I've never really been a hostess for anything so I'm here to gain insight about raw-lucks.
I would like to be able to start one in my area and do have a lovely clubhouse here in my apartment complex to use.
How to get started, keep the party going, and so on. I really have no clue how to do this and I do have someone who wants to help me out once I get started. My friend is pushing me to do this and I know she's right. She thinks I'll make alot of new friends this way and possibly meet someone to date. And it would be nice to have friends in the area who share the same interest as me when comes to health, raw food, and all.
I really do need help on how to organize raw-lucks!!
This is something that I would like to try and see how it goes.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
I only have a few minutes but wanted to share some ideas ~ I've been hosting raw-lucks for awhile ~ and it's such a great thing to be able to do!
You can pick a theme (which is fun ~ like Mexican food, i.e. guac, salsa, burrito wraps) or just make it a potluck of any kind.
You can go to meetup.com to set something up that will be an RSVP system of sorts and also enable others to find you ~ it costs about $12 per month if you pay for several months at a time I believe.
Or you can just have people call or email you.
Do you have a website? It's pretty easy to add a page with info and a signup link in that way.
Most local gyms/health clubs/spas/coffee shops/health food stores will let you put a flyer up if there is space for something like that. Especially because it would be not for profit.
What else? I don't know, that's off the top of my head. Feel free to email me if you think it would be a help. :)
We have a very small group that meets monthly for a raw-luck too. At first I gave demos every month, but now I've run out of things to show/teach, so we're doing just a pot luck.
We started a Face Book page. We've got almost 60 members on that -- I wish they'd all come to the potlucks!! We have usually 5-8 people.
Our local news station actually saw my advertisement on Craig's List for our meeting and contacted me. He came out to our home and filmed me demo-ing some food items and that was a big help to get the word out - our FB membership really jumped after that.
I got some business cards made up and I just start talking with people and give them a card with our FB info on. They were very inexpensive, I want to say under $10 for 500 cards. I give them to members to pass out too.
If I think of more ideas, I'll post back! We'd sure like to increase the size of our meetings too.
Oh - and this week I'll be putting up the display at the library - things like that really help get the word out. *Ü*

Wow, great tips! Thanks!! :)
Eva ~ I can totally see you doing alot of raw-lucks!! You have such an energetic vibe going on!! I bet your raw-lucks are fun.
I don't have a website, meet-ups site is good, and theme sounds a lot of fun. Flyers are cool that I can do and pass around. And hmm yeah, people can call me or e-mail me. Thanks, I will send an e-mail later on.
DebB ~ The business card is a good idea! Never thought about craiglist or facebook, will take that into consideration! Cool, that's how the you got on t.v. and getting the word out!! I saw the video awhile back! You and your husband did an awesome job! The demo in the beginning is a great idea!
Renee ~ You can stop by anytime!! ;)
Do any entertaining like in the begiining, middle, and at the end of raw-lucks?
Yeah DebB ~ I love the biz card idea too! :)
You are sweet Whoa-Raw! And yeah... well... it's true... I do bring some excitement to these things. :)
Two good resources that might be good for you:
e-junkie.com ~ it's a shopping cart system of sorts ~ costs $5 per month and keeps a database of your signups and sends an email confirmation with the address. would work if you wanted to charge a nominal feel like $5 per person. or just to keep track of everyone.
eventbrite.com ~ for promoting/scheduling webpage
