View Full Version : Best time to take a probiotic?

I've read places that before a meal is best.. then places that after a meal is best, and some say during.... Which one??

I want to get the most out of it and am confused.

Anytime on an empty stomach. If it must be somewhat close to meals, at least 2 hrs before or after.

There should be directions for that particular one you're using too. Occasionally there may be slight variations.

The ones I had didn't have any directions. So it's not good to take it with the meal? Like sprinkled on it?

The probiotic I'm using says to take on an empty stomach, morning and evening.

Mine says take 2 caps a day on an empty stomach. I take it first thing in the morning about 30 mins to 1 hour before I drink my smoothie.

There is some that say you can take with food, but generally it's taken on an empty stomach. Which brand is it?

Stina, I've been using probiotics for years and credit them for strengthening my immune system, even before raw. I also like how the ones made with Saccharomyces Boulardii or Cerevisiae contain Vitamin B12 & other hard-to-get nutrients. It's definitely one of the top supplements I'd recommend for every single person.

ok I'll be taking it not with my meal.. uh the one I got is dr michael murray 12/12 probiotic.

And yes it's totally helped! I actually thought it was gonna have bad effects like most things I try (vitamins, enzymes) but instead of the usual forgetfulness I feel constantly I now don't have that at all. Plus it helped a lot with constipation. But the things is is that I started to get constipated again..

I think it's because I started taking it with my meal. When I first got it I was taking it before eating, but then I read somewhere that you could sprinkle it on food so I thought why not... But I think I'll go back to the way I was taking it.
