Have you guys seen this? For some reason we watched it in my Torts class. I like the direction it is going and happy for the effort. Really funny though.

oh.. seemed kind of over the top to me. It's not really my type of humor. But I really liked the message though.

I think it was making fun of the way the junk food industry markets their products. Those commercials ARE over the top. In some places you can get carrots from vending machines and some kids say they think they actually taste better. Why? Marketing and because of the fact that they are in a vending machine makes them seem 'junk foodish'. Like, your mamma didn't pack THESE carrots. A little twisted. An interesting psychology lesson if nothing else.

Marketing alone doesn't make food sell, really, or make people want junk food over carrots. Little known fact why junk food sells and makes people want them over carrots, is that companies use addictive chemicals on their foods to make people crave their products. For instance, MSG will make anything taste 4 times better than just consuming that food plain. It sends signals to be the brain that your food isn't just great but it is AWESOME TO THE MAX.

The commercials are only there to remind you that that product is AWESOME TO THE MAX.

The only way to get people to eat carrots from the vending machine is if a company put some MSG on them things to make people think that carrots are AWESOME TO THE MAX.

You can just look up some videos on Youtube on just MSG alone, and how it sparks up the brain to trick it to thinking that many non-nutritional foods on the market taste far better than healthy food. That is why you always hear people say that they rather be fat and unhealthy than ever going on a diet, because they can't imagine life without all those tasty junk foods. That is why many people will look at you crazy for wanting to eat raw, or even cooked whole foods, because there is no addictive food flavorings in healthy foods to get you hyped up of wanting a bag of Cheetos over a nice big bowl of salad.

And somehow the American government has a problem with people using addictive drugs where you can't grow a marijuana plant, yet they allow the FDA to make food companies to use addictive food flavoring drugs on processed foods. However, there are tons of videos on Youtube, again about how the FDA don't care about people's health at all, because the FDA only approve of food products and drugs that a company pays the FDA not to talk badly about. Excuse my language but the FDA is full of sh*t and are controlled by lobbyists to keep the public from knowing that many foods and drugs out on the market are dangerous for people's health.

That is why when you start to eat healthy, nothing tastes good, because healthy foods do not have food chemicals to trick your taste buds and your brain that something is delicious and you need more of it.

I agree and I thought about the addictive qualities when I watched the video. I do think that advertising is powerful though. Even with silly commercials there are subtle cues to make us want something. Junk food industry has the benefit (?) of hooking people with advertisement and KEEPING them hooked with addiction (mainly MSG!).

Well I showed this to my 9 yo son and he adored it!

Quoted directly 'well I have to say, this makes me want to get some baby carrots!'

Now we both have the BABY! CARROTS! theme song stuck in our heads!
