Hello!!
I have been searching the site a bit and lots of wonderful info!
I started eating all natural in August of this year and within the last 2 weeks started aiming for completely raw. For 13 years I ate the Atkins life style, no carbs and mainly meats, cheeses and some salads. I realized once going on that way of eating that I had an allergy to yeast. I ate like that mainly because i felt better from my allergies but the diet got very old and I knew that I could not eat that way forever.
I learned about the green smoothies from one of Montel Williams shows back a few years ago when he was diagnosed with MS. That show opened my eyes to how bad the processed foods really are. In the back of my mind every time i would go to the grocery store i thought about that show and the nutritional needs for fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains in there pure form that i was completely cutting out of my diet.
Two years ago I hurt my back and it triggered my sciatic nerve. I was in pain every single day and depended on pain meds. I was also on and off of the Atkins diet constantly to eat foods for comfort. In a nutshell I felt HORRIBLE and depended on coffee all day long to get me through the day. I literally felt like the life was sucked right out of me. I stopped taking pain meds on a daily basis back in the Spring only by choice but I suffered with the pain. I would only take meds when I was at work if I couldnt handle it anymore. I knew something had to change. I am 38 and the last couple of years I felt like I was 80....
Since eating the all natural and now on to raw foods i feel TERRIFIC and pain med free!!! I have no pain whatsoever anywhere. I used to suffer headaches all the time and I don't anymore. I have so much energy now, its unbelievable, I now feel like I'm 16 again!. I used to have sinus problems and now I don't anymore. My body is full of life again, and its only the beginning!!! I'm excited for this new lifestyle and the recipes look so fun and yummy.
Sorry for such a long intro....I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. Its great to find people on the same page. My friends and coworkers think I have lost it eating what they call bird food (I have parrots) and finding out that I eat dandelion greens and putting wheat grass in my smoothies :D
