Hello Everyone!:D

My name is Delise and this is my first thread/forum EVER. Thank you for creating this space and being a part of such a great movement. I'm so excited to be here and to learn from you and about your raw lifestyles.

I was exposed to GMO's, MSG, Processed foods and inhumane treatment of animals in factory farms about 1.5yrs ago by my boyfriend. With that came more information about the FDA, the Pharmaceutical companies, the media, etc. So, we made the change and cut out TV and began researching ways to a healthy lifestyle. All the information we discovered helped us become conscious of what we were putting in our bodies. We made the change and switched to a completely organic diet. The benefits were definitely felt right away! We came across the Gerson diet and discovered the wonderful benefits of this raw lifestyle. I knew that I wanted to go 100% raw after seeing the wonderful benefits of it but I wanted to do it correctly.

First, we started off by cutting out all meat, then going vegetarian (didn't do it correctly :(), then 80% raw to 100% raw. I have been raw for about 3.5 weeks now. The first week was wonderful and packed with energy and just overall FANTASTIC. Days 8-11 seemed to be the detox period which I was aware of. Last week I replaced one salad meal with nuts/berries for calories and the healthy fat. I discovered that I don't feel so wonderful and great after a meal of nuts/berries. Does anyone else feel this way? I know that since the nuts are higher and calories it may take your body more energy to digest. I'm thinking of replacing my nut/berry meal back to a salad with an avocado for the fat intake.

My boyfriend may be going back to an 80% raw diet. I have decided to stay Raw vegan and continue my journey since I feel wonderful. I'm taking this as an experimental period while trying to figure out what my body needs/likes and when I feel my best. We'll see how it goes. :) I'm sure that once I get the equipment (juicer, dehydrator & heavy duty blender) things will get even better.

Any suggestions on brand names/models of juicers, dehydrators & heavy duty blender? I have heard wonders about Vitamix Blenders. Can’t wait to start cooking!

Thank you so much for your time! It is so wonderful to know that so many of you have embarked in this amazing lifestyle. Many blessings for you all!

May joy and peace be yours...

Welcome to the site. you should soak your seeds and nuts the soaking breaks down inhibitors and will allow you body to get the benifits of the food. I have a champion juicer and like it ok, every one has their favorite. I also have a vita mix very happy with it, but they are pricey. lots of friends here. hang in there.
