omg so I just read about blood type diet.. so weird. Was wondering if anyone has tried incorporating things from raw and blood type together.. Like for type b it says to avoid avocados and for most except type a to avoid corn.
Then it was saying that people who do best on vegan diets are type a. So just wondering if you know your blood type, are you type A, and are you doing well on all vegan diet?

i followed a blood type diet before i went raw. found it didn't assist me at all. not at all.
so i'm not really into even considering it as a raw foodist. i eat what i want (or juice) and allow my body to speak for itself. if it doesn't like something... it lets me know. ;) (like cabbages in juice.... ohhhhhh mama that was horrid)

but hey it may assist you. no harm in trying something on for size... if it doesn't fit... set it off to the side. perhaps it'll fit you later or never... either way... at least you tried.
learning from experience is the best kinda learning!

yeah I'm gonna try to follow it. Since my diet is pretty restrictive already so it won't be too hard to take out some of the things.
What blood type are you though?

Imo, if one's food program is already restrictive, why make it more so?
I've no interest in the blood type diet. Finding what makes me feel good and indulging in that as long as it does, works for me. I really don't need a book to tell me what to eat.

What a coincidence, I just heard about this today and looked into it briefly. I'm not sure what to think of it. I don't even know my blood type. I'd love to hear how it goes for you if you decide to try it though. Although, some of the foods they say are ok in the blood type diet for certain people I disagree with. But yeah, lemme know if you do :)

Take and leave from this book just believe me. It may work for you but i have known many that it didn't including me and my husband. The food that i was supposed to digest easily was dairy and it is by becoming vegan that my problem went away. They have totally none sense suggestion such i shouldn't eat whole wheat bread but the white bread  White flour and white sugar is poison to my body
I trust more my body reaction then some dictation from a book. This blood type book again has worked for certain people but not everyone. I truly feel everyone is unique and different. We have common ground but our body adapts and evolves. There were food i couldn't tolerate now i can. Honey melon was one of that food, it gave me nausea. I believe at the time this food wasn't for me but now, i seem to enjoy it.
My philosophy is keep trying a variety of raw food and learn the reaction of your body. I eat what i feel guided to and it works best for me. Plus the more you try a variety of food the more your body will be able to give you the proper craving for the food that it needs.
My advice, be very careful with this book

Average life expectancy for blood type o = 87 years. Average life expectancy for A = 62. Research it for yourself

Did you intend to say that the average life expectancy for type O is 87 years? I read this book when it first came out in the late 90s and believe I read that type Os, which I am, have a stronger immune system and longer life expectancy.
Coincidentally, I had to revert back to parts of the diet so that I can get some sleep.

what? I remember reading that pretty much every blood type has sensitivities to gluten.. so why would you be eating wheat bread.
As far as I know, the part about food lectins is very true, and been proven. I think some people have more of a reaction to them than others though. And it says that people who are type b can react the worst to modern diets, but can thrive the most if on the right diet. And I'm type b
For me.. I would love to be all raw all the time, but I don't think it would ever really work out. It's just too much money and it's inconvenient. And me being young I think I could only really do it when I finish college and actually have time and money to do it.

I read that book back in the mid 90's i wasn't raw vegan then, lol... Noway that i eat wheat now, lol....
I hear you about the money and the time. The thing i noticed with raw food is that it gives you more energy, inspire you more and motivate you. Compare to someone that always make home made cook meal, preparring raw food is far more easier. Compare to someone that use already prepared meal, yes the time to eat this way is less then raw food sometime only. I can make a nice meal in 15 min. You need to read, watch dvd's etc... you will gain skill and the knowledge.
I am type B also, lol... i do very well on 100% raw vegan but not too well when i do make exception and eat steam rice or steam vegetables or cook bean. My energy goes right down. I think that if someone find a way to be happy on 100% raw vegan diet, they should stick to this and never make exception, speaking for me, it is a lot of work to heal cook food craving if i make exception, it is far better to follow Alissa Cohen phylosophy and just go cold Turkey. It is challening at time but once you past the craving period, you will find this sense of freedowm and satisfaction.

I'm O-. I think when I read that book it said I should eat a lot of flesh. Gross. Never in my life have I had any desire to eat meat. I was the kid hiding it in my napkin to feed it to the dog under the table. To each their own.
I think the blood type diet is just another way of cashing in on the weight loss craze that's everywhere. People are getting so desperate and don't want to hear that they need to eat raw and exercise, because that involves effort, so the blood type diet is another fad diet that tells you to just avoid certain food groups..
I haven't read it but I would bet my bottom quid that the food it tells you to avoid are all high calorie....?

Here is my reasearch - before I started on a strict raw plan, I had my live blood cell analysis done. I wanted to know exactly what was going on in my body before I changed my eating habits. I am vegan with allergies. I found out that I'm blood type "O" which is considered a true vegan as our digestive systems cannot digest many things very well. Because of the results of the blood test, I did cut out a few veggies that cause inflammation in my digestive system and already notice how I feel...wonderful!
A few years ago I was diagnosed with digestive problems but the doctors just basically wanted me to take pills and that is as far as the 'exploration' of the problem went. So having my blood done was very cool and informative. I got to see my blood live under a microscope...I saw some bad things going on as well. However, the raw food plan will clean things up nicely over the next few monthgs. I have a followup session in a month to see how things are progressing. The test is well worth it. I think the books for blood type do have merit but like anything else, you should educate yourself at a starting point first before you switch things up drastically. Just my thoughts.

I thought blood type O was to folloe a carnivorous diet? I have gone to many of Dr. D'Adamo's seminars. Where did you find info that type O was meant to be vegan?

Yeah janem, I thought this too. I think the blood type diet is a load of BS, and people keep telling my my blood type (O-) is a meat eaters type. lol.
Edit: wow, just had a look at the official blood type diet website and the Type O profile says NOTHING about what type of foods they should be eating, in fact none of them do. This guy REALLY wants you to buy his book eh?
Another edit: found this site with a handy table. Yup, type O are supposed to be the meat eaters, lol. Guess me thriving on a vegetarian diet for 15 years is a fluke. hehe.

I didn't get my result from a book, mine came from the blood type analysis I had done and lots of reading from a reliable soure. I did google it after the fact and did find sites that indicated type "O" to be better vegans. I did not find anything that said that type "O" are meat eaters! gawd I would just die. My husband is also a type "O" and he too cannot digest meat.

I had an extended talk with someone who said the blood type diet had changed their health for the better. I asked what they had done to change their diet.
They had given up refined sugar, breads, meat, cheese etc. Seems to me that ANYONE giving up these types of foods is going to feel better!
