View Full Version : Manitoba Harvest Shelled Hemp Seed not raw?
Well I bought these since they were on sale... they taste different from the Nutiva bran hemp seed, and they have better nutritional value. Maybe they're just more mature? Better grown? The Nutiva brand has more of a raw grassy/hempy taste and the Manitoba HArvest brand seeds taste well more... nutty. Like maybe they were dry roasted or heated in some way?
I just think they should have something on them that says RAW on the label if it's raw. It just doesn't say anything about how they were processed.

When I called them and asked about this.. they said they are raw.
I wish they would lable them that way though.

LOL, I guess they're getting a lot of calls.
I wanted to know why their label was diff't in nutritional values than Nutiva, so I called them a couple wks ago. All they could say was that they were evaluated by diff't labs.
I'm believing their label more though than Nutiva's because I'm believing it has higher fat.
Interestingly enough, I've been buying their 5-lb containrers, which taste exactly like Nutiva's to me. Then this past month, they had a special price on a 25-lb pail, so I ordered it. The minute I tasted it, I thought it was not as good. Not rancid tasting but somewhat bitter, so I'm sending it back!
I'm going to continue getting the 5-lb containers, because I'm thinking that maybe they sell more of these and they're fresher?! Although the date on the large tub was June or July 2010, so these should be fresh.. IDK, they just weren't the same. I brought them to a kid's b-day party and had everyone taste them, and they all felt (except for one person) that this new batch was not as good/bitter.
Just my two cents.
