I know that tap and bottled water isn't adequate for drinking because of the chlorine and whatnot, but I don't have a water filtering system and can't afford one right now.

I looked at the details of water purification by the East Midlands Strategic Network, and the water that I get through the tap apparently has fluoride, chlorine, iron, etc etc. They're levels low enough to meet the strict UK and European standards but still there. Is it very important?

Just wondering if boiling all my drinking water beforehand would be sufficient to purify it? As that's the only method I have for the time being, I hope so..?

I wouldnt think that boiling your water is a good idea. It would kill any microbes but it seems to me that you will just be concentrating the chemicals in the water. The pure water is the steam that is escaping.

I have a chlorine filter on my house but I just use a Britta filter at the tap. This is what I can afford. I understand that it will pull out most impurities but not flouride.

I would suggest avoiding chlorine if at all possible.

I switched to bottled distilled water about a year ago. There is a lot of back and forth as to whether or not distilled water is good for you or bad for you. I haven't had any problems yet. I prefer the taste of distilled, it's cleaner tasting and kind of dry, if that makes sense. If distilled water doesn't quench my thirst for whatever reason, I'll get a big bottle of Fiji water at the gas station and mix it in with the distilled just so I get 'variety'.

IMHO, I think it's better to drink clean water and supplement those missing minerals by eating right than to drink the synthetic minerals added to the water supply. No thanks to the fluoride, chlorine, etc., too.
