View Full Version : Oct Fasters... come join us and fast!!! (Oct 15th on)

Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:
Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."
The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.
Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!
Here's my commitment:
I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast next week in the morning but not today.
I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself and others.
I'm on Day 124 and happy to continue fasting.

This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.
Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.
We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!
Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!

Nearing the end of this really interesting and overall very positive first juice feast. I have been impeccable with my exercise during this time (lots of walking, strength training, and stretching) and next week will start a walk/jog program with a group by the ocean. I've never been inclined to exercise, so this is a big deal for me.
Although I feel really good, today I am dizzy when I stand up, and my heart seems to be beating faster than normal
?! (Not sure if it really is or if I'm just more aware of my heart beating--not something I'm normally tuned into.) So I am still in bed at 10 am (woke up at 6) and somewhat unhappily did not go for morning beach walk nor into the office. Not sure what the deal is, or why I otherwise feel so good while this is happening, but I suppose it is prudent to take it easy for the day.
I keep going back for more and more and more parsley
today it was grapefruit + orange + blueberries + parsley.
Islegirl, I've got pears and parsley and will try them together later today!
Shine, I've got a Breville juice fountain. It's centrifugal, so not ideal for greens, but it's really quick, wide mouth for whole fruits, easy to put in dishwasher, and generally fine for me when drinking up to a liter or so per day, doing mostly greens and some fruit. I *love the consistency it gives whole citrus. *However* its limitations during the juice feast have been exacerbated--the pulp/waste is still really wet, meaning that I'm really not getting as much juice as I would with other machines. I have tried putting the pulp through a second time, which helps a bit, but is a mess and a pain.
If I were doing a long juice feast and had the means I would definitely look into getting a different juicer for making large quantities, esp one that could make juice that would still be good long after it is made (eg Norwalk press).

Good Morning Fellowship...
I am sipping on my first qt. of water for the day. And I'm thinking of making some pineapple/cucumber juice to take with me to our homeschool coop classes today.
I'm not officially starting until tomorrow, however, I am going to start easing into it today. I love my juices... what can I say :cool:
I'm fasting because I want to gain more health in my body.
I'm fasting because I want to grow closer with my God. To hear His voice and learn His ways.
I'm fasting to break bad/old eating habbits.
I'm fasting because I love to fast. I love my fresh juices. I feel so good while fasting.
I want to try to add in some exercises and stretches this time around.
in Light,
Cathy aka ~The Lady Aredhel~ :D

Hello my fasting friends. :) Yesterday went off without a hitch. I have experienced NO hunger during this fast. (except for emotional hunger which Aleesha pointed out is NOT true hunger.) I am on Day 8. I find fasting to be so FREEING for me. I have gone back to college after 15 year hiatus and fasting has turned out to be an AWESOME tool. I don't have to send much time in the kitchen at all, so more of my energies can be used for my studies. I know I've complained about it before, but after 8 days I really haven't released any weight. I'm not exercising (due to PACKED schedule right now) but I would think that I still should be releasing *something*.
Do you have to experience hunger or detox first? I am drinking about 1/2 a gallon of juice a day-(1/2 lettuce, celery, parsley, and the other half either apple or OJ). And drinking 2 quarts of herbal tea/water.
I know everyone will say "don't get on the scale" but I want to see that flippin' needle MOVE. LOL!
I feel like somehow this fast has been easy and therefore can't be doing me any good. I feel good, but still F-A-T. I'm not looking to be a movie star, just drop a few pounds so my clothes fit again. I am doing this for healing, but I figured a part of healing would be to burn off some of this extra 50+ lbs I put on in the last 2 years.....
feeling good but concerned today.

Dear Lady Aredhel-
how do you strain the pineapple well enough to keep from stimming hunger? Your combo sounds deeee-vine!
GoodCat
10-15-2010, 08:14 AM
Zaphirah... I add in a cucumber which thins out the juice some and then I just pour it through a strainer.
The longest fast I've done was 28days, and I didn't have any issues with the juice causing hunger :)
I hope you try it... its yummy!!

Good Morning Fasters!
lady Aredhel - nice to have you here :) Hope you have a smooth transition and a great fast!!
I am sipping on some tea at the moment - Fasting mixed with Raspberry and am down 1 liter of water :cool:
Today will be a water fast until I get home and can make some juice....or choose to continue water....as I had no time to make juice last night or this morning. I am aprehensive but willing to give it a go. I have options and I don't want to break my fast just because I wasn't prepared.
Zaph - I have only been here four days but I haven't released any weight either....I say this becuase during all my fasts last year I released weight very quickly, lots in the first three days. When I did a three day mc this summer I released nothing when last summer I released close to 20lbs in the same time period :eek: I am not sure what's happening and I know I am frustrated as I know in the excess weight (that I have put back on) is negativity and waste and I can't wait for it to go away again!!
Thank you ALL for the juicer info. I am going to start a new juicer search. My old certerfuigal(??) Black n Decker does the job but.....
Smiles through the rain drops here in Maine :D

Anyone find romaine juice to be a sedative? I am SOOOOO relaxed right now. In fact, I am considering coming off my antidepressant and just drinking lettuce juice the rest of my life. :D I thought something was up-I haven't given a hoot about my homework this week-which is SOOO unlike me. I am usually a super panicky person when it comes to school, deadlines, housework. All week I've been like *shrug* "Eh. It can wait" and smile smile smile.
I love this feeling. Oh crap. I'm hooked on lettuce juice. I can quit anytime. really I can. honest! If you start finding hypodermic needles with green residue in them, then you know I am in trouble. LOL!!!

Shine-how frustrating, eh? I don't want to be a healthy 180 lbs person, ya know? I'd like to live at about 130-140. I think I will have to get into weights in order to do that. School is DRASTICALLY cutting, no, it has ELIMINATED excerise right now. wah. I took too many classes. Silly Zaphi. :rolleyes:

Just want to take a quick moment to say good morning to everyone and to wish you well. I have another super busy day at work today and won't be able to chime in very much.
At any rate, yesterday was a fairly easy day. I love starting it with a workout. I enjoyed the dry skin brushing before bed and before my morning shower. I don't know if I will ever stop brushing... it feels so good. I enjoy listening to Gary Null on tape to and from work.
This morning I've had a glass of lemonade with fresh lemon juice and raw agave with MSM and did 30 minutes on the elliptical.

I have the house to myself today - hopefully most of the day. I just love it. So glad I checked in here this morning too. Caught up on all your posts.:)
Aleesha - again, you are amazing. The way you describe your savory juice sure stimulates the imagination!:eek:
I dropped in at just the right time. I was going to ask what P & B shakes are too because I am terribly constipated. In fact, this morning I had an orange please Aleesha, you didn't see that! (sometimes that works for me) and I am sipping on "smooth move" tea. Then I saw the article about P & B shakes (thanks Aleesha) and so I am off to buy some Bentonite this morning. I think I have the psyllium already.
Zinny - to be able to walk by the ocean is my dream! :D Hence my name "Islesgirl". I am so passionate about the sea. I haven't been there for a long time. As a girl, we used to go to a place called "Hermit Island" in Maine for two weeks each summer. I will never forget it. And I grew up on a waterfront property on Lake St. Louis just outside Montreal. Sailing, swimming, boating there is unforgettable for me. So, may I join you on your walks?
As for juicers, I have an Omega 8003 which works great but I seldom use because I don't like how long it takes as the chute is so small (poor design in my opinion) although it is fabulous for making almond flour or banana ice cream. It does get out all the juice though and is easy to clean.
I also have the Breville Juice Fountain Elite and it is a breeze to use and fast and I always drink up my juice right away. And if you get it you must remember to clean it up right away or be sure to immerse the strainer part in water, not allowing it to dry out, or it will be harder to clean later. I agree that some juice is wasted though. I read what Sarma Melngailis had to say about the Norwalk Press and if I ever have the money I might look into that.
Anyway I am continuing on with my water other than these little deviations - oh yeah, I had another unmentionable because I hoped it would fix my "plumbing", but no go.
As for the camera - I wasted 2 whole days trying to figure it out. I went on-line trying to find tutorials, videos to help - nothing. Zilch. Nikon has "Dummy" books too for lots of their cameras, but not this one! Grrrr. So I finally called a good friend last night and she is coming tomorrow to help me. And she is such a sweetie - I know she truly doesn't mind helping me. My son also offered to help. My husband doesn't care about my learning all the details of how to operate it - I do.
Have I said enough here? I like to "talk" eh?
The weather here is lovely - going to be a fine weekend.
love to you - my dear rawbie friends.:)

wow lots to respond to. first and foremost... isle... i'm not the fasting police, *giggling* you don't have to worry about me seeing that your made a choice that you are happy about *smile*... (((hugs)))
the norwalk juicer looks amazing but the price... i doubt it's really worth that much. i'd stick with the champion as IMO it's the best value for the money. it does greens just fine as long as you cut them up (which i do). takes little time and is worth it.
to increase weight release... increase your water intake. try to drink two litres of water first thing in the day before you drink any juices and then keep drinking a glass of water each time you pee until noon. that should move things for ya.
sorry... i'm not very chatting right now. i hope i didn't miss anyone questions.
sipping on cantaloupe juice...

Also got the B for the P& B shakes. I will start that tomorrow morn too.

Today was mostly fun. We celebrated boss's day at work and my friend and I took our boss's out for lunch. It was a lot of fun. We work for some great guys.
Tomorrow night is a surprise 40th birthday party for one boss... Our General Mgr. So, we're going to my friend's house for a while and then we'll go to the party together. Everyone has to wear black in honor of his 40th. He's like a big kid so I'm sure we'll laugh non stop!
The weather has been super here. I love fall temps! It's so pleasant.
We're watching Iron Man 2 now so I'd better go pay attention!
Have a super evening!

islesgirl, come join me for a walk by the water any time!
BTW I also find lettuce juice to be very calming!
So yesterday was a tough day--dizziness and loss of appetite persisted. Also a little bit dizzy this morning, so I am going to break the fast one day early--I really need to *not be dizzy by Monday! I am presuming that this is from lack of calories as I really have had a hard time getting in much juice. I have been drawn to more of a juice fast than a juice feast in the past few days. Perhaps more of a fast is what the body most desires right now, but it just does not jive with my work schedule for the rest of this month. I will take the weekend to slowly break the fast, and plan on eating very lightly/all raw/lots of juice this week.
Thank you all for your support! This first juice feast has been a great break for my body and mind. I will want to do a longer, deeper cleanse at some point, but this has been a great intro.

Hey everyone, looks like I'm back to join you for some more fasting fun ;)
It's only been a week since I stopped and I'm already itching for more juice and cleansing. I'm getting better with each fast, but still have only managed 7 days as my longest, and I'd like to extend that. My goal this time is 14 days :eek: I can't even believe I just put that out to the universe... :D
My goals during this fast are:
~To increase the amount of greens I take in.
~To give my digestive system a break.
~To release toxins (will use chlorella to help this)
~To find some new juice combinations to prevent me from becoming bored.
~To take advantage of the extra time I'll have (making juice is easier for me than food prep) to do some spiritual work and meditation, yoga, taking more walks.
~To increase my water intake.
I'm really looking forward to starting tomorrow morning. Thankfully I have a long shift at work, which will keep me busy for the first half of the day. Keeping busy helps me during the first few days. Tomorrow evening I may visit with a friend, we usually meet at a coffee shop to chat. I am already thinking which herbal tea I'll order... yum!
Oh, about the names... I would really love to choose a fasting name but I have a hard time coming up with good ones... When I was a kid, our cat had a litter of six kittens and I got to name them all. Well, the fuzzy one was named Mr. Fuzz, the skinny one was String Bean (aka Beanie lol), the little one was named Baby... you get my drift :o How are you all coming up with these great names? Please share your secrets! *giggling*

Hi Melly - welcome back to fasting!
Your plan sounds wonderful and so nourishing to all of you!
I came up with my name using the list on here:
http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/elvish/girlnames.html
It's an elvish name list.
Also think about where you are on your spiritual/fasting journey or what you like - and see if anything comes up there.

So I began breaking my fast this morning with a green smoothie ... about an hour later I had diarrhea and now a few hours later have two new zits, one fairly major. Not what I was expecting at all--this is more like a detox that I thought I would have the first few days! The green smoothie was fairly basic--the only ingredient in there that I haven't had (in juice form) during the jf were soaked prunes. If any of the more experienced fasters have any insight into what's going on, I'm all ears.

zap, i've read where they've talked about both powdered and the husks. the reason you use the husks is because they scrape... the powder (apparently) does not. i would wait.
zinny, cause your body is getting the last of it's detox done before you eat???

I did not have time to post yesterday. It is sunny today so after taking the kids to their activities, I am going to go for a walk and enjoy the sun.
I am feeling good but I do wish I did not have to go to work.
I still have been going to bed too late but oh well.

I also just had some pineapple/cucumber/apple juice. It was very nice. My littlest one who got sick this morning didn't want to eat any "food", so she shared some of my pineapple juice. She loves juices just like her mommy ;)

YAY! Thank you soo much, RawkinM. I was able to pick out a name that I think suits me at this time using the site you suggested. I am going with Alassėa (pronounced Ah-lahs-say-ah) which means "happy." At this point in my life journey I'm really learning how to be happy. Truly. I used to always say, "I'll be happy when..." but I'm changing that to "I am happy." Only I am able to decide whether I'm happy or not, I can't let others moods bring me down, or outside circumstances keep me from truly enjoying life and appreciating every wonderful thing/person I have. I've been spending more time thinking of the things I'm grateful for, cutting out negative words from my vocabulary, and taking good care of my physical health and my spirit. I'm amazed at the endless number of things I can be thankful for each day. It seems the more you give thanks, the more things you have to be thankful for :)
I just got home from work and already on day 1 I'm feeling pretty "juicy" in the brain ;) so I hope the above made sense. My boyfriend and I are thinking of taking a walk to Whole Foods this evening, it's only about a brisk 15-20 mins each way and we'd both love a little fresh air. I think I'll pickup some more goodies to juice, but not sure what. I'm thinking tomatoes are a must.
Not sure if I'll be seeing my gal-friend for tea tonight, as we're having a bit of car troubles. I'm just finishing up some juice right now and debating on whether or not to take a short nap... hmm. Will check in later!

I ended up taking a nap for a couple hours, I didn't realize how much I needed the rest until I laid down. Woke up just in time to still walk to Whole Foods with the bf before they closed. Picked up some beautiful heirloom tomatoes, celery, cucumber, kale and other veggies. Made a delightful juice with it all, and when I say delightful I mean de-freakin'-lightful!! :p Having some chlorella tablets as well, which perfectly compliment the juice. Never got to hang with my friend, but it's for the better because I think we're going to make a whole day out of tomorrow. Gives me a chance to rest up tonight.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, Whoa-raw. I hope you have a wonderful day of fasting!

Tomorrow I will join you on a waterfast throughout the day and end it with some smoothie or juice tomorrow afternoon. Have had a not so good weekend, let's blow it out of the park with a nice and refreshed body through fasting..

I love taking naps. I always can tell when I really need one...
I think if we're floating down a river, it would have to be made of tomato juice ;)...... wes loves our tomato juices :p
I watched a touching movie with my children and now I'm going to go read for a little before bed.
I'll see you all tomorrow..

I've changed my mind about sharing how important Monday is to me, since it's been settling on me that I should keep it private. And I'm gonna do the same as what Lady Awen is doing too.... I will be a hermit in my cave also for my smoothie feast tomorrow. Tomorrow is really time between me and God. So I will be meditating and get in the zone!!
The Tomato River sounds more like you and Lady Awen. :)
Sounds like you need rest and peaceful music, Lady Awen. Like the sanctuary you showed us this morning. Beautiful place!

Strange how everyone is drawn toward tomatoes right now, I too was drawn toward them yesterday!!
I guess it's time for the tomato river rush!!! :D
Anyways, I'll post later in evening tomorrow and let everyone know how it went with the smoothie feast!!

I found my "name". Of course, I won't remember it any time soon! I guess I could go by the name for "Missy" (not my real name. It's a name DH gave me when we were dating.) but I think I'll stick with my "proper" name. Funny that it means "moon maiden" and I am not a night person at all and rarely see the moon!
Yesterday turned out to be quite enjoyable going with friends to my boss's surprise 40th birthday party. Today I am back to fasting, though. We'll be working in the woods, yet again, and getting groceries. I will probably use the sauna later in the day.
Not sure why, but I just don't feel very talkative yet this morning, so I will just go back and read some of what I missed yesterday!

good morning everyone. i had a really good night's sleep and am hoping i'm out of the woods and back in the world again. we'll see how the day progresses.
once again, after this water fast... much of the weight has returned when i started drinking juices. i'm guessing that my body is actually dehydrating when i'm water fasting??? and then rehydrating with juice. i'm not really too sure. all i know if that it has happened both times i've water fasted. odd...
not bothering me at all cause i feel great and look good in my clothes but wanted to share it in case anyone else goes through the same.

Hey everyone. I'm having a pretty good day so far. I waited until about noon to have anything, I drank water from last night into this morning which I think my body enjoyed. I got a nice burst of energy after I drank my noon-time juice which I needed, because I'll be spending the afternoon hanging with a friend. We are going to make a stop at the mall which I'm not sure is the best idea for me right now, with all the aromas and such. But they do have a few juice bars, so I can at least run to one of those if I get a little nutty. I'm just hoping I have the energy to run around town, and that I'm not too irritable to not enjoy myself completely. I honestly wouldn't mind laying in bed the entire day.

Lady Alassėa take today as a learning experience... you will discover what you can do (at this point) and what you cannot. :)
Lady Aredhel, I have to tell you something. I tried the cucumber pineapple blend you suggested. I added ginger to it as well. I am completely 100% blown away by how much BETTER it is than straight pineapple. I never thought in a million years I'd say those words.
WOW!!! Thank you thank you thank you.
Two pineapples and one and a quarter english cucumbers gave me 3 litres of juice!!!
Off to spend the say with my hubby... some much needed quality time.

Just chillin' out tonight. I ended up stepping in a ground wasp nest in the woods. It was in a hole that was covered with leaves so when I stepped in it, there they were. I had gloves on and felt something sting my hand. Then I saw more flying around so moved away from that area and watched as they started swarming out. Needless to say, I decided that was enough of working in the woods for today!
I have gotten stung so many times this summer by wasps and yellow jackets! They have been all over the place trying to build nests and I have managed to cross their paths too many times! I'm fortunate that I don't have an allergy to them and hope I never develop one!
Back to work tomorrow. The weekend sure went fast!

Today was great! After posting earlier about wanting to spend the day in bed, I took a short half hour nap and felt really rejuvenated. I was able to spend a very fun and laughter-filled day with my friend. I even lived through the mall excursion, watching her eat lunch which I must say was difficult. We sat right next to the juice place though in case I wanted to grab something. I held off, I wasn't that thirsty/hungry and I couldn't really justify spending $6 on a small juice if I wasn't in need of one. We went to a few other places after that, then settled in at barnes & noble, where I read some books on fasting. I am so grateful for the amount of energy I had today after the way I felt this morning... so grateful. I have another day off tomorrow which I hope to spend relaxing and stretching. I hope everyone else had as nice a Sunday as I did <3 !!

She lives in another state and said that they are thinking of coming out for Thanksgiving. I haven't seen her or her family in over 2 years, so I'm excited!!
Lets see... tonight I had ...... tomato/veggie juice :eek: I know... its surprising **giggle** It was soooooo good... I could totally see me and Lady Awen floating down the tomato river, helping ourselves to as much tomato juice as we wanted :rolleyes:.
Off to take a bath and then to bed. Another week ahead.

Lady Alassėa, I hear you on the juice. That's how I was today when we were out. My hubby wanted to get me one but I was happy to wait till I got home. I did have a 500ml of Aredhel's Nectar with me! ;)

I can not believe it had already been 7 days. I felt a little dizzy at the grocery store today but that is because I did not drink enough water. Also I had to run around to 3 other stores so I was tired. But I felt better once I was home and drank some more water.
I have to work more hours this week and I just wish I could be wealthy so I did not have to work. :)
I hope everyone had a good day.

Good Monday Fasters :)
Quick check in!! So much happened over the weekend, takes a while to catch up. I am computer free on weekends :)
So, made some choices this weekend that were not condusive to my fast, it's goals or my spirit. It was a hard weekend for me, being the second anniversary of my Step-Father's death and my husband heading away for a week's training in another state. I emotionally ate through it knowing exactly what I was doing and punishing myself for eating by eating more....
Today is a new day :D!! I have fruit at the ready and tomato/spinich juice for lunch. One litre of h2o down and will try for two more today. Tomorrow I will begin another cleanse and dedicate myself more fully. I think hubby being away this week will afford me ME time and I plan to clean out my house as I clean out my body!!
My best to all and hope everyone is having a GREAT morning!!

What a beautiful fall day! I think some apple gingery juice is called for, maybe with some cinnamon... yum!
I'm changing job locations next week, so I got up early and did a few things in preparation for it. I think this week will be bittersweet. I'll miss the people I'm working with now, but I love change and experiencing new things.
Our cat has been a little under the weather the past couple days. It was just hairball related, but I have trouble sleeping when I know my little sweetie is feeling uncomfortable in the stomach. He looks much better this morning, I think he got the last out of him overnight. Now I feel like I can finally relax, I may crawl back into bed for a little bit :)

zap, see you another time soon. congrats on your fast.
i'm looking forward to a nice cantaloupe juice today. really looking forward to it. i've barely had any lately... waiting for my cantaloupes to ripen. what i've learned is this... if the fruit (toms, cant etc) are not fully and almost on the verge of being over-ripe you don't get nearly as much juice from them and the juice tastes richer when it's more ripe. so i try to leave mine till it's ready rather than juicing it early.
today is day... 128. just another day in the life of a fast... nothing particularly special other than we are decorating a haunted house (like a gingerbread house) today and then i have the crystal bowl meditation tonight. ;)

I love your fridges Lady Aredhel! Right now I'm renting, so I have no room for a second. I actually have considered bringing my old college fridge (one of the larger-sized varieties) and giving it to my boyfriend and cat :p
I must admit, I'm having a very rough time with this fast. I'm wondering if I should just stick with the shorter ones, maybe 3 or 4 days max. My longest has been 7 days, and by the end of that I was practically dying to eat. I was literally seeing food in places it wasn't, and yes I was drinking more than enough juice. I think I just love to eat. I usually can go 3-4 days and be totally fine, maybe I should do several shorter fasts rather than trying to undertake one big one. How long do you think I should wait between fasts if I plan to do only a few days at a time? I'm not even sure if I'll end this one right now, or try and stick it out longer but I'm reaching out to you gals because you're the only people I know who have done this kind of thing before. I have tried to offer to make my boyfriend his juices if he ever chose to fast along with me, which he would love to do but isn't ready for it just yet. I think once he tries it, he'll understand more. All in his own time :)
I hope everyone else is having a beautifully juicy evening.

It took me many fasts to get to a longer one. I was soooo proud of myself when I achieved a 45 day fast... so proud. It was beyond empowering to do it.
But it's all in due time. Take it easy on yourself. Attempt to go as long as possible each time and take a break when you feel the need. Go with YOUR flow.
Lady Aredhel, guess what just arrived? I knew I was waiting to make my tom juice tonight for a reason... I'm off to do that now!!!

Today's been a great day.
And I have to say - with starting and stopping the 3 little fasts I've done the last few weeks - it gets easier each time and it's not scary or daunting and my body gets more energized each time. But this fast will be a longer one. I am ready to get deep healing done.
My hubby was sooo cute today! He had to go run an errand and while he was out he went to our local health store down the street and got me various kinds of waters. It was so sweet! I am so blessed! :D Our fridge is packed with waters and some fresh juice for him since he's juice fasting.

I am doing good but work made me tired. I can not believe it is almost 10 days. I am glad we have this thread so I can share my days with everyone here.
Aleesha- I am only drinking water and nothing else. I just have one of those weird bodies that does better on water fasting then other types of fasting. I have always got lots of energies on my water fast. I do have the odd days I get tired. Usually closer to 40 days.
The only really bad symptom I do not like is feeling cold but I always feel cold even not fasting.
Anyway I hope everyone had a good fasting day.

Quick question here, just wondering which brand of Bentonite clay and Psyllium Husk you two have used. i would like to start doing the P&B shake. The bentonite clay is not available in the health food stores around here so I have to order some in. And also for the Psyllium Husk, for this I'm confused about the part where it points out to not use the powdered form, so what exactly am I looking for?
I read that it's a very good stuff!! Would like to see for myself! :D

I have had a cup of Detox Tea mixed with Raspberry Leaf Tea and am sipping on my first litre of water. I have tomato juice and makings for MC Lemonade as well, which is what I am going to focus on for a while.
Melly - I am with you on length. I did 9 days once but broke it very poorly, other than that I have done 3 and 4 days. I am just starting again. I might end up doing Tue, Wed, Thurs each week for a while. But for today I am thinking about today.

Today is day 2 for me :rolleyes:
Last night around 9:30 I got the munchies, like usual. :D
But I didn't eat. I kept thinking how much better I will feel in the morning by not having any food sitting in my stomach.
Although raw is amazing, too much of anything good isn't good at all. I am a self-proclaimed binge eater. I can eat a million healthy things in one sitting but I don't feel so hot afterward.
The less I eat the more better I feel and the more energy I have :confused:

71 days is awesome! I wish I had kept track. I'm sure I could get a rough estimate, but I think I had a few days where I unintentionally fasted. I think I'll start writing it down, so I have a larger number to look at than thinking I "only" fasted 3 days this month... you know? :) I stopped fasting today, but I want to start up again. The peaceful feeling my body gets has got me hooked. Aleesha (or others) do you have any suggestions on how long to wait between shorter fasts? Or does it even matter? I was thinking of doing another 2 or 3 day one at the end of this week.

let your body recover from the fast. but honestly what i've always done is just gone with the flow. if my body asks me to start another fast... i just do it. regardless of what food is in the house etc. i don't use "oh i have to eat this first" as an excuse to not fast...

Fasting a day here and a day there is beneficial. There's no doubt about that. But true healing... and true health comes from extended fasts, not short ones.
The body doesn't get into it's deep healing cycle until you are into your fast. The first days is simply your body adjusting to the lack of solids... (on a juice fast) and to the lack of sugars (on a water fast).
So remember... although it's great to do short fasts. If you are looking for healing - if you are looking for deep cleansing - a longer fast is the way to achieve this.

Yes..yes... longer is better for healing. And each day I choose to fast gets me closer to my goal ;)

Hello everyone and well wishes to you all. I haven't been posting as I have been so busy at work and really just going with the flow of things.
This is day 8 for me and it's going well. However, I just don't feel the desire or the need to continue. So, I will probably end it on the upcoming Monday. I can certainly keep going but I just don't want to do it for the sake of doing it. The most important thing for me is breaking it correctly which I did not do last time.
Best wishes everyone!!! I will be reading in there with you in spirit.

"oh i have to eat this first"
I don't just use this....I create this :eek: Some fear of letting go or moving on or...being happy? I think I will journal on this tonight. This more than resonates with me and deserves some time.
Feeling quite good. One litre of water down and working on my second. Also had 32oz of MC lemonade and two cups of various Yogi teas.
I took a great walk at lunch on the woods path and realized that in all this extra weight is years of being afraid to say "NO" in so many situations. I want to journal on this idea at some point too.
I feel blessed to me today - exactly as I am :) ~Maethoriel

Just got home from my massage. The woman who does it hasn't done one in awhile for me... and she was amazed at how there's no 'excess skin' on my body with all the weight I've released. She came over and borrowed some raw food books from me (she lives down the street)... :D

Oh isn't it though! I have stretch marks on my belly... I've birthed three beautiful babies but I don't have extra skin which is great. I don't feel unattractive when I'm unclothed LOL
Just had my tom juice for lunch. Couldn't wait. I used the smoked paprika, which was lovely but not enough spice for me. I added in the smoked chipolte and then a bit more cayenne - cause I was wanting a lot of spice.
Hands down... my fav is the cajun... but I love all three of these! Lady Aredhel... thank you thank you thank you!!!

Thanks for the advice Aleesha and Aredhel. I think that's why I keep trying to undertake these longer fasts, because I would really love to get some deeper healing and cleansing. I think the shorter ones keep me in check so that I don't veer toward non-raw foods when I'm not fasting, but overall I really think I'd benefit a lot more and even enjoy a longer fast. I really thought with writing in this thread I would have more will power to stick with it when the going got a little rough, having somewhere to check-in. I almost think I need fasting boot camp lol Or just someone working with me one-on-one even. I think it may even be something psychological that's deeply rooted in me, as I always seem to sabotage my efforts to reach my bigger goals in life. I'm learning not to do that in my job, now I need to start carrying it into my personal life. And no one in my life has ever fasted or even considered it for any reason, so I feel like when I do I have to kind of hide it. I'm not overweight, so I think people are confused why I'd want to abstain from eating solid foods and see it almost as an eating disorder. I'm working through all these issues though. Got to love soul evolution!:D

Hence why I work with people one on one (http://www.timelessspirit.com/coaching.html) Melly... sometimes we need that. I know I have in the past and it assisted me tremendously.
A pretty intense case of butt pee began earlier today. I thought it settled but tonight... I'm spending most of my time on the toilet. It feels like I first released acid to burn my anus... and now what is coming out is straight hot cayenne. I am so sore... my anus is swollen. I'm not a happy mama in this moment. Not sure what caused this... I'm guessing the good deep cleansing massage was the start (which I'm pleased about cause now this is all out instead of in me) but... or should I say butt... all the chipolte and cajun spices I've had in the past two days... and cayenne... is definitely showing me how strong it really is! Burn baby burn!!! This butt is on fire!

Just wanted to touch base! I broke my jf on the weekend, which was a good thing as I really needed two days at home near the bathroom ;) I broke the fast correctly and all week have been eating all raw, low fat, very gradually adding in new foods, and of course still drinking a lot of juice. Still feeling pretty good, improved mood/outlook overall. My bf decided to buy himself a juicer! :D
I lost 7.8 pounds, and have gained back 2--it's not surprising that some would come back on but not sure if I'm done gaining or how much is normal.

yup, i posted (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showpost.php?p=631359&postcount=38) the interview in the thread in the personal growth section. ;)
did you know that the medicinal part of garlic is the sprout? that centre part. so if he removed the outer soft shell and gets that slimmer sprout part of the garlic and just takes it like a pill... it'll increase his ability to heal and lessen the amount of garlic breath he has! if he doesn't cut that sprouted part at all... often you don't get any garlic breath from it!

actually i've learned some very 'unhealthy' things about the psyllium husks. they can cause blockages if you don't drink sufficient water (and sometimes even if you do) after ingesting it.
so if i was going to do it... i'd use ground flax instead. and... i may do it. it's not bothering me. it's not painful at all. just annoying LOL

Well, last night I transitioned into a juice fast. I want to be exercising not saving my energy for my next healing crisis. (I've been itching to be active - it's been too nice even if its chilly). So total combined water and juice fast days so far is around 12 I think. Maybe in the really cold time when I just want to stay in warm coziness will I water fast at length.
And I've been taking my health assessment and seeing what herbs, etc to add to help my body heal. Been reading success stories and watching awesome positive videos on it. I decided the other night, I am going to get well. All of my fatigue and etc has consumed my life - I need my life back. So my health is priority #1 right now. (Hubby is totally with me on it.) Woo!

I've been mostly lurking lately. I feel like a Peeping Thomasina!
Every time I fast, even if it's only for a day or two, I get blurry vision. I know the liver and detoxing can cause that but since it was happening so much and so fast and every time I break my fast, my vision improves soooo fast that I started thinking it might be hypoglycemia. I've had issues with that in the past, but haven't had any real noticeable problems in recent years. But DH kept making comments to me about how I seem to really "zone out" at times and can't seem to function, etc. I just thought that was normal fasting issues, but the vision has really gotten to me so I started reading more and more and have decided that when I fast, I will include some avocado or banana slices every 3 hours. If my vision doesn't get blurry, I will tend to believe it's hypoglycemia. Since that is tied in to thyroid problems as well, and I do have those, it would make sense.
Other than that, all is well here. My procedure that was supposed to be today had to be rescheduled for November 11th. I'm kind of glad for that. I've had a Norplant in my arm for about 20 years that I just never got around to having removed! It doesn't bother me, although DH says it's probably leeching stuff into my body since it's silicone. So, I finally talked to my gynecologist about getting it out.
Anyway... Happy Friday all! And congrats to everyone on their fasts!

Good morning all - just been lurking too - so busy.
Aleesha I just wanted to let you know that I am swallowing the Bentonite and the psyllium the way you told me you do it - and it works! So much easier, so I thank you very much. Am feeling so much lighter and am planning to start increasing the amount I use today.:D
Tried taking pics with my camera again this morning and it was "no go"! Just frustrating, trying to see myself (my face) in the mirror to get a shot. Have to take the time to read more. I freeze when my husband takes my pic - got to learn how to do it myself. Perhaps it is by holding camera off to the side - but I wasn't able to see my face in the monitor that way. I'll learn though.
I have already learned how to upload pics from it to my computer. Husband took some pics of something I wanted to sell.
I took one of a violet on our dining room table but couldn't figure stuff out from there. Now I have to clean the house - company coming tomorrow morning.:D
Oh, I am feeling quite energetic, am in Ketosis, and am swimming in water - off to drink another litre.

islegirl, consider switching your psyllium husks to flax meal (ground flax) instead. it'll do the same thing with the same results but it's safer. i had a long talk with a very educated woman who runs our health food store. she was enlightening me to psyllium husks and honestly... i'll never take them again.
we have homeschooling coop today. today is my day to teach. i'm the art teacher and we are decorating pumpkins. no cutting for us... all paint, glue guns, pompoms, feathers, shells, acorns, pine cones, straw hats... ninja scarfs... whatever the kids want to do. such a creative group too... i can't wait to see what they all create!
i'll be taking grapefruit juice and cantaloupe with me. i've ordered 2 cases of young coconuts and a 25 pound case of roma toms for myself which i pick up today. should be another great day in the life of this faster. (day 132)
;) love to you ALL!

miss... why not get tested for it? since it starts right away. ask your doc if you can fast for two days... get the blood test done and see how it reads?

Aleesha - thank you muchly for the tip - I'll make the switch right away.
Btw, I never really thought too much about my user name, but it probably would sound better if it were islegirl - not islesgirl. I tried to change it but notice that we can't do that any more. You'll just have to imagine me sailing around the seas from one lovely little paradise to another soaking up the sun, playing on the beaches and swimming to my heart's content.:D

I guess I posted yesterdays post too late and it showed up for today. I had a really late night yesterday.
I have so much to do today actually all weekend I will be running around with the kids and I have a lot of stuff to do around here.
My pants are loose today which is ice since they were too tight for so long.
I still have great energy and no cramps even though my period came today.
Bikediva- Good luck on your water fast.
Shine- Have a great day!
Aleesha- Have fun with the pumpkin decorating
Islesgirl-Good luck with the picture thing.

If I'd had the procedure done today, I would've asked about the blood work. I guess it will wait till next month and I'll see what she says about getting it checked. I just had it checked last month and all they told me was it "looked good" and there were "no problems". They usually send results by mail but I never got any so I need to ask about that also.
I ended up going to my chiro after work today. Felt good to get adjusted. Came home and used the sauna. Maybe between those two things I will sleep really good tonight! I had trouble falling asleep last night and then woke up early so I've felt a little tired all day today.

19 weeks! That calls for more tom. juice, doesn't it?! :D
Well, I realized that I had only listened to my cd from Nat Doc once and that was just after we'd gotten back from the beach and were getting ready to head for NY when Dad passed away. I knew if anything would give me some insight on things, that would... I usually listen to them several times after he gets my hair analysis results... Which is his entire point in putting the info on cd... so people will listen over and over...
I have just not been entirely focused on popping it in to listen this past month +, but I decided I really needed to. Sure enough, one of my ratios points to insulin sensitivity and my need to avoid sweets including fruits (limit to 1 fruit per day) and to not let myself ever go too long between meals and then there is the "p" word... protein... that helps regulate it. Then I checked out insulin sensitivity and blurry vision and there's a lot of info on that. So, I'm definitely going to try adding the small slices of avocado during my fasts from here on out. I read a couple of places saying to add protein to juices, but other places say not to do that (the whole Opti Fast issue being the case in point), so I'll stick with avocado.
My back is quite sore today from my chiro adjustment plus sitting in his massage chair. Gotta go try to work it off.
Happy Saturday!

Anyways, I may also include oil infused water as well to my fast today.
I was doing some soul searching and the answer I got was that my job was to find all the good in the world everyday, Spiritually, I was given a job. It gives me a sense of purpose that I'm doing something worthwhile! So I'm gonna keep a journal about all the good that I have seen that day daily. I've already got started on it yesterday. It's perfect because it lines up with my new mantra, "All Is Well In My World"!
So my focus today is to increase my awareness mentally, spiritually, and physically to be guided on my true path of Life.
Peace!

Lady Winday, if you choose to do an extended fast (over 21 days) you will find some really deep spaces in your being after day 21. It's worth fasting for!
Miss, I think adding the slices of avo is a great idea. Best thing about it... it gifts you the opportunity to see if it makes a difference for ya. It's a nice gentle way to experience fasting and possibly not have those other symptoms. Please keep us updated on your progress and experience with it!!!
Lady Aredhel, it's so nice that you have your hubby on this journey with you. I have some cool blogging to share about my conversation with my hubby last night. ;)
Today I'm doing a high water day. Haven't done one in awhile. So lots of water till dinner. I have a crystal bowl class to attend today. I have no idea what we are doing... but I'm excited to be attending and experiencing the bowls in a new way. I love sitting in meditation while they are played... but actually playing them will be a new and welcome experience for me I'm sure.
The place I attend these meditations at has started a new drum circle - starting tomorrow. I've signed myself up for a spot in those as well. I have a drum and would love to attend a circle. The energies will be amazing... at least that's what I'm anticipating!
Ahhhhhhh I love my life.

Day 2 of the Master Cleanse for me. Trying to chase away negative thoughts. I've been in a weird state almost all summer long. Time to get back to good. I don't enjoy the thought of drinking the lemonaide for the next few days. However.... I am looking forward to regaining the balance that I have been missing. I did several short juice fasts this summer but I could not get into the bliss state that I was looking for. BRING ON THE BLISS!!!!!

i just had an hour long sauna, followed by a 30 min detox bath (clay and himalayan salts) and i drank some bentonite clay in the tub as well. i've done 5 or 6 litres of water so i'm done water for the day.
i danced my butt off in the tub. listening to james blunt and just moved and danced... it was a blast! laying there... taking in the detox... and celebrating!!!
i'm in a great mood - in case any of you missed that - i'm off to my crystal bowl class in a few hours!

Today, good so far. The chamomile tea has really gotten me to be in a very mellow mood today.
Lady Awen ~ Thank you for presenting something for me to ponder on something that really had me pondering! :) I would like to do that at some point, though I feel right now is not the time to do it. I can see how it would be beneficial. I've been thinking about this all day and my instinct tells me to wait as to doing an extended fast. For now it is one day fast for each week. I really appreciate the thought though.

It was quite a day for us. Went to see a great blues singer/friend and her hubby who plays guitar (and is fantastic). She was nominated for female blues vocalist of the year last year. She is phenomenal. Great great voice! Hearing her sing just mellows me out. But as a teen she did drugs and contracted Hepatitis C. She's tried to live a pretty natural lifestyle and did a lot of homeopathy to help control it, but after an overseas tour, she came home exhausted and after a fall had some bleeding internally that was linked to the Hep C. When they did some surgery, they found she has cancer on her liver. It is inoperable due to the Hep C. So, she is in pretty bad shape. She's taking chemo and it's kicking her butt. She dropped from 165# to 120#. DH use to play with them locally and he sent them links about juicing. They called and wanted to try the juice and smoothies. He took some to them along with alkaline water. They bought a juicer yesterday to do their own so we went over today to show them how to use it and to take them more alkaline water.
She is having a hard time even keeping the juice down, but at least it's staying down for a little while so she's getting some nutrition from it. There were a couple of things she wanted to get that she had tried thanks to a friend that owns a natural store nearby, so we went to get her some more... That store was out but they were nice enough to call around and find a store that had some in stock... So, off we went to get it for her. It was a super natural store! We loved it! We got the things she wanted and took them to her. They were so appreciative. It's hard to see such great people go through something so bad. She got sick the first time we were there and she was apologizing and crying. I felt so bad for her. All I could do was hug her and let her cry.
I can't say that I am correct, but at least at this point in time, I did not sense death around her at all. There are others I've known who have had cancer and I've had a weird "feeling" around them like death was in them. I didn't feel that with her. I pray I am right and that I never feel that with her.
It made for a full day, but we were more than happy to use our day in that way. We are so fortunate and blessed of God to have such wonderful people cross our life path.

I'm home...
missy... keep being there for your friend. They are obviously open to natural healing. And with you and your husbands support... who knows.
It was a very long afternoon. I took juices for me to have, however, my friend (who is usually very health minded) served SAD stuff. But my kiddos handled it well and it wasn't too bad for them.
I got home and made dinner for the kiddos and a big bowl of tomato/veggie juice for myself!! I put cajon spices in it tonight and that was a nice treat.
I'm feeling very tired from being a little under the weather, so its off to a bath and then a little reading and then.... bed.... ahhhhhhhhh....

it's amazing how people find that completely amazing. they are blown away with the fact that i'm fine with it. they were apologizing and i said, "why are you apologizing... this is my choice. i'm not being punished!" LOL

missyc - sorry to hear your friend is so ill ((hugs)) I will send positive healing thoughts if that's ok?
Have been doing well - hubby and I are thinking of water fasting for 7 days leading up to the end of the month. It's a special time for me as I will be letting go of many things (ill-health, old attitudes, etc) - I think I am going to plan a rebirth ceremony for myself. And then in Nov - I think we'll do entire month 100% raw or juice fasting. I was amazed - he was the one who brought up wanting to fast! (He wants to honor the changing of the Wheel and get healthier)
I'm really in awe and so thankful - when we got married almost 7 years ago - neither of us had a concept of what good health was. He ate tons of pizza and I started to when I got with him since I had always had to diet. It was very releasing for me though even if I got large and sick - I finally felt accepted and dropped all the dieting mentality garbage. And now we're both seeking and striving for optimal health. (and trying to undo years of SAD damage but more focused on nurturing our Spirits) Yay!

Aleesha-- Thanks for the kindwords. I have read that about water fasting but since I have been fasting for over 20 years and I have a lot of fat left it is safe for healthy people to water fast longer than 40 days. They do not like to recommend it for people unless at a fasting retreat.

GoodCat- I'm glad you and your kids made it thru the day okay. It's hard to be around all that SAD food, but it's also such a great feeling when you can deal with it and not let it suck you in to it's grip!
Aleesha- It's funny when we're fasting how other people seem "sorry" for us! I tend to feel sorry for others for not seeing the value in fasting or in eating raw.
Rawmom- I think I would love an actual massage one of these days. DH has had them before and loves them. He keeps talking about getting back into them again.
Rawkin- Good for you on the water fasting plans. I'll look forward to hearing how it goes. So far, I've only done a day of water fasting here and there.
Not sure what the day will bring. I have felt like I'm in a crying mood so I guess I should get busy and see if it will pass once I get active at something.

Miss... or you could simply sit with it. Get a journal and write everything that makes you want to cry. Release it. Let it come up from your body like a wave of energy... releasing it into the Universe where it can be composted and transformed into something else. Let it go from your body. Release it from your cells. This can be very healing...
Just a thought...
I love how everyone is supporting each person in this thread. It's soooo beautiful to read everyone's thoughts and supportive words. (((hugs))) I am so proud to be part of this. Thank you all!
I think I'll see if I can do another day like yesterday. Long sauna, detox bath and then off to my drumming circle. Last nights class was so amazing. We each took an energy bath.
The crystal bowls were set in a circle with a yoga mat in the centre. Each person took a turn laying on the mat (with or without the crystals I brought placed on their chakras). Everyone else played the bowls around them. One woman drummed over you while they played. It was truly a gift to be part of it. The healing, the energy renewed within each of us...
So today will be another magickal day in the life of Aleesha and I want to embrace it fully.
I also have a Reiki student who has taken her Teacher degree (4th degree) and so I have some time set aside for us to chat. What a great day. I love days like these (yesterday and today) and to be water fasting during them... is such a gift.
Last night as I sat at dinner with everyone. My hunger was completely off. Just one day on water and it was completely off. Normally the first day is a challenge for me... but not yesterday. I love that about fasting... you never know what you'll get till you get it.
(((hugs))) to all...

aaaw, I haven't been any support at all here - sorry girls. I don't even remember when I started the water fast. I didn't do nearly as well this time - was on and off, though mostly on and am feeling very well actually.:)
Oh I have had so much water and I don't like it either. But I've had tons!
I am bothered by brain fog a lot and have too much to do that requires clearer thinking abilities so I am going to begin juicing and possibly have some green smoothies too - not sure. Just taking a day at a time. I am really trying hard to do that.
I have also been constipated too much and I really don't like this. Got to get something in me that "moves" me. I actually began with lots of green juice yesterday and had more today.
Still can't figure out the camera. I put it away for a bit. Have another project that has to get done this week and I want to focus on that plus keeping my eating, drinking under control. I am glowing! hehe:D
Don't even know how much I weigh. I'll be back though - am still here - just short on time.
Best to you all.

Aleesha- Thank you! You were right. I just needed to release everything. Here's what I did. I used the sauna and then after I was done and was just laying on the bed resting, I pictured every different thought that was bothering me as different colored butterflies... And I released them into the air as I thought of them. I watched them fly and then I imagined the hand of God in the air and all of the butterflies landing on it and I feel much better now.
Sue- I'm glad you are feeling good other than the constipation. Hoping you find something that will help with that soon.

I did get out tonight and walked with DH up the driveway and back... A nice, slow enjoyable walk. It was nice out and peaceful. (We have a long driveway.)
Then we got some great news after that. Our singer friend called and said that she was able to eat some of what we took to her yesterday that she had wanted to try... AND it stayed down! I had a bad experience last night and am wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them. Early in the evening while on the couch my shin all the way down to my foot went into some kind of spasm and turned inward. It hurt and I have never had this happen before. I have had bad cramping in my one of my calves before because I have nerve damage but last night this was different and then it happened again during the night in the other leg. I am thinking that my body is missing something? Perhaps fasting isn't a good idea at this time? I really don't know.

OOPS - Day 7 and I'm in Heaven!! **how embarrassing...getting ahead of myself** :o
Strengh, Peace, Love and Hugs to all of you!! Being away for the weekend one misses much!!
Wonderful weekend on my part - even made it through making a cake for a birthday on Saturday!! But the party was filled with a lot of smoke and though I did my best to separate myself from it....it's smoke, and it'll find ya. I woke Sunday with hurty lungs and BLECH so I water fasted yesterday and I I feel so much better :) I did have to have some watered down juice first thing this morning as I felt very weak and shaky so I have even more respect for those of you who do continued water fasting!!! :D
Noticing some emotional stuff popping up and I welcome it - health is so much more than weight or the way my cloths fit and it is my emotional health that has hindered my happiness for so long - for this I fast.
Apple/Pear/Ginger and Grape/Organe is on the menu for today. Ok, wrote a book!!
Blessings~

high potassium foods (for spasm relief) - tomatoes, cantaloupe, spinach, orange, honeydew, apple, beets, carrots, grapefruit, pineapple, onions, watermelon, strawberries...
psyllium - if not enough water is taken with it - can create a blockage. not good at all.
~~~
i made it through last night. honestly... never thought i would. i was SURE i was going to eat. (and nothing good for breaking a fast at all!) but... between my hubby, some wonderful friends on facebook and writing about how i was feeling... i made it through the night and am still 100% fasting!!! very pleased indeed.
thank you all for your support. i love you all (((hugs)))
i'm glad day 135 became a reality for me. i'm soooo glad i'm not sharing that i'm done fasting. i'm sooooooooooooooooooooo pleased. so pleased. i can't even describe how disappointed i would have been if i had chosen to not make it through last night. i would be in tears... cause honestly... i'm not ready to stop fasting yet. i have a few more days to go yet!
Aleesha - I am so proud of you for sticking with your choice :) Way to be true to yourself :D
I am experiencing some major detox and feel like poo (sinus pressure, acid reflux, fatigue, blurry vision)....which I haven't done in two days so maybe that's part of the issue. I think it's time for P&B (or F&B) adn get some toxins outta here!!
'Course, my engine blew this am so at work an extra hour and a half to wait for hubby...so the extra errands at the end of the day will be quick!! Ah, me...probably best he'll be driving as my eyesight is outta whack.
Better out than in!! :D I release these toxins from my body!!
i've been taking just bentonite every day for a few days and am very pleased with it. i'm having bms... although i'm also experiencing butt pee... but i'm having solid movements as well.
my butt pee seems to be an evening thing...
i'm so glad i made it through last night as well. ohhhh i'm ready for some ease again. ever since thanksgiving... there has not been ease in this fast. heaps before that... but not-so-much since. i have to be honest... it does make me a tiny bit nervous about yule/christmas... but i'm just ignoring that cause there is no sense making more stress for me.
I am sipping on som Get Regular Yogi tea right now and am feeling some gurgulies. Will do F&B tonight and hope for the best!! :)
I don't know how you did Thanksgiving! Have you fasted through the holiday before?
I am finding I have to take a day at a time or I get overwhelmed. But I feel great that I have done 7 days and I am not ready to stop yet!!
Aleesha, you said you sent emais?
Question. I'm water fasting, but I don't want to let anyone know. So I've been totally alone, and I'm lonely. Any fellow fasters have any insight? Thanks so much.
i have fasted over thanksgiving before... 3 years ago. but i stopped fasting shortly after. AND i was only doing a short fast at the time. this is a whole different ball game... when you know you aren't eating till next year.
sometimes the numbers overwhelm me and i need to sit and focus on this moment... this day... and nothing else.
and looking back at the last 135 days helps me as well. cause i've gone through many challenges but i've also overcome each and every one. so that's pretty huge for me. i feel very empowered when i look at what i've already achieved. that... often keeps me going forward.
Ya I've sent you a few emails... asking if we could chat about your fasting retreat experience and the months following your return. I'd love to have that chat, if you are open to it. Email me if you wish... whynotme@shaw.ca
Feeling lonely is a huge part of fasting sometimes especially if you are doing it and not sharing it with anyone. Perhaps you should find a fasting buddy (online or in person) or hire a fasting coach (not point fingers at myself... but hey, I am available!) *giggling*... that may assist you???
Thanks Aleesha for the above - I figured it was lack of potassium.
All the best on your fasting ladies.
I am going back to some veggie/fruit juice afterall. And guess what - I tried something to improve my short-term memory today and will continue to see if it helps............. turmeric with some black pepper and green tea.:D
so i have a question... if you figured that is what it was why did you feel you shouldn't be fasting? why not just add some high pot foods to your juice?
curious...
I am on Day 1 of my Green Juice fast..my question is is 3 gallons a day going to be enough, I am assuming everyone is different. Is it just a "see how it goes" kind of deal? Also are my bm's eventually going to smell like fresh cut grass? :) Okay probably not. Okay another question enema's, can I just grab the kit at the drugstore?
Aleesha Sattva
10-25-2010, 02:34 PM
nope... no fresh cut grass for ya. sorry. you can have as much gs as you desire... don't limit yourself. drink drink drink!!! and don't forget... water! can't help ya with enemas... i'm not into them myself. not sure why you'd even consider one with all the fibre you'll be taking in... but it's your choice. ;)
raw... welcome back!!!
sauna - on
detox bath - ready
another wonderful day of fasting for the lady of awen!
So much happening on here.. I just got back from grocery shopping. Got some yummy stuff to juice this week!!
I'm feeling a little worse today, but its all good. I know I'll overcome and feel better soon. Its strange though... I have this "white stuff" on the back of my throat... its not an infection...its actually something totally gross.. their called tonsil stones (which is calcifide animal protein) :eek: Okay... heres the weird part... I haven't had any animal products in over a year and a half (except about 1 oz. of raw goat cheese a while ago)..
Anyway... sorry if that too much info.. but I'm amazed at how long it takes some things to work out of our bodies...
I'm going to go drink some pineapple juice now and help my body get rid of these things!!
are you taking bentonite clay lady aredhel? i suggest you begin doing so for a week or two. a tablespoon or two a day mixed with water and a nice litre of water after to wash it down. i love the silky smooth way my mouth feels afterwards.
also... perhaps adding some chlorella would assist you too? in the morning... so it doesn't keep you up.
only add one now... and the other next week so they are combined for a bit and then finish off with one.
so this is how it would look:
bentonite clay.... one week in... chlorella and bentonite clay (not taken at the same time as you can't drink anything an hour before or after the clay)... and then a week later... just chlorella.
10-25-2010, 02:43 PM
Thanks Lady Awen.... I haven't been taking either during this fast. I do have both things though.. So I'll start them.. I'll start with the clay and then add in the chlorella next week.. I'm won't be fasting next week, but I am really wanting to commit myself to all raw once I'm done fasting..
Question regarding P&B Shakes or just clay for those doing this..... when's the best time to take the clay? as in - how fast does it work?
i hear ya on the butt pee mama.
shine... i've been fasting for over three years now. i do approx 260+ days a year. hence... why i often have answers to questions... this mama has been researching, learning and following other fasters for awhile now LOL
i find the P&B works fast... so the Flax&B should be just as quick. You can take it anytime... just be sure not drink (or eat) anything for an hour before or after as the clay will absorb all the nutrients and remove them from your body! Cause that's what it does... it absorbs. We want it to absorb the toxins and heavy metals... and it will... if you gift it water and time. :)
I really need/want a juice fast . . . been eating way too much of certain high fat raw foods and now I have that sluggish feeling . . .
But it's cold and rainy and I am in a foul mood -- Full moon? Menopause? :p Who/what can I blame it on????
So, I'm gonna lurk for a bit and try to get inspired - maybe November?
Aleesha et. al., you are the best!
It was a manic Monday at work today. Two people out of three in my dept were out! I was the only one there in my dept! So, it was a little crazy but I got through it okay. I had a slight headache, but probably more due to fasting. I do have a super positive, though. Doing the avocado slices about every 3 hours seems to be helping... I did not get any blurred vision today like I was before! That was a huge plus since I was entering lots of info on the computer and that's usually when it starts to really bother me on fasting days.
Well, I'm feeling pretty tired so I'll keep it short today. Have a wonderful evening everyone!
I worked all day today and yesterday I was not able to post. I hope everyone is doing well with their fasting.
I am doing really well and no lag in energy. I am not sleeping as much as I would like but that is ok I will try to catch up on it on my day off.
No one knows I am fasting except my husband and my one friend. I always feel like the less people who know the less I get bugged and I do not need any negative energy. I usually tell people after my fast is over.
Aleesha- Iam glad you were able to continue your fast. I hope it gets easier for you from now on.
I hope everyone has a smooth and easy fasting day tomorrow. You can all do it.
Welcome new fasters and rev!
Having a great day here - I've been researching simple/natural ways to make skin care (and learning about great things to munch/juice for it too). Fun! ;)
Thought to give yourself today:
I deserve the best treatment to give my body what it needs to be lavishly vital!
(whether that be fasting or munching raw or whatever you need! You deserve it!)
Have a great night! <3
Good Morning Beautiful Fasters!! I appreciate you all :D
Starting this morning with vim and vigor! Very strange dreams of green clouds, whirpools and fast boats...I really enjoy fasting dreams - even when they are a bit creepy :rolleyes:
Didn't get to hfs last night so we'll shoot for this afternoon. Having to travel with hubby makes things a bit difficulut but it's fun too!
Straight pear juice for the morning and Aleesha's Tom Juice (without green onion due to lack of hfs trip) for the afternoon. Sipping on water now. I am finding it so telling that it seems to take so much longer for the water to come out eight days into my fast. It seems my body is using so much water to heal me from the inside out - really cool!
I am feeling a transition coming on from sweet fruity juices to more savory fair....think it's time to move to green and do some healing on this first level I have cleaned out!!
Have a great day everyone!!!
Good Morning Fellow Fasters.... Day eleven here...
3 of my kiddos got sick last night and so I was up until after midnight. I'm feeling a little worse today, but again... I'm thankful I'm fasting through this and I know I'll get better :)
I am starting the clay today and I'm hopeful it will help clean out this body of mine :rolleyes:
I'm sipping on water and will have some tomato/veggie juice shortly.... that sounds lovely.
