For those interested in Hippocrates Health Institute, just be aware that they don't offer a juice fast program. They do give some basic juice 3x a day, but if you were looking to do any type of extensive fast, they don't offer it. This is quite surprising considering that they're suppose to be a healing center. Turns out they don't believe in juice fasts. When I inquired: "We are able to blend the food or steam vegetables and puree them. You can go thru the Raw Vegan Organic Buffet, take what you want, hand the plate to the kitchen and they will blend it for you into a liquid (because being around solid food & watching others eat it is helpful when fasting. ). We don't recommend juice fasts for extended periods of time, we feel they are too harsh on the body." I personally wasn't impressed with the place when I visited a few yrs back, though I know it has helped others.

Tree of Life Center seems to be the best place for a juice fast.

I think, our bodies are meant to handle some stress and periods of more and less food, but who knows - that is true, that animals in captivity tend to live longer despite the boring live they lead....To me personally water fast is too harsh, juice fasting is pretty gentle.

A bunch of my friends went a few years (as in 14 or so) back ~ not impressed at all! They used it as a place to stay then went out and found a restaurant which, at the time, was teaching raw food. They came home with two cars loaded with VM's, dehydrators, recipes, etc. and that's where my raw food journey began.

They help so many because so many come from a SAD background. Any change that eliminates the causes of disease is good for them. Juice fasts for most of these people could very well be too harsh for them.

hippocrates focuses more on wheatgrass juice and getting the proper nutrients into the body to assist in healing and removing disease. They do a fast day one day a week. So they arent against it, but most people are too sick to do extended fasts when they walk through the door- not to mention they are trying to set people up for success so that when they leave they can carry on with their new lifestyle at home- most people are called to fasting later in their raw food journey I believe.

They also try to steer clear of most sugar including fruit-for healing purposes. so that is most likely another reason for the lack of juice fast options.

I enjoyed Hippocrates and their house dressing is one of the best raw salad dressings I have ever had. its always requested at my house. I hope someone else has had a good experience there!!:D
