Welcome welcome welcome!!!
Welcome to the 30 day challenge.
If you haven't already... please take a moment to read the posting rules/guidelines (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/announcement.php?a=3) of this section. Thanks!
Welcome to the Monthly Raw Challenge!
We're excited about this new area of the forum that is specifically for those of you who are eager to commit to a month of eating 100% raw foods and seeing miraculous results!
WE (one of the moderators) will start a new challenge thread on the first of every month.
We want the focus of these monthly challenge threads to be on staying raw and accountability. Therefore, if you have eaten all raw and then slip up and have something cooked, we don’t want you to beat yourself up over it or dwell on it, but this is not space to discuss it. You are more than welcome to document it in your journal/blog or ask for help in the discussion area, but it is not necessary (and not allowed) to discuss your slip-up here in the challenge threads, just get right back on track and keep going!
In the event that you feel you are not quite ready to fully commit to the challenge and you find yourself having slip-ups often, then please join us again during the following month. Of course you are still more than welcome to participate on other parts of the forum, but we would really like to keep this section dedicated to those who are committed to doing 30 days 100% raw.
Peace, Blessings and Warmest Regards,
Cherie

Thank you for the great inspiration this morning, Life!!! I finally got my laptop plugged in (it was dead yesterday and due to Christmas decorations everywhere I could not find the cord) so I went back and read everyone's post from yesterday!!
YA'LL ARE ALL DOING SOOOOOO GREAT!!! Dispite adversity and complications of all kinds everyone posted great results!!
I was NOT raw in November...it started out that way and then I gave up. I was exercising everyday and did not release 1 single pound....I was working out hard too!!! Anyway, I weighed yesterday and then this morning and released 2 pounds.:D CRAZY, but it always seems my body will only release weight on RAW, HEALTHY, LIFE GIVING FOODS!!!
Today, I have no plan....I have some nut pate left that I need to eat, so I will probably eat that sometime during the day....of course I will have a GS!!
I ate alot of fat yesterday, but this morning I feel great!!! I think my body does better on raw, plant based fats....my moods are level....I think I am pre-menopausal and I need the fats to be healthy!!! I also woke up without a headache this morning for the first time in weeks!!
I will post again later.....
KEEP IT RAW!!!

Blessings to everyone today!
Life - that was so great to read this morning. Thank you.
TV - hang in there. I know what you mean about "needing" fats - there are days I need to eat heavier with more nuts or oil in the salad, etc. Go with the flow sista!
I hope you all feel great and have a wonderful day...

I found a place last night that has amazing salads you can make to order with tons of ingredients including avocado..great to find a place DH and I are both happy.
So far today-
water w/lemon
gs w/fresh oj, spinach, blueberries, frozen banana, mango & papaya(1 1/2 qts.)
planning a big salad for lunch w/spring mix, clementines, green apple, cucumber, red onion, dried cranberries, glazed pecans & walnuts, vinaigrette.
cranberry almond slaw w/avocado
cacao/maca smoothie w/almond milk, goji berries, fo-ti & frozen banana
Hoping to make some macaroons today....love them and like getting in the extra coconut.

Everyone did great yesterday.....hope everyone has a good day~

Life- thanks for the rainbow!
Tv- that's awesome!! if this experience becomes challenging, just come back to this moment of ease in releasing 2 lbs just by eating!
Raspberry& tv- I'm with you on needing fats. The amount of almond butter & avos I COULD eat in a day borders on the obscene. Because of that, I feel the need to limit myself- a couple Tbls of AB & 1 avo for the day. Do you limit, or just listen?
Seductive- welcome! My new favorite juice is honeydew cucumber!
Glim- your food sounds delicious!
Still not healthy today. Congested, thick head, tired. In bed, loving the opportunity to care for myself. Rest, meditation, breath, water, juice, reception. Food???

Mama: I was feeling congested and like I was going to get really sick. I added fresh ginger and garlic to my green juice for two days and it cleared me right up. Give this a shot? It should help. :)

I woke up at 3 am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I finally got up and did my rebounding video. I couldn't finish it, but did about half - I am a work in progress. I've been starving ever since, and in fact I sucked my green smoothie down in about 7 seconds flat. Usually I drink on it for about 3 hours and don't finish it until 8 or 9, but today it was gone by 5 am. So I hope I brought enough food with me for this long day - gonna be rough if I didn't.
I have corn chowder for lunch and fruit for snacks. I'll probably have a big salad for dinner.
Hey all! Thanks so much for that poem lifeAgift. :) Well Rawbies, I'm totally winging it today. I just threw some random raw foods in my bag and was out the door as I was running late. I will definitely be sipping on some rooibos tea throughout the day. It's coooooold here in Baltimore..brrrrr. Can you tell I love warm weather over the cold? :) I'm so happy to read everybody is hanging in there as well, with all of the challenges we're dealing with. I always figure it feels way better than it would on SAD. Will check in throughout the day. Enjoy your day all!

Rasberry4: Great to see you....hang in there today
GlimR: in our GS....are you using fresh papaya? I've always been alittle afraid of it. Also, what are you putting in your cranberry almond slaw...sounds delish!!!
Seductive Arts: good luck on your juice fast! Great way to start the healing process!
Mindful mama: I just listen to my body....eat what I want as long as it's raw. This is what Alissa recommends and it has never let me down. Eating more fats seems to help with my hormones...I can feel the difference mentally!! This must be true because Dr. Oz talks about the importance of the GOOD healthy plant fats!! I ALSO make sure I get enough greens and veggies...not ALL fats, if you know what I mean!!
Delise: so glad you are doing better! I always tell all my friends, "when you have a cold, do a juice fast" they look at me like I'm crazy!! It works for me!!!
AllergyGirl: do you have a "recipe" for that corn chowder???? sounds delish, I love corn chowder!!!
Zuri: BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, YOU ARE AWESOME!! I can't wait to HEAR how things went for you today and what you actually ended up eating!!!
OK...I'm getting back to the real world....just wanted to check in here and see how everyone is doing....and ya'll are doing FANTASTIC!!!

I do - but I'm not at home right now. I posted it in the thread we had promoting this one before December (if you can follow that train of thought, I'm impressed!). But I'll try to remember to find it at home later and post it here too. I took the "cheezy corn chowder" recipe that Snowdrop had posted here a long time ago and modified it to suit my tastes. I love it. :D

I survived day one without coffee. I wonder when the headache will go away!
I ate so many beautiful foods yesterday and my kids did too! Blackberries, rasberries, avacado, spinach and some raw flax crackers. I think I am a bit too hungry so I am off to make my first batch of energy soup. Challenge for today: make raw cookies for my annual cookie exchange. I think I will probably get the award for the "most original." I found the recipe on rawtable.com and they are called Chocolate Chewies.
Breakfast - 1 banana, 1 apple
Lunch - 1 green smoothie, 1 piece of raw cheesecake, 1 portion of corn salad
Dinner - TBD! :)

Hello everyone!
So, I'm totally new at all this and today is only my 4th day being 100% raw. I was so excited about starting that I couldn't wait 'til Dec. 1. I must say those first 3 days where a little rough, but today, on my 4th day, I woke up feeling great! I already lost some weight, I font know exactly how many pounds because I refuse to weight myself lol but I know I've lost weight cuz I feel it on my clothes, and see it in my face.
Moving on, I just wanna thank everyone on here for sharing all they do, and know, it's very helpful to me since I'm barely learning. I really try and pay attention to what others are having during the day, so that I can eat that way too. As one of my worries is that many I'm not eating enough or eating enough greens with all the goodies my body needs. So, you guys are a great help, thanks!
I'll keep posting and learning from you all.

It makes things a lot easier. :) I love going by how my clothes fit and know my ideal dress size. We'll pay attention to you too and could learn some things by what you eat so share if you like.
Thanks for the support everybody too! I appreciate it. Sending you some support too shoofly and that wrap sounds delish Delise.
My day is challening thus far. Can anyone say, DETOX? 'nuff said right? Definitely hitting the gym today to sweat some of this stuff out. I can't wait to get home. Will post eats this evening. :)

cris: Welcome aboard and congrats on your 4th day! We're here and you're going to make it successfully! I'm with you on the 'increasing greens' thing. I've been doing green drinks and simply increased the amount. Are you juicing? That's the best way to get greens. Eating and entire bowl of kale and collars would not be easy. Best of luck on your Raw journey!!
Zuri: The wrap sounded really good but it was missing something... More tomatoes maybe? I needed to use up that Tahini that was sitting in the fridge. BUT that's what cooking... well, 'preparing' food with love is about... We'll build up the wrap from there and shift some things around. I'll let you know when the recipe is complete and delish. hehehe :)
BTW: been meaning to ask you... Do you know where we can get bulk wheatgrass around the area? I need to get some sooon and don't know where to. We'll eventually grow it ourselves but it would be nice to get it somewhere now. Tried WF and Organic stores around... No luck..
Hang in there with the detox and think of how wonderful this is for you! You can do it! go! Go! Go! gooooo Zuri! :D

Okay, so I don't know (I do know, I'm RAW) but I have so much energy right now I want to go for a walk. really bad... It's not a bad feeling at all, but amazing actually. I just had that wrap and I want to get up and dance... *deeeeep breath* must.... stay... put.... til'... 3pm. Looks like the combination of weightlifting and cardio this morning are PERFECT!
Going for walk after work... See you guys tomorrow! Hope the rest of your day is FANTASTIC!

spinach
1 avo
spinach
taco meat- soaked pecans, carrot, onion, garlic cumin, sea salt
EVOO, Nut. Yeast*
marinated french green beans- EVOO and shoya place in ziploc a room temp for about 1hr- delicious
Apple slice with dip- cashew, coconut oil, sea salt ,agave
WATER:rolleyes:
*items that require an upgrade due to uncertainty about temp. in manufacturers preparation or elimination all together as they are simply a transition item

You know, I used to do wheatgrass and when I did I grew it at home. I honestly don't think any place sells it in bulk or even loose. It's pretty easy to grow. This site is pretty good and I've gotten stuff from them in the past: http://www.wheatgrasskits.com/
Thanks so much for the support Delise! Loved reading about all that energy you had today. That's fantastic. I did make it today, and I didn't end up being that hungry because my bowels finally decided to start moving since I started this journey on Sunday!!!!!! Being patient paid off.
Eats today:
lots of rooibos tea w/agave nectar
raw ginger snaps
Lara bar
carrots & peas
golden apple
Now I'm trying not to devour a blueberry, cranberry, banana w/Brazil nut milk smoothie w/water too fast...YUMMOOOO :) The day was difficult but that's how it is when you're detoxifying, so I'll get over it and it won't last forever. Talk to you all tomorrow. So happy to read your posts and to be able to come here and talk with like-minded people. The energy on this challenge on this board is phenomenal.

Hi all!
Flygirl- congrats on a day wo coffee! No small accomplishment!
AG- how do you like rebounding? I've been considering purchasing a rebounder for sometime.
Cr!s- welcome to raw!! Great to have you join us.
Zuri- I hope you enjoyed your sweat. Get it out!!
Delise- enjoy that raw energy!!
Gift- that photo is amazing!
Adriana- I've never tried water cress in a smoothie. I find bok choy to be 'spicy' or 'peppery' or something hard to describe, I love it with mango.
Maisielou- hi! Didn't want to leave you out!
So the last two days I have added in Raw Ginger to my juices and eaten raw garlic to help push push out my cold. I took the day off work today. (trying hard not to think about the $$$, my health is so much more important!)
2 quarts lemon water
coconut water
1st meal (can't call it B since it was about 1:30) green smoothie- 4 bananas, 4 cups spinach, spiralina, cacao, macs, camu camu, coco water
made those coco macs, tried a bite before putting it them the D. Yum!
snack- some banana chips
D- big salad- romaine, cuke, avo, 1/2 orange squeezed, pom seeds, hemp seeds. This is a great salad!!
The macaroons I made are tiny, I had a few after dinner.
Sweet Thai delight tea w a bit of almond milk.
Will eat more garlic soon and maybe a apple or 2 before bed. And a lot more water!
Got some walnuts soaking for pate. Will post recipe tomorrow. And will soak brazil nuts for mylk tonight. (thanks for the idea!!)
feeling much better! Lots of rest and only 5 hours of work tomorrow, Friday!! Also looking forward to a Rolfing session.
Happy day 2!

WOW everyone is really eating good today!!
Delise, a wrap with tahini sounded really good. I came home and made that for dinner with what i had and switched it up. I did curly romaine lettuce and filled them with carrots, zucchini, red bell pepper, avocado, red onion. Then i made a paste out of Tahini, nama shoyu, garlic, agave nectar, and lots of cheyenne, I made it like a sweet and really spicy paste. Then sprinkled the wrap with a touch of sea salt. This was SOOOO good, i licked the bowl clean lol. I am making this again for lunch tomorrow. Thanks so much Delise for the tahini wrap idea!!!
Snacks for tonight im going to have a few of those macaroons that i made :)
Blessings to all of you and big hugs! Keep up the good work everyone!!

Hi all!
It's been a really long day.
AdrianaH: with the watercress, which I've never PERSONALLY eaten, I'm thinking if it's a spicy type taste...why not add it to a SAVORY SMOOTHIE. This would be more like a blended salad. I would add tomato, celery, cucumber, AVO (avo gives it creaminess) and any spices like cumin, etc...I like this type of smoothie and have it often!!! I just use spinach and not watercress!!
My food for the day:
Barleymax
chopped apple w/ walnuts, raisins, cinnamon and coconut oil
trail mix
trail mix
trail mix
(trail mix contained almonds, pecans, raisins, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, I mixed up and carry when I leave the house....only I didn't plan on eating it the rest of the day....no money to buy a salad or anything, but I survived!!)
WARM TEA BEFORE BED....GOODNIGHT!!

snack watermelon
lunch sunflower seed pate and flax crackers
dinner taco meat in romaine leaves
lots of fat today, felt i needed it.

AG- how do you like rebounding? I've been considering purchasing a rebounder for sometime.
I'm not really sure, I haven't done it a lot yet. I have really bad feet - no arches, and pretty severe plantar fascitis, and I do notice that it bothers my feet. I tend to skip some (not all) of the moves they do in the video and instead either do small bounces or just kind of march in place. There are certain things that they do that really bother my feet. I'm hoping that if I kind of work up to it, it will work out okay, but we'll see.

Been doing this a few weeks now, recovering from a severe bout of fibromyalgia (barely getting out of bed, so much pain! Could hardly walk).... finally have a name for it (they thought it may have been MS, but thank goodness the tests read not so) This laced with several other issues such as arthritis, carpel tunnel and several deficiencies. I took my health in my own hands AND believe it or not, with approval from a team of docs went raw again. I can walk, lift weights and am not it utter total pain only after a few weeks! :)
Appetite not great, but after having baby I am not underweight, so no worries. I'm listening to my body right now.
banana
small salad -romaine, 1/4 avocado, onion slice, sunflower seeds, tomato, mushroom, raw dressing

I was suppose to be juice fasting , but I cheated on the first day. I didn't have a bowl movement all day long, since I ate SAD yesterday. This got me worried so I juiced 75% and had a huge plate of raw turnip greens with lime juice, sea salt and cayenne pepper in order to give me fiber to help the poop come along.
But the rest of my juice fast will be liquid. Hopefully, I make poopie tomorrow.

AdrianaH...I've tried watercress in smoothies a couple of times but never again. It burns! Definitely one for the salad bowl.
Zuri...I would like to talk about detox but this isn't the thread for it (although it's not really negative). "See" you on the other one?
