I was wondering about this. My local chinese grocery carries mung beans really cheap but I noticed that on some of the labels it says "sulfited", and some of them don't. I don't think all products coming from China will say if they're sulfited or not, especially if the products are labeled in Chinese and I can't read them, nor should I even bother asking the employees, they might get angry right?

So I'm wondering if sulfited beans can also sprout. I'm trying to avoid sulfited beans obviously. My guess though right now is that they can still sprout, and that means I may have been buying sulfited when even the label doesn't say anything about that.

Sulfites are preservatives and have nothing to do with whether something is raw or not. The question is, are they raw or not?

it might have something to do with it being raw or not. Preservatives can often denature enzymes, and aim to destroy any kind of life that could live on it, so why couldn't have anything to do with something being truly raw?

Besides even if it was still raw, I dont want chemical poisons in my food.

You seemed to have answered your own question in your second post so not sure why you're asking something you know the answer to.
