Is it raw? Is it good for you? I love piling this stuff on my salads... am I being stupid?

It's not raw. But it's better for you than piling on regular cheese on that salad.

If you want a good read on Nutritional Yeast & MSG, take a look here. (http://www.daystarbotanicals.com/nutritionalyeast.html)
In a nutshell, Nutritional Yeast contains MSG. Although no MSG is added to the product, the process by which it is made causes amino acids to break down into individual components. The body knows how to deal with whole foods, but when they're broken down (via various manufacturing processes), they act very differently on the body.
I still use it occasionally to flavor nut cheeses, and sometimes sprinkled on a veg wrap. Just keep an eye on how thick that pile of yeast is on your salad ;)

Each question I ask makes me more and more thrilled that I found this message board :) Hopefully some day I have some answers and opinions for some other health noobie that comes along.
So I can still eat the yeast... I just need less of it. (i.e the top layer of my giant salad shouldn't be completely yellow anymore lol)
