Hi everyone,
I use to blanch my almonds in hot nearly boiling water to get the skin off.
Please tell me how you all do it. Trying to get the skin off now is really difficult and time consuming.
Thank for the advice.

I leave the skin on also. Is there a reason you want to remove it?

I think that the skin over works our digestive system without giving us any benifit. I peel mine while sitting watching a TV show. It is slow but you may as well do something while watching the box.

I make almond milk a half gallon at a time which uses 3 cups of soaked almonds, which ends up being 4 cups of almonds after they are hydrated. To peel the skins off wouldn't even be an option. That would be a time consuming task, no doubt. Just blend them until smooth and then strain thru cheese cloth.

I usually just leave the skins on, and blend them all up, or food processor them or whatever, I have tried peeling them with my finger nail, just to see if it makes much difference, it didn't to me and my hubby.

We love food prep, so it would be no big deal to us to peel them, but I think the roughage is good for the colon, so since there was no descernable difference in taste, we just leave the skins on.

We have a Vita Mix, so they get pretty pulverized, if you are using a different kind of blender, it might make a bigger difference.

After being soaked overnight the skins on mine just slip off. But I use them with the skins on anywho.

A friend of mine recently returned from the Ann Wigmore center in Puerto Rico. He said that they sit around peeling almonds, because the skins on, are some sort of enzyme inhibitor.

I've only made almond milk once, earlier this week. I soaked the almonds for several hours, then just sat watching tv while peeling them. It wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't want to do it every night!

Almond skin is high in tannin and not good for your digestive system
