I've just started transitioning raw - I decided to it gradually in the end because I already have had hair loss, am on a tight budget and have to take lots of presciption medications so i want the change to be gentle. However, since I've been adding more raw foods and veggies to my diet I've noticed that my bowels are really sluggish even though I drink plenty of water. So I'd like to give my intestines and colon a good clean but am not sure what the best way to do it is.
I went to the doctor and he prescribed some lactulose but after taking some I just felt really dehydrated and slightly headachey with lots of bowel sounds and I suspect that I have an impacted colon. I really would like to use a natural method to get clean - but i feel that I need some extra help at the moment with something that works fairly quickly. I'd be grateful for any advice - thanks. :)

She asked for a natural method. Enemas are not natural.

A healthy lifestyle over a long period of time. Exercise and a balanced, living diet.
However, if I'm not mistaken Rachel, you're looking for something quick - which is why I didn't waste your time writing that to begin with.
In my opinion, enemas are about as natural as defecating through your mouth. That is not what that end is intended for.

I agree. Just take your time, and continue to incorporate a healthy lifestyle and things should come out as they should...some of your medication might be the cause of the sluggishness..Check with your doctor to see if you absolutely have to be on all of them...As you make better choices and incorporate taw foods into your diet, I'll bet those medications will become a thing of the past!:p

Hi Mangomyst - just found out that all my medications can cause constipation! My doctor's surgery is very pro-drugs and scientifically proven medicine and basically not a lot of help. The doctor i spoke to today prescribed a fibre laxative and now I'm sitting down researching these I've found out that they are not advisable - and its probably that my intestinal flora is out of whack and i'm full of toxins. Time to change doctors I think.
Anyway, at last I had a bowel movement today! Hooray!
