Hello everyone,
This is my first post so a brief introduction. I recently became a quasi-vegetarian. My breakfast and dinner are usually comprised of juicing greens with a single auger and fruits with a centrifugal juicer. Yes, I know the cold press juicers are better for enzyme retention but I really don't feel like cutting up apples in the morning :-)
So far, I'm feeling great. And I've begun to grow wheatgrass at home using the hydroponic kit available at wheatgrasskits.com. I'm able to grow the wheetgrass tall and healthy but I seem to be encountering problems with mold and smell.
Now, I know mold is common with wheatgrass. And I've also noticed that my second batch, which I watered much less heavily than my first, has a lot less growing. However, both batches have been giving off a musky odor. Specifically, the root area and the water in the dripping tray have the smell the strongest.
This is a problem because I live with non-health-friendly people who would rather not have wheatgrass in thier home if its creating such an odor. So with that said, has anyone encountered this and if so, have you been able to solve it? Does it have anything to do with mold growth or is it just what farming smells like?
Thank you,
Daniel
