Just wanted to start a thread to see who plans to come to the raw food chef certification in less than a month -- Dec 3-5, 2010. I am coming from WI and would like to find a raw roomie and/or share a shuttle ride from Boston Airport ;)
Let me know -- would love to meet a few people here before I see you guys in a few weeks!
Blessings!

HII!!!!!
I'll be with you in spirit!!!!! I ended up with my own room, but I was able to find a ride cuz several classmates were at my hotel... So, dont panic if you have no roomie.... I'm sure you'll not be alone!!! Don't forget your camera... Oh yea, bring some slippers so you'll be comfy.... And, take lots of notes... Oh, bring a sweater too... And, if you have a small pillow, that'll be good... Other than that, you're all set!!!!!
Hugs!!!!!! I'm SO excited for you!!!! Please give Alissa and Janet a HUGE hug for me!!!!
I know you'll enjoy your time with Alissa! Stay "in the moment" and be safe!!! I can't WAIT to hear all about it! I know you'll be back to help me un-cook through Raw Food For Everyone!!!!
Blessings,
Nee

2400$ seems like a lot of money for 3 days doesnt' it?
I am not sure why the course is condensed so much, I much rather perfer to have some time to experiment with recipes.
How can you condense 1 , 2 and 3 levels plus a Weekend course. What can you learn in 3 days, I already have alot of theoretical knowledge.
Anyway, I am sure Alissa has a lot to offer, but why they are choosing to condense the entire course down to 3 days I am not really sure. And I am doubting that it would be beneficial, especially when it is so rushed.
If anyone else has taken this condensed course if you can tell me you honest opinion of what you thought of it. I would be really interested in hearing from you.

Coolcatch,
Maybe the class is not for you... And, that's too bad. I went to Alissa's 4 day class and I really enjoyed it. She no longer has the Grezzo restaurant, so that was the 4th day back then.
I got SOOOOOO much out of my class with Alissa. In less than a year I have been on TV several times doing un-cooking Classes, I am a RAW Personal Chef and have uncooked for a famous person this summer, my Alissa Cohen Classes have been VERY successful, I have even been able to get my family to eat RAW with me...and, I'm SO not done!!!! I credit ALL of this success to my Class with Alissa. Honestly. She taught me how to dream BIG and gave me the tools and confidence I needed to run a successful RAW business.
I definitely feel that it was money well spent for me. But, I didn't focus on that. I am making the most out of the opportunity I had and puttiing to practice the things that I learned, but that's ME... If you feel you don't need her class, it's ok....really. I"m sure Alissa appreciates those who WANT to be there and believe me, her classes are always full with a waiting list of people who also feel it's money well spent.
....just wanted to tell you my opinion from the standpoint of someone who did take Alissa's class...

I just wanted to add, originally the Grezzo day was not there...AND there was no 2nd book... I don't think this Class is "condensed". (though it's true I haven't taken this particular class....). She probably just did some re-arranging is all. But send Jessica an email and I'm sure she'll tell you for sure....

I would love to go! If I went, I would have to have my own room though! :)
Maybe some time in the near future.
Have a great experience and I can't wait to see your future posts with all the meals you're going to prepare, you, Renee and I think GlimR really show your culinary skills on this community!

I am grateful to you ReneeH for your posts! They really cheer me up and encourage me to keep pressing forward. This is a big step for me in more than one dimension in my life and I am determined to silence the naysayers, both in my head and elsewhere.
I hope not to be offensive to anyone, but this thread was for people that have registered to attend.
I have already read all the threads and posts about how expensive it is, the number of days covered and how it seems like so little time, etc. I have been on this board off and on since 2007 and have wanted to be certified since then. I was not even 100% and I received so many benefits - feel free to peruse my blog, although I have not updated in a while. I was very high raw until my 6 month of pregnancy, when my hunger really started to increase and I could not adequately keep up my calories. I green smoothied my way thru the 40 wks, had baby completely naturally on my terms -- w/ a doula, home, no tears, no meds. I now have a gorgeous toddler whose development is well ahead of schedule, lost all but 5lbs of pregnancy weight, stretch marks disappearing, and more benefits continue to surface.
I am getting this certification because I am tired of every other friend who confides in me admits being pre-diabetic, diabetic, hypertensive, obese, morbidly obese, emotionally addicted to eating/not eating, hating vegetable, hating fruits, having asthma, allergies, etc.
I am sick of all my friends being too sick to do fun things with me and my family. Having to watch one friend bring out a STORAGE BIN of medications and count them out like an abacus.
I am not getting certified just for me. I am getting certified to be a better health advocate for the patients that doctors, nutritionists, specialists and other professionals have either given up on, ignored, misinformed, or otherwise. I know many are just working with the information they have, and we seem to become more and more compartmentalized in almost everything being done nowadays..
It would be nice if it were cheaper, more days, more time with Alissa, more recipes, more activities, if it included a voucher for a tropical timeshare to really savor the "ideal raw lifestyle", etc. I have looked at many others, and to be honest, this was the most convenient for me. I have a busy hubby who travels, a toddler who is very picky about food right now, and frankly, I have uncooked my way through most of Alissa's first book, and loved it. I made a raw dinner for my pastor and his wife, and they were amazed.
I have plans to change my community for the healthier and this is what I need to do. It took 3 years to get this point, and I know that I tend to talk myself out of things that really are good for me. In my mom's native language, my middle name means "God's timing is the best".
So I have to at least live in the legacy of that and fearlessly step out on faith.
Now if Ani Phyo had a certification class, I may have to jump on that, lol.
I thank those who have questioned this course because it reminds me of where my heart and mind is about this.
I have a friend with diabetes who said that if I can help her lose the weight and eat healthier and exercise, it would be worth every penny. How valuable is it to:
- be able to wear a dress and cross your legs for the first time, ever?
- shop in the women's section of a store?
- play with your grandchildren without taking oxygen (from a tank)?
- fit in the seat of a car?
- drive yourself?
- pay for ONE seat on a plane?
- stop having to take 19 medications over a 24hr period? forever?
even though I have never had to really think about these situations, Its worth more than 2400 to me and others.
Out-of-pocket,
How much does gastric bypass cost?
open heart surgery?
stent/ valve replacement?
assisted living due to weight concerns?
renovations to your home to make it more " accessible"?
liposuction, tummy tucks, lifts, reductions?
my dad died from long-standing hypertension and the last time I visited him at the nursing home, I said "I love you" in his native language, softly in his ear. He could not talk, eat, or move on his own, but he knew love. That was the last time I saw him alive and 9 years later, it still hurts.
Hurt can drive you to do crazy things.
Hurt can also drive you to take better care of yourself and others.
Please forgive me for the long rant, but I want people to understand that I have weighed all my options and made a decision.
Just wanted to see if anyone else had done something similar or at least plans to take Alissa's class for more knowledge about raw foods in a few weeks.
I have a lot of things already in the works and I feel that this is the missing link in the system.
If I am the only one at Alissa's class, that would be a gift from God above! I doubt it, but I will keep hope alive, lol!
With a hug and a smile,
Okorolina

Thanks January Noir! I do hope to make some cool raw friends and take even more foodie pics! Its an obsession at times! Let me know when you decide to take it ! I'll be here ;) Now that I think about it, maybe I will venture to get my own room? Was looking to minimize expenses, though, but I may do a video diary of my time there, so perhaps having my own room is good..
Blessings!
