By using mason jars you dont have to clean up and can store stuff right out the jar.One of the reviewers said back in the day, they gave you a free mason jar with your new blender...... Im thinking this would be a good idea for travel, just need base and a mason jar in place of the full size glass pitcher.

I've done this but I would suggest using extreme caution. Blender carafes are of much thicker glass, surely for a reason. The might be a danger in using it to chop harder nuts, or in the event a pit/stone did not get removed from fruit (dates for one), etc. I don't really have an issue with it otherwise for blending fruit.
Another practice I put into play is to then use a vacuum sealer and jar attachment to extract the air from jars that juices will be stored in. These two tips do save dirtying multiple dishes, but there may be a slight risk involved with blending in the jar. Let common sense guide you.
I'm away from home now and have been looking for a way to juice/blend since I did not grab our bullet to bring. I did find a $15 dollar single serving mini blender at Wal-mart that I might pick up (I forget the brand). It is very light compared to the bullet but should get me through an extended stay before wearing out. Let's hope.

I already have both a Vita-Mix and a Magic Bullet and I do use them both. But I found something similar to a Magic Bullet at Target the other day that was about $27. Compared to $40 - $50 for the M Bullet....Looks real similar, but don't know if the mason jar trick would work.
Thanks,
Mary Kay

I just went back to that link you posted and read the comments. I particularly liked the tip from one, about using a half pint jar to store an extra blade head on.
