I bought a two pound package of raw spanish peanuts last night. I was thinking of making peanut bars with pureed bananas and honey and salt in the dehydrator. But I don't have a clue about how long to soak the peanuts. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or does anyone have any suggestions for recipes with raw spanish peanuts?

I've been knoshing on them since last night. They are very good and they are mild. They have a little bit of a green taste to them like raw sunflower seeds. I'm pretty picky and I liked them. I was a little surpised too. Figured I'd miss that salty crunchy combo.

I made a banana nut "muffin" recipe last night. Here it is:

7 bananas
1/2 - 3/4 cup raw clover honey
1 1/2 tsp real salt
1/3 cup flax seeds

Blend these in the food processor till whipped. Then pulse in about 1 1/2 cups raw spanish peanuts (or any other nut) till blended. Or you could stir them in by hand.

I put about 2 heaping tablespoons in paper muffin cups and fill the dehydrator trays full and sprinkled cinnamon on tops of muffins. Dehydrated for 10.5 hours on 115 degrees.

These turned out great but a little thin! I would definitly put about twice as much mixture in each cup when I make them again. Even my SAD co-workers loved them. I served them with sliced bananas sprinkled with cinnamon. AWESOME and QUICK!

Katrina, thanks for sharing your recipe with us! I'm glad they turned out so well. How did you think of putting this together? (I'm hoping one day I will get to the point where I have the courage to just throw things together and develop my own recipes!)

I appreciate this because my daughter (almost 4) loves muffins and I've been wondering how to substitute this (and cookies which I've found some recipes on the board that I've yet to try) and other things that she currently likes but are sad. A couple of days ago I tried almonds and dates with her and she said she only liked the almonds. Then yesterday she ate a couple of dates and decided she liked them. :) Today I'm going to try her with celery and almond butter and see if she likes it. She really loves SAD peanut butter as most kids do.

I have just gotten to the point of brainstorming new recipe ideas in the past couple of months. I've only been raw since March. Usually, I'm eating a single ingredient and thinking what else it's good with and how I can add other ingredients to make a "prepared food". I'd chop the nuts before putting them in the blend if your daughter is only 4.

Try this for your daughter.

Mix raw tahini and raw clover honey to taste. Add a little sea salt and mix in raisins. Sliced an apple and smooth the mixture on the slices. This is an awesome combo that I eat for lunch pretty regularly. It is very filling and my SAD coworkers LOVED it!

I have previously made up another "muffin" recipe using soaked sunflower seeds, soaked walnuts, chopped apples, cinnamon, honey, and wheat sprouts. All blended in the food processor and dehydrated. I made them in cookie shapes then. But I'm sure they would work in the paper cups too. They were great!

If you have some of Alissa's raw oat flakes they would go real well in the muffins. I make some with apples, raisins, and cinnamon mixed with the oat flakes. They are thick and the closest texture to bread we've found in raw food so far.

Banana Nut Oat Muffins .... hmmm .... will have to make some.

Doe, good idea with the oat flakes. If you make them please let us know how they turn out! :)
