Hello everyone,

I am going to be buy the vitamix 5200 and say bye to my breville juicer and was wondering if anyone has had any good luck with the refurbished one. A few months back i did see a demo at whole foods and they were offering it for $399 but i don't see anymore demos coming anytime soon to dallas, texas from the vita-mix website. I see on there website they offer the refurb for $379.

Anyone have any luck with the Blendtec?

thanks

I'm a traveling, teaching raw food chef... and it's the ONLY piece of equipment I've chosen to consistently recommend... but it is NOT perfect.

If you want to make soups and smoothies, cheeses and ice creams, even juices and other goodies... it's GREAT.

If you want to do that, repeatedly, like in a commercial kitchen, it's OK but you'd really need the commercial model if you don't want to have to stick it in the freezer to cool it down after a FEW tough recipes.

The Blendtec is pretty similar ~ I've used it several times ~ I MUCH prefer the VitaMix. But you'll also find others who MUCH prefer the Blendtec.

Hope that helps!

I've had the refurbished one (Vita-Mix) for several years, use it every day (usually more than once), and haven't had a bit of trouble with it.

Didn't even think to mention mine (the one I travel and teach with) was a refurb model too... same 7-year warranty and whathaveyou...

ok thanks. I am going to order the vitamix refurb. I just wish i would of got it when they had it on demo at whole foods a few months back as it was $399 for a brand new and not refurb unit. Going to mainly use it for green smoothies daily.

That's an exceptional price ~ but it least it's really the same ~ when you get it ~ you'd never know it was refurb ~ looks and feels like new. :)

I purchased the 5200 refurbished vita mix a year ago. I have used it a couple times a day or more since. It looked brand new when it arrived, and it still looks great. Works beautifully.
I also have a Breville juicer that I use about 3 or 4 times a week, mainly for carrot and apple juice. I also juice celery. I don't like celery in my smoothies so I juice it.

well my order shipped yesterday ups and so excited to get it. Do you think alissa's new book would help me out with recipes to use with the vitamix and breville. I know she has a juicing section in it. Hoping someone can help me that already has the book. I just registered for my turkey trot 8 mile run in dallas, texas again this year and also excited for that. :)

Well received my vita-mix last night and it looked brand new! I had my first green smoothie this morning and it gave me a 20oz glass full. Very happy with how it works and so easy to clean compared to my breville juicer. I think its more quiet too.

2 kale leaves without stem
2 cups spinach
1 cup water
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 bananas

:)

thanks. Just made another vitamix drink before i go run 6 miles.

3 medium carrots halved
1 cup water
1 cup ice cubes
2 tsp fresh lemon juice

This should give me some good energy. I have my 8 mile race in a few weeks!

I will order the VitaMix restored. I just wish they had when they were on display at Whole Foods a few months ago, and it was $ 399 for a brand new, not reconditioned unit. To be used mainly for green smoothies a day.

Hello,

I have a concern with my new vitamix 5200 as the plastic container shows a 7 other and called customer support and they said that's the only number they can put on it and does not leach bpa. Well 7 other is like the worst plastic to get and i have been buying all #1 PETE. Does anyone know if this is a safe plastic container.

thanks

I bought a refubished Vitamix 5200 earlier this year and I love it. I use it almost daily and I haven't had any problems with it.

I don't know. I'll have to check. Why do you ask?

just curios as #7 other on any plastic means that it leaches chemicals. I called vitamix and they said its been tested and doesn't leach PBA.

Ok I checked and I didn't see a #7. If it's there where would it be?

There are a lot of press releases about the Vitamix 5200 container being safe.

However, I don't know about the earlier models.

I looked the container up, down, and side ways, and with a magnifying glass and I did not see a #7 on the container.

In order to see the #7 in my container, I have to look straight down to the bottom from the inside, and it is backwards inside the triangle symbol off to the side of center. I can't see it when looking at the actual bottom from the outside.
