Hi, everyone,

I have a question about fasting and colonics.

Ok, so two months ago I started a dietary detox program. I slowly worked my way up to eating 100% raw (took about 2 months) and now I am there. (Except for a few beers, so I guess technically, I'm about 99.9% raw! lol)

Anyway, I did 10 colonics over the last 2 months, and I really cleansed a LOT of gunk out. Blech. Because of a medical problem, I have been severely constipated since birth (yes, day 1 right out of the womb) and I am determined to get cleaned out and continue to stay raw.

So, after 10 sessions, I still have a lot of stuff in me. My first colonic hydrotherapist quit to go to another job, so now I am on my second therapist. I thought for sure that 10 would have been enough, but on my 11th colonic (I got it for free), I was still releasing lots of black sludge. (Sorry, gross, I know.)

So, I signed up for 11 more. She said I might need more than that (she said she can still a lot of stuff still in me when she massages my abdomen), but I really can't afford to keep buying these colonic packages. So, I have heard that fasting during colonics helps them work better - so I thought I'd do a juice fast while doing the next round of colonics. And hopefully, that will eliminate the need for yet ANOTHER round of colonics. (I really shouldn't have bought this second package of colonics, but I really want to cleanse my my body out. I can already tell a massive difference in my body from the first 11 colonics.)

What I want to know is - does anyone here have any experience with this? Has anyone here seen a dramatic difference between doing colonics while fasting and while not fasting? Are there any specific juices that help the colon let go of waste more than others? Fruit fast? Green juice fast?

Another complicating factor is the fact that I have an enlarged uterus full of lots of fibroids that are pressing against my colon. I had surgery once to remove the fibroids, but they came back so now I am probably going to go ahead and get a hysterectomy, so I won't be so constipated all the time...on top of my long-standing chronic constipation problems since birth. Ugh...so ready to get this resolved.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Fasting may even assist with your uterus... but yes it will greatly assist with your colonics.

I would suggest that you do a juice fast and go ahead and drink what you desire. In other words... listen to your body. If you go to the market and cantaloupe catch your eye... then get one or three LOL

That's what I do. I walk around the market and gently touch the foods... my body begins intensely smelling the food or I find myself salivating... I know my body is asking for that particular food.

And... come join us on the fasting thread... we are all happy to support you on your journey!!!

Thanks, Aleesha,

Can you recommend a good but low-priced juicer? I can't spend a lot.

breville makes a good quality juicer... many of them and some are below $100.

you may be able to pick up a second hand Champion or Greenstar and they are far superior and last for many many years... so need to worry about getting one second hand.

Thanks. I went to target today and got one for $60 bucks. So far, so good. I've juiced my entire refrigerator (and some potatoes from the cupboard) in one night! lol!

Man, I hope this intense hunger goes away soon. If I keep this up, I'll be spending $50 bucks a day on food just to keep up with my appetite! :)

the more water days you do, the faster your hunger stops.

let me rephrase that...

when you do your first three days on water... you hunger shuts down faster than when you do the first three on juice.

but... when you do just water... your energy levels are really low.

I'm confused and posting with the thinking that even if my reply doesn't help you, Natural-girl, it might be beneficial to someone else who finds this thread.

If you were going for all those colonics, (big expense outlay) why not consider getting a Colema board and set-up to do them at home? I do. Then you can do them whenever you have an hour and the urge to cleanse some more. I am a fan of the closed-system colonic, (what you get in salons when you pay 60-90 bucks a shot) but after speaking with several trained professionals who administer colonics and doing my research over the years, my opinion is that the home deal is quite sufficient and mine has paid for itself many times over, even at $280. I love being able to have them every other day if I want, during periods where I want extra help with detox.

Also, when you had the money to invest in your health for the colonics, why did you seem to imply that you weren't worth it when it came to the juicer? I'm not asking that to be sassy or challenge you in a negative way, at all! I think this is something that is sad and a struggle for most of us (especially women, unfortunately) - we don't value ourselves enough to decide that paying the money for our health is worth it.
You ARE worth it! ;-) You're worth the best colonic therapy, the best juicer, the best organic food.

And sprouts in my smoothies have made a HUGE difference in my hunger. I know you posted this months ago, so maybe you've discovered tricks that work for you, but again, I'm posting more for the new people coming up behind me.

Last thing, Aleesha, thank you so much for all that you do on this site! You're an amazing help and have so much great info that I use for myself AND that I offer up on other raw community sites! You're amazing and you're experience is so valuable! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
