But a Champion Juicer is a centrifugal juiicer! It still doesn't do greens/wheatgrass well, but does a great job on cukes, apples, carrots etc. wouldn't you want one that also does greens?

Just curious...not to be a negative naysayer!! LOL

Huh, maybe I don't know what centrifugal is... I have read in a few places here that Champion Juicers do juice greens if you cut them up, which I am willing to do.

Regardless, it's going to do a much better job juicing than the old $20 thing I have and it's a GREAT deal and if I want something that does greens better, I have extra money from the savings, time to save up, and I'll get an another $75 back from the sale of the Champion.....or $60 (depreciation and all ;))

A champion is not a centrifugal juicer. It's a masticating juicer and it does a great job on greens if you chop them up first. I use mine daily... and it does a great job of my greens!!!

Enjoy your new amazing friend... I know I love mine!

Aha! I thought it was a centrifugal juicer - Thought I put a question mark by that... Centrifugal juicers have spinny things with holes, masticating juicers chew..........But everywhere I've read it doesn't do greens well and def bad with wheatgrass....but like you say it's prob better than your old one.

Let us know how you like it!

We've had our Champion since the early 80s and it's never given us a moment's worry!

I also juice greens in my Champion - I just alternate something nice and juicy like a cuke, greens, juicy something - you get the idea. And I don't try to go fast, I let the Champion set the pace.

I'm really excited for you - I hope it gives you ALL the years of service ours has given us!

and it'll do wheatgrass if you cut it into tiny bits and juice it with something like a cucumber. anything long and stringy gets wrapped around the hub and that's not good.

mary kay... you should try a champion before you say it's no good... cause we all loooooooove ours. :D

Well - the only down side to my Champion is the woman who sold it was not entirelly truthful.....she'd used it but lightly (well worth the $75) but she LOST the original screen....so no juice. The big whole screen does pull out most of the pulp but leaves a fine pulp in the juice which will be great for the first stage of breaking my fast.

Going to look on Champion's webiste to try and order a new regular screen.

However - she is beautiful and I love her!! When I get the screen and get my fist real juice, I'll have a name :)

It should be no problem ordering a replacement screen! In the meantime - If you want to freeze some bananas (freeze them whole and peeled). Put in the "blank plate" (the plate that's solid) and feed in the frozen bananas (or any frozen fruit for that matter) and you can have a bowl of ice cream - yum! *Ü*

I have a Hamilton Beach I bought for $7 at a second hand store and it is a Centrifugal juicer yet it juices EVERYTHING lol.. I dont even cut them up. I just throw them in. It comes with a food pusher to force them down the chute. :o

katie is a champion (that's the name that came to me LOL) and her screen is very inexpensive so it's soooooooo worth the $75. trust me... you are going to be very pleased. while you are at it... order a new cutter. they only last 2 years of heavy use and trust me... you are going to want one to replace it. your juices are much nicer with a new cutter (http://www.championjuicer.com/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=18). (the grey ones are on sale too!)

Thanks for the tip!! I ordered a new screen today, I'll wait til payday and do a new cutter. I am really pleased with my purchase.... I'll have to ask my sister (Katie) how she feels about me naming my new juicer after her LOL :D it does have a nice ring to it...

I can't wait to try the ice creams and puddings and all!! I'm fasting currently but even hubby was excited when I told him what it could do. And he was super impressed with the quality of the motor

DebB, You have both a Samson and the Champion---how's about a little review/comparison? Also of greens/wheatgrass with them?

I just examined a Champion/took it apart today, and see the main diff is that the Samson has a corkscrew-like grinder, and the Champion has a flat -type one with ridges of metal "teeth."

Well - my Samson got sent back to the company in CT earlier this week. It was having squeaking motor issues. Thankfully there is a 10 year warranty on the motor.

I had to pay over $25 to ship it back though, something I'm not happy about, since how I've had it just 7 weeks. I've been in contact with them to see if they're willing to reimburse me for the shipping because of how new it is. I was told just today to call back and speak with the owner, but he let me know that's not their policy, the buyer pays shipping. It's worth another phone call at least just to be sure. But that's now what you asked, is it - ha!

I haven't had a chance to juice wheatgrass with it yet. I was just getting ready to grow it when this happened, but I'll post back after I juice WG with it.

I do love that the Samson will cold press the flax oil - that was really the selling feature for us as we take a lot of flax oil per day. We've been using it exclusively for our flax oil since we got it. We now buy organic flax seed in 25# bags for pressing.

The Champion juicer wins hands down in juicing the soft fruits. The Champion is so much better in fact, that I got it back up out of the basement and now have both juicers sitting side by side because they each excel at different things.

The Samson is much better at juicing the greens and the harder items (like carrots) than the Ch. in my opinion. And the Samson does not heat up like the Ch. does. That was a very nice surprise!

I think clean up on both units is a breeze. 1-2-3 and they're done. It doesn't bother me at all to use both juicers to make my juice - although I can understand that might not be ideal for others. It's worth it to me though.

Hope that helps! I'm happy to answer any questions I can about either juicer if I can. *Ü*

So...I just got my new screen. But it's exactly the same size hole as the one I have!! :(

First - I apologize to the universe for thinking the woman who sold me the juicer was less than honest :o

BUT - how come it juiced so much pulp? Maybe I need a new cutter instead of a screen? Any suggestions?

When I juiced tomatos I got a juicy sauce which I ended up putting into icecube trays for later use. I then juiced apples and pears and the pulp was very fine...I rigged up my mesh strainer and some cheese cloth and it took a day but the juice separated leaving a fine apple/pear puree.

I am confused... Any thoughts?

i have no idea.

why would you strain slowly instead of mylking the bag to sep the pulp? are you sure there's that much pulp??? as there's always a little. always.

tom can be thicker... but it's more of a foamy top layer. i go ahead and consume it anyway but if it's really thick i just scoop it off with a spoon.

I thought that gravity would be quicker than mylking...I was wrong.

BUT...we figured it out :D I was rejuicing the pulp and going too quickly (and the pulp was juicy as I was going too quickly) so I need to learn to SLOW DOWN and take pleasure in my juicing :D

Any juicer is better than no juicer but when you can get a masticating juicer like the Champion or the Omega and enjoy.
