Hello everyone!

My name is Cristian. I'm 23 years and currently live in Reno, NV.
I have been overweight for most of my life, and I’m tired of it. My weight has stop me from living many things, and enjoying life to the fullest. For a few years I volunteered myself into anorexia, and even thou I lost much of my weight, I felt very unhealthy and overall very UNHAPPY. It was hell, so I can say I’ve been to hell and back. Being overweight has caused me a lot of emotional and mental issues. This past year I really hit my rock hard bottom, and shattered into a million pieces. Slowly I’ve been picking myself up, and I’m trying to glue myself into a whole. I now want to become a healthy person and want to join the raw food lifestyle. I don’t know much about it, but everyday I try to research as much information as I can. This is why I’m joining this forum, so that hopefully I can find here some more experience people that can answer any questions I might have, and offer me their guidance. Right now I’m only 50% raw I would say, since I’ll have fruit shakes for breakfast and dinner. At lunch time I normally just have a regular meal. I’m planning to go completely raw this coming November 29, 2010.

I really hope to find the support and guidance that I’m seeking, as I don’t really know anyone else around me that is vegan or a raw foodist.

Thanks guys,

CR!S

P.S. I hope I didn’t bore you guys with all my drama, and hope not to be judge.

Welcome to the forum friend! While I have not had to struggle with weight, other than wishing I could put a few pounds on at times, I have and do struggle with my food choices. Also, I certainly recognize and appreciate the strength and courage it took for you to give us your background.

There are many here who have accomplished exactly what you hope to. YOU CAN DO IT, and you're off to a great start. I think you've joined the perfect place here, for the support and information that will make your future much more enjoyable and much healthier.

If I can speak for the group as a whole, we'll all be pulling for you.

Hi Cris. RFT is a great place to be. You will find support, compassion and love here. And no raw food police!!!!

I would suggest that you get your raw food plan together and keep raw choices around you so that you will set yourself up for success. Know what you are going to do for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Alissa suggests taking food with you when you leave the house so that you are always prepared. Soon you will get in your groove and raw food lifestyle will be second nature.

Next time you go to your local health food store, ask them if there is a raw meet-up group in Reno or any raw foodies in the area. You may not be as alone as you think . I have bumped into a couple raw foodies in the local store.

Eating raw is one of the best gifts one can give themselves IMO. I wish you much success!

Bonjour!

There is no time like the present! Good for you. Take charge because no one can change your life but you! You'll find support here. Every now and then you'll find someone "trying" to be a raw policeperson, ;) but for the most part everyone is supportive and helpful.

I see you are drinking fruit shakes. Take it a step further and add some spinach or romaine lettuce with them in a blender to make a green smoothie.

The more greens you eat, the better!

Happy Thanksgiving!

You're getting a big jump on all the people who start dieting after New Year's! Welcome aboard! If you can maintain your diet at 50% for years, with most the rest being fairly healthy of course, you'll still see your health improve. I did 50% for years myself.
