I just like seeing what people bought when they go grocery shopping. It is interesting, like peeking in to someone's bathroom cabinet.

I went to Trader Joe's for the first time in over a year, since it is some distance from my home. Therefore, I stocked up on a lot of frozen fruits and veggies last me a month. This is what I bought:

Fresh...
Maripoix mix in container of onions, celery and carrots.
Shitake mushrooms
mixed chopped veggies of celery, red and green cabbage, carrots, onions, broccoli and cauliflower...sort of an Asian stir-fry mix.
Quinoa

(I plan to use the fresh stuff to make a big quinoa veggie salad)

Frozen...
1 bag of pomegranate seeds
2 bags of organic wild blueberries
2 bags of asparagus
3 bags of red, yellow, green and orange bell peppers
2 bags of artichokes
and I can't remember if I bought a bag of frozen peas.

The frozen is for future quinoa veggie salads. Except for the fruit, which I got for smoothies.

Last night:
3 pomegranates (along with a free sheet on how to open them!)
4 avocados
tomatoes
1 onion
cucumbers
lettuce
red chard
bananas!
frozen strawberries
frozen peaches
red/yellow/orange bell peppers
spinach
lemons
limes
two bags of fuji apples - my favorite, AND they were on sale!
the little bitty baby orange-type things - I can't remember if mine were clementines or lil' cuties or which ones exactly, but they're yummy. :)

I think that was it, I can't think of anything else.

Edit: I was at mom and dad's house (in another town) last weekend, and my dad knows that I go through a lot of bananas. He had been at the food bank dropping off some stuff and he'd baked cookies for the staff as well (he often does that). Anyway, they had a ton of really ripe bananas that they were trying to get rid of, and they asked him if he wanted any. He had called me to see if I wanted 40 pounds of ripe bananas, and I pretty much started screaming and jumping up and down in ecstasy. So needless to say, he took their 40 pounds of ripe bananas, and Saturday he and I peeled and bagged them all and froze them, so yay...I have a TON of nice lovely ripe frozen bananas just waiting to become ice cream and smoothies. :D

I have a hard time grocery shopping. My freezer is packed with lots of fruits and veggies, but still I can't resist seeing food on sale at the grocery store. I hate to fight myself for spending money for the sake of it knowing I have enough food to last me for a month all in the freezer.

But I picked up a few things to make me a new batch of quinoa salad to last me 5 to 7 days.

4 plum tomatos,.
2 yellow zucchinis
1 bag of green onions
one stalk of celery
2 bags of cranberries.

2 bunches bananas

That's it for food bc we already have some, and tomorrow is my next farm share pickup!

Some people may find it annoying to make several more stops at the market as compared to SAD eaters, but I really enjoy it. It's my favorite part of the week, and it's really relaxing for me. Like it's a hobby I'd like doing even if it wasn't a necessity.

I love Whole Foods, because it is a very pretty store with lots of interesting stuff, but it is too expensive. Just a small bag of groceries that won't even last a week will cost up to $100.

It makes me want to pray that I marry a rich man so I can shop at Whole Foods all the time! Because I love their fresh produce section so much!

If I wasn't on a budget, I would love to grocery shop more, too!

I treated myself to a trip to Whole Foods yesterday. And I mean treat. I bought three young coconuts, a bottle of coconut aminos, some buckwheat groats, and (from the raw/vegan food bar) some raw falafel and some raw pad thai (which was immediately consumed for lunch). Otherwise, what I can afford is Costco or my local grocery store - in season and as close to a dollar a pound as I can get. (c: Can we say coupons and the weekly advertisement sheet? Sadly, it's a rare thing to find coupons for produce.
