I have been priding myself on the fact that I had decided to go 100% raw and would never go back but I just blew it! Not big time but I'm not at all happy with myself. I had a subway sandwich with only veggies on it. Plus a cooked sweet potato the other day. Bummer!!! I've only been raw for a little over 2 months. Is this normal?? I guess I have to remind myself of what just being raw for a couple of months has done for me! I think my problem is that I'm not eating simple enough--making too many recipes. You experienced raw foodist --any advice on how not to let the non raw food life to decide to take me over????
Welp, YOU decide. Life doesn't decide anything for you, really... It's no big thing to be on the journey... And every time you make another Choice, one that surprises you, it is the perfect Opportunity to learn more about yourself.
Why that moment?
Why that food?
Why not raw?
If you are learning about yourself in the Journey, even better. More bang for your buck.
I have found that each time I have made the choice to eat non-raw food it has been (for the most part) purely emotional. Which was less than ideal when I didn't realize that and was beating myself up for it.
What a waste.
So, honestly... there is no "blowing it". You are doing GREAT for stepping up and looking at what you are doing and CARING about whether it is the best for you.
That is way better than a great start...

Pretend that it never happened and start again.
The worst thing to do now is to dwell on it. You are a raw foodist so be a raw foodist.

what you said - just remind yourself about what eating raw for the past two months has done for you. I know that blogging about it really helps me because I have something to refer back to from time to time - I forget things easily - lots of good things!
I've been struggling to be a raw foodist for about 3 years! Everyone is different but I'd say you are pretty "normal".:D Just keep trying.

Definitely don't beat yourself up over this ... tis another experience to learn from and "go from there".
If you can, think back and see what was going on when you had the subway and cooked potato. Were you out and really hungry; were you feeling deprived; were you stressed out about something; were you really busy and didn't have anything else with you; were you feeling anxious, or bummed, or annoyed with something or someone ...
If you can clarify the emotions and situation you were in at the time, you can logically look at the actions and say "okay, I was feeling 'whatever'. So next time I'm feeling 'whatever', I'll make a better choice. It's okay.
Then ... Pat yourself on the back for doing such a great job on all the gazillion other things you ate lately that ARE raw ... focus on how good you feel about THAT ... and move on.

Think about what "crave" food choices you would have made prior to choosing a raw lifestyle and put it in perspective. Your "off" choices weren't horrible for you! Raw food is best but Life Happens!:-)

It is funny you said that Tasia about what "crave" food choices I would have made before my raw lifestyle choice--because-- I decided that I would make those recipes raw! It is working!!! I'm on the 30 day challenge and very excited about it.
