Hello...

I feel i'm coming down with a cold. What raw foods would you all recommend?

Thank you!

Before I went raw I bought Naked, Odwalla or Bolthouse farms juices.

They all have a Cboost/Cmonster drink that has tons of C and lots of Zinc. I drank it anytime I felt my immune system slipping/ losing a battle with an invading bactera or virus. I would dirnk the whole bottle, take a hot bath to help relax any other issues in my body (that way my immune system can focus soley on the invading infection). Then I slept, sleep sleep sleep sleep SLEEP!!!!

You could juice some fruits and veggies high in Vit C as well as things with good amounts of zinc.

Vit C - oranges, kiki, guava and sweet peppers.

Almonds, and pumkin, squash seeds are fairly good for zinc.

Good luck! I can't remember the last time I got sick, even living in a house of sickos I was always able to catch it in time and give my body the extra help it needed to win!

I've read that abstaining from eating is a good idea, however I like to eat, so I'd take this route: oranges, grapefruit, figs, liquids (coconut water, holy water, rejuvelac, green juice).

Enjoy the ride! I know I like coming down with stuff, it makes me feel all warm and dreamy.

Garlic! Eat a clove (if you can handle it) or juice a few cloves in your green juice. This does the trick for me every time!

I can't handle garlic. Personally I'd go with Kombucha tea. Sooooooo good and gentle.

The best thing in my opinion is to avoid eating anything. The digestive system requires a lot of energy, and that energy is better spent fighting off the cold.
Other animals usually avoid eating when they are ill, so why wouldn't we?

But I know it can be difficult to just quit eating when your not prepared for it. Juices are excellent as they require minimal digestion. The next step would be smoothies. And raw honey is also very healing and easy to digest.

I would at least stay away from the nuts and seeds. If you still want them it's better to make milks and/or ferment them into yogurts as they are much easier to digest that way. But simply not eating them is still a better idea in my opinion.

I haven't had a cold myself since I started to eat raw, but before that I used to make a tea that worked really well for me. It's just a chai tea that I steep for 20 minutes with goji berries and extra ginger.

Spoons of coconut oil and "Kyolic" garlic.

The last time I needed it was a about a year and a half ago so thanks to raw food!!

I can cure a cold in one day, even as a cooked foodist. Trick is:

1/2 lemon, rind and all, in blender.
1 clove of garlic, 2 if necessary, peel too!
1/2 cup water.

Swallow it down! Guzzle something afterwards to remove the taste. It is the nastiest stuff alive, makes me puke sometimes too!

Here's what helps me:

Garlic! singing with the chorus on this one
onions--I like to mix mine with a whole lemon and mix it in with salad
