Hi

I am new to all of this. I'll be brief and won't focus on the symptoms, but one of them is acid reflux. I have stopped eating garbarge and started transitioning to raw. I have an appt with a really good MD who practices holistic medicine.

I'm just biding my time until I see her. In the meantime, any suggestions on how to deal with acid reflux and burning bowels? I was told Maalox is BAD. It makes sense why. I did down a big glass of powered glutamine just now.

Basically, I have no idea what I am doing, just trying to climb my way up out of this pit.

I was thinkinf of doing a wheatgrass colonic to wash some of the acid out, but I don't know...like I said, I have no clue what I am doing.

Gosh this is all so challenging. Thank you for any opinions of personal stories that got you through. I'm hanging in like a that kitten from a rope right now

PS, I am so grateful that there is an answer to these growing health problems. I guess I feel very sad inside that I waited so long and created such a big problem.

Working on forgiving myself, too.

If I eat processed garbage I get acid reflux. If I eat high raw I do not. Easy. That said - when I get it I dissolve 1/2 tsp of sodium bicarbonate in some warm water and drink it. It makes me burp and neutralizes the acid.

Good luck:)

Interesting. Sorta like...they suck the acid in?

Thank you for the reply. I am going to try this.

Yeah I'm about 1 week off the garbage.

Thank you for the suggestion. Going to try both yours and Aleeshas at different times.

Do apple cider vinegar, the problem is not enough acid in the gut.:)

I have heard that. I keep hearing this, reading about it. I guess what blows my mind is how something that feels like acid pulsing through my body can actually be a lack of acid? I did do the beet test and passed it. However, I may have not done it right, plus obviously 1 little beet test really can't determine overall.

Thanks for your reply

The reason the acid is coming up is there is not enough acid in the belly to digest what you eat. Try it. Apple cider vinegar is a cheap fix. Start out with a tsp. in a cup of warm water add a little honey to make it taste better.
Let me know how it goes :D

chia seeds are highly absorbent. if you have heart burn... it's the cure. is that what you are experiencing?

Well, it's like a burning in the stomach, in the intestines and sometimes in the chest. I have heard the term GERD, I have heard also leaky gut and inflammatory bowel disease. All I know is that it is starting to really suck. It all gets worse when I get stressed. I'm finally catching on that there's a huge mind-body thing as well.

Mostly its very alarming. Yes it's like heartburn but all over the place. Some days I wanna just crawl into a hole and...eat a cracker.

Thanks for your replies

Please read my reply to aleesha if you don't mind. I do have some apple cider vinegar. I can handle it straight without the honey. I've tasted worse. :) actually, eating raw is a whole new interesting uncharted palette. Most of it is good. Wheatgrass? shudder lol

give the chia a try... it won't harm you in any way so it's worth a try. ;)

Hmmm - interesting about not having enough acid causing it. I will try the ACV next time it happens and see if that helps. Of course it will not happen again because I will be eating well:p

Forgot to ask. Do I chew the seeds or just down them?

Edit, I just downed them.

BTW, I will def. report on progress in case someone else is battling this monster and reads this.

don't chew... just swallow :) with as little (to no) water/fluid as possible.

Yeah I suspected that was the way to go. Nummy seeds tho.

At this point, probably from anxiety/emotional issues my brain simply isn't shutting the acid OFF. It's like a long anxiety attack. Now no doubt there would be no weakness in my stomach if I hadn't abused it with the SAD and smoking, which I quit two years ago; I am down to 1 piece of nicorette every other day now from two boxes monthly (I know).

The chia seeds were wonderful, they did help, and so did the ACV. But it took years to get this screwed up and its going to take awhile to feel human again. I really like the natualy quick fixes a lot more than the Maalox.

I saw some ridiculously nummy looking recipes on this site. Can't wait to be able to eat them. :(

the water from young coconuts is very healing to the stomach. it is recommended that fasting on young coconut water can be very healing. i got that info from a doctor site on the internet and tried it myself. it worked for me.

not everyone enjoys fasting so if you don't want to fast... simply adding it to your daily raw diet may assist as well. i'm not sure on that but it's a yummy way to experiment!

I think I have some issues to address before I fast. A 1/3 day fast, that's no problem. I want to know what I am up against, get a checkup first for longer. In the meantime I'm eating a lot of green smoothies and raw salads with oils, and some of whole foods raw stuff is OK; pretty rich food. I like it simple. Been reading up on young coconut water. We have some asian markets here that sell them cheap. My understanding is that they all come from the same place. Anyway, 1 day at a time. The chia seeds were very nummy and it did work - then my mind kicked in. That's the big problem now.

Thanks again, Aleesha xo

so important to follow your needs and your own common sense on these things. glad to hear you are doing just that.

remember... healing takes time. it didn't 'get sick' in a moment and won't heal in one either. so be kind to yourself, focus on eating raw and allow your body to heal - taking the time it needs.

and above all else... trust in it's innate ability to do what it needs to do. when we step out of the way... our bodies can perform miracles!

I did do the wheatgrass enema. I used 1 gallon of distilled water and 2oz of wheatgrass. If you want to spend 24 hours in the bathroom I suggest this for sure. If you're new to raw and cleaning out, as I am, just be very aware that a wheatgrass enema is probably not the most gentle approach and from what I can tell...needs to be approached in smaller steps!

My stomach is burning less. Who knows if this is because my mind is focusing on the running back and forth to the bathroom. Time will tell.
