" will bring them, if not soon, maybe after Christmas!! I can't wait to make some RAW COOKIES and GRAWNOLA....I JUST CAN'T WAIT!! Oh yeah...and KALE CHIPS...I LOVE KALE CHIPS!!!
ok...gotta stop dreaming of what is not possible right now. I would like to make some NON DEHYDRATED TREATS....DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY GREAT IDEAS THEY WOULD LIKE TO SHARE??? I can't afford expensive ingredients either. I have no cacao and can't afford $20/bag for it!!! I MIGHT be able to buy some carob....I might be able to purchase organic cocoa, but I don't know if I really want to do that. MACAROONS sound yummy, but I think they need a "d"
Ok. I'm done having a sweet tooth meltdown :D I am gonna purchase the coconut and walnuts and berries/fruit to make Jennifer Cornbleet's bumble berry pie (if that is what it is called...??) It looks really yummy and I know I can save the pie crust and just use alittle at a time with some fruit!!!
now I'm off to have some sauerkraut and a savory GS for lunch!!!!

By the way, I think it would be really neat to keep the fruit and pie crust seperate and use a really small single serving dish to make a mini stacked cake....maybe line one of those mini dessert dishes that are round (they have a name I can't remember) with plastic wrap and layer your berry pie and then flip it out.....YUMMMMMM....yeah....I gotta make this after grocery day on Thursday!!!

If you can stand the cold, a great treat that doesn't require a dehydrator is strawberry ice cream. Put 1 frozen banana, 8 frozen strawberries, and about 1-2 Tablespoons water in the food processor and let it go until it's blended and looks like soft-serve ice cream. It takes it a couple of minutes, and at first it will look really weird, but I promise at the end it tastes like the best strawberry ice cream you've ever had. You might need to stop and scrape the sides down once or twice, then just let it go until it's smooth and creamy.

Hey people--Day 7 and my birthday to boot!! I teach 7th and 8th graders. They knew it was my bd and brought in a "veggie" cake. This was cut up veggies in a cake pan. Cute and thoughtful I thought.
Today-- had the rest of the banana/chocolate pudding for breakfast
Lunch--- at a restaurant-- huge salad
Dinner-- I'm just gonna cut up some veggies and add a little dressing.
Snack --made Alissa's candied nuts in RFFE book.
Have a great day!!

Banana, orange
Lemon cookie
Corn chowder (thanks AllergyGirl – found this very satisfying), Mediterranean Almond bread
2 dried fruit leathers
Grated carrot and apple, raisins, cashew mayo wrapped in lettuce (inspired by healthywealthy - hello and thanks)
Lemonade (agave)
Blizzardfrisbee...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! And how adorable of your kids!
GlimR...Thanks for sharing your list of standbys Lou. I like Kale Chips too and anything with avocados. What are Moonie Pies? And do you have the Granola recipe?
tvillemom...I found this recipe for Chocolate Fruit Balls today which doesn’t need dehydrating. Haven’t tried it but it looks like it might be good for a sweet tooth. I might make it tomorrow. Obviously you would need to substitute the cocoa powder with raw carob and find a way of processing it by hand (are you still without a FP?):
1 cup nuts – raw almonds, cashews, macadamias
1/2 cup organic pitted chopped dates
1/2 cup dried chopped apricots
1/2 cup raisins
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 Tbsp fresh orange juice
a couple of drops – 1/8 tsp of natural almond essence
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup desiccated coconut
Mix the coconut and cinnamon. Put all other ingredients in a food processor, and slowly add in the orange juice if it doesn’t bind together completely. Roll into small balls and coat with the coconut mixture.
I felt dissatisfied today...wanting something but not knowing what it is. I used to feel like this on cooked as well when I would indulge in wheat and sugar (and occasionally chocolate). It didn’t satisfy then and it won’t satisfy now because this is emotional hunger, not physical so point indulging. Not only would it not satisfy, but my self-esteem would plummet and then I would get depressed etc. etc. So hanging on in here.
We’ve made it a week (some more, some less)! It’ll be plain-sailing from now on!! Well done everyone!!!

Hey Everyone... :(
Today I just ate fruit all day long... I didn't feel lie eating GS...
It just wasn't a good day at all..... I was so close to quitting... I'm stressed, lack of confidence... And craving for the necessary!!...
But I managed to pull it off....
Have any of you felt like this??.. What do you do??... How can I make it better?? HOw can I go around those negative feelings??... I hate it!!!... And I almost hate myself for feeling like this!!!
Congratulations on all of you who have managed to stick around!!... :D

Hellloooo
Blizzard, that is so thoughtful and cute!! How nice of them, aw!
I see two people above me who are having just as hard a time as I am.. Hang in there you two!! And remember to drink plenty of water!
Adriana, some greens might help you feel a bit better and calm down any cravings. Maybe go for a walk too?
Today I was exhausted all day. I barely have the energy to stay awake. In fact, I fell asleep at my computer an hour ago. Found myself kind of leaning forward and drooling, asleep! I'll try to recount the things I ate today because I just chain-snacked all day, I felt dissatisfied all day, and as soon as my younger sister began to fill the house with the wonderful scent of bacon, I knew that if I stopped eating I would be in trouble. Feel safe now, though, after looking in the mirror and seeing how soft and bright my skin is getting already!
For some reason I feel like i'm not detoxing fast enough. Maybe because I realize this diet isn't exactly alkaline yet.. But... That's the next step...Just hang in for this one first..
Also, I feel like I am beginning to have less-oily hair. I haven't washed my hair with shampoo in a year now,and it is very hard to do that on cooked. I'm hoping raw will be the cure to the problems I've been having with that...
In random order throughout the day:
1 head purple kale, 1 cucumber, 4 carrots, 4 cactus pears, 2 bananas, 1 persimmon, 1 apple, 1 avocado, tbsp chia seeds soaked w/ lemon juice.
I'm going to try for more order and less grazing tomorrow.. But it's so hard when I'm starting to feel so... tired and unsatisfied!

Hi guys!!
Looks like some good eats going on today! I was really busy today at work and wasn't able to finish my lunch. I snacked a bit throughout the day on some carrots, grapes, and sweet/spicy chips. I finished the rest of my lunch for dinner and made a juice that Alissa mentioned in a post this week...Apple, kiwi, lemon and ginger. That was really good and refreshing!
I love reading what other people are having for the day and all these neat recipes. It really helps to give me a better idea of what to eat with more variety..Thanks guys!!
Adriana and Escape- It helps me to stay on track once i learned the truth of what they are putting in the SAD food. Processed foods and the artificial things they add in such as corn syrup and corn starch to name a few are really bad for us. It causes diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and all sorts of stuff. The more i learned about the foods and all of the bad stuff that is in it and what it is doing to our health, really makes SAD food unappealing to me...its literally like shoving poison into our mouths. Staying on a diet that consists of foods that are natural and meant for us to eat not only heals us from many illnesses, but ends up making us feel terrific! I think about how horrible i feel on SAD food and that encourages me to stay raw. You guys can do it, just take one day at a time. Its your body, if you treat it well..it will treat you well in return :) Big hugs to both of you!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLIZZARD!!!
Its my husbands birthday today too...:D

Happy day December 7!
Happy Raw Birthday Blizzard!!
A thought; this lifestyle of eating is such an amazing gift that you are giving yourself. Your body is loving this life filled food; colorful, rich, pure. Moments of feeling down, dissatisfied, emotional are moments of your body processing. I think of those moments as my body shedding a past experience, my mind labels it as "dissatisfied" "hungry" etc. But what I'm really looking for is support. That is a perfect moment to stop, BREATHE, connect to your core, and express gratitude to yourself for the amazing work your mind, body, and spirit have done for you. Your support, your love, your strength comes from within.
You are doing such a good job!!
Today;
water water water
B- honeydew melon
L- GS
s- banana chips, raisins
s- apple
D- big salad- romaine, cucumber, alfalfa sprouts, mung bean sprouts, avo, lemon, hemp seeds-- this is a good one!
