Hello everyone, I've been a lurker for a couple of years and have attempted raw on a few occasions, but the non-raw family thing has been disabling. I am determined to start anew for the next 4 weeks, but can anyone offer advise on how they have dealt with skeptical hubbies and/or parental units who don't get it? My DH and I have been seriously co-dependent foodies for years, and I'm not sure how to do this without him and he has absolutely no interest. Suggestions, anyone?

Welcome Bethg. :) If there are events in your area like raw potlucks, demos or classes, maybe you can go to them together. Otherwise, ask for his support and get him involved as much as possible with learning, watching videos (lots on youtube & blogs), making food together, food tasting, etc. Make it as much fun as possible so he'll at least be there supporting you. If nothing works, try going out and meeting others or gets as much online support as you can. This is a wonderful forum and there's many other forums and blogs with tons of support.

Hi bethg - sorry to hear you're not getting much support at home for it. I agree with Dimond that if you can get him involved somehow - maybe you'd have some support.
But if he doesn't, you might need to look into the co-dependent foody part of yourself. Why do you need it to be that way? What do you need to do for yourself, etc? I know that's hard. Maybe if you can find a friend or other family member of just find support here or if there there is a raw community group.
My DH and I were similar to you guys for a while. I had to let go of the food part of the relationship with my DH. We kept all sorts of stuff in the house and each of us ate when we needed. It took the pressure off of having to have different lifestyles surrounding food. But now he's raw too so we can have meals together sometimes. Our bodies are on different schedules as far as hunger schedules, so we usually eat when we need.
Sorry for the long explanation - hope you ger inspired to do what you feel is right for you!
