View Full Version : Help-green smoothies fast gone bad

I had been only drinking green smoothies for 1 week.( also ate a little fruit later) The first couple of days I experienced detox which I am used too. Irritability continued.I was initially mentally confused during the first few days.
Well, irritability got WORSE although elements of detoxed ceased.
Final straw was the night I could not get to sleep so I took a tablespoon of black strap molasses. Fell asleep immediately.
Question: Maybe I need more sugar? I have no blood sugar problems that I know of.
I would LOVE for this raw food eating to work for me. Please help.

Before you give up on raw food eating, why not try.....eating!
Green smoothies are great, but I would never do well on a green smoothie mono diet. Why not have your GS for breakfast and then have some yummy raw meals for lunch and dinner?

I agree with MelanieBear. You need to eat! :) That's probably why you're so irritable! LOL!
Seriously, prepare a huge bowl of leafy greens with tons of raw vegetables (including some avocado, onions, peppers, etc.) and chow down! Eat 2 big bowls a day. You must fill up!
Eat some fatty nuts like Brazils or Cashews. Make or buy some Kale chips!
I eat tons of food a day and I'm not packing on any pounds; still losing, albeit about a .5 lb per week.

There is no harm in getting all of your food from green smoothies as long as you are getting enough calories. You may not have een getting enough. Put plenty of bananas in there and up the calories.

grumpy and fasting can go together like peas and carrots. it's just a part of fasting (and yes a green smoothie feast is still a fast).
i find that letting the people around me know i'm fasting and/or grumpy... then they are more understanding of my mood(s) and i'm more apt to see that i'm grumpy and curb my mood.

and how many are you drinking a day? one litre, two... six?
remember... you can have as many as you desire... no need to limit yourself and yes... up your bananas!!!

True, I wasn't eating enough. I will continue raw with green smoothies and food.
I have no physical health problems ( thank God) but am prone to suffer from irritability, lack of tolerance and nervousness. As soon as I change my diet for the better it seems to worsen.I was hoping that raw food would give me peace...at this stage I always half joke that I would eat a diet of tree bark if it would calm my nervousness and make me less irritated by soft sounds.
