View Full Version : Do you really feel that much better raw vs like 80%

I'm just wondering if eating like cooked veggies and mostly other raw makes that big of a difference? Or just slightly steamed?

I notice that if I eat somethings raw... I develop a kind of sore throat. Like kale, I don't know why but it always happens.

Like if I just steamed some foods would it be bad?

Renerdrat, this is a raw forum. We don't promote eating cooked foods. I understand you've had some issues with eating foods in it's natural form - as you've posted on this issue - so only you can decide what is or is not right for you.

I know that my body is way healthier and way happier (so are my emotions) when I'm 100% raw. It makes a huge difference for me.

My suggestion... try doing the 30 day challenge and eat 100% raw for that long. Then try something cooked and you'll see the different. SAD food makes you sad! It's not a joke... it's real.

And yes... steaming veggies kills the enzymes and destroys much of your nutritional value... so in our opinion (as we are here to eat raw food)... it is bad. If you go to a forum where it's the people are SAD vegans... they would say "go for it!"

Perhaps this just isn't the right place for you???

the mission statement says:
You do not have to be 100% raw or even 50% raw
so I think it suits me lol..

And okay. I guess I should try 30 day challenge or whatever.

Yes but as I responded (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showpost.php?p=633674&postcount=8) on another thread you started tonight... you can be whatever percentage you wish... but you need to follow Alissa's philosophy. :)

9. No posts that advocate eating cooked food. Now, we're not talking those questionable things like Nama Shoyu, cashews, nutritional yeast and such but rather outright cooked food entrees and dishes such as fast food, steamed vegetables or cooked rice or candy bars

Everybody's answer to this question is different, and sometimes it changes over the course of a life, in different seasons, and according to external factors (such as overseas travel, for example---no use eating raw foods if they're not sanitary and could cause illness as is the case in certain places where there is poor sanitation.)

This is a forum for discussing raw eating, so it's going to mostly attract and retain people who are thrilled with this way of eating. If you're looking for a balanced perspective you may want to consult multiple sources. Generally that's a good idea anyway!

I personally do not eat a 100% raw diet all of the time, but there is nothing SAD about how I eat. Cooked does not always equal SAD, IMHO. This works for me, but I do not wish to be disrespectful to the forum in any way by elaborating on the steamed veggies, quinoa, and occasional Indian food that I eat (and have no problems with.) We Like It Raw is another popular message board with a very very diverse following, including non-vegans and people who include cooked foods. Perhaps you should ask these "non raw" questions over there?

Better yet, experiment for yourself and find your own personal truth.

Just a little example from 100% raw and making exception with steam vegetable occasionally.

100% raw: no need an antiperspirant, because i had no odor
Making exception with steam vegetable/rice: yes need something

As per Alissa Cohen and so many more testimony, yes this is day and night to be 100% raw in term of health versus even 99% raw.

Now, if you cannot lead your mind to do 100% raw, focus ALWAYS on your accomplishment and not what your mind may feel aren't perfect. In time you will get there. Be grateful that you are making room for the good stuff for your body.

If you feel ready in your heart, take the plunge and try to be raw 100%. I recommend that you read 12 step to raw food.

I agree on the deodorant thing.
Also I do not sleep well if I have eaten something cooked and I wake up with pains in my hips. I know that I have other problems as well (heartburn for one) but can not think of them all right now.

OH, my god, since I am high raw, I have noticed that I haven't used my salt rock deodorant in about 4 months now and I have no stinky smell. I was feeling ashamed that I was keeping up my hygiene by not using deodorant, but I started to think....if I don't stink, no need to put it on.

ok thanks a lot everyone who has answered, it makes me feel better about not going 100% raw.. especially some veggies I just love eating steamed, and really don't like them raw.
Plus they are easy on digestion

Important is to do your best. So far, during the summer I am 100% raw and during the winter 80%, when I also eat steamed vegetable and legumes. I can't say I feel a huge difference.

I was 80 percent raw for a long time. It is a great way to eat.
Once I went 100 percent I noted so many benefits!
When and if you are ready you will do it. A 30 day challange is what I did and I just kept going!

Same here -- 100% made an amazing difference in my energy and stamina, plus the healing time for sports injuries became noticeably shorter!
